Randy Shares the juice on a secret drop shot retrieve he discovered by accident while Crappie fishing years ago…#dropshot #bassfishing #fishing #secrets #summer #deepwaterfishing Baitwrx link…bait-wrx.com/?...
Thank you Randy. I just caught my PB 19.5 inches, on a drop shot using your technique. I feel like I am taking a college course between you, Jonny and Matt’s videos. I am so glad I found you guys.
That Hazedong shad on a drop shot is almost like fishing live bait. It's my new secret weapon, flat out catches them when nothing else will. Awesome bait!!
Hey I really appreciate the information I have been bass fishing for 3 years now, picked it up around 30 years old. One video I’d really like to see is rod selection for different type of techniques. I have trouble finding and understanding what rod to use and there is so much competing information.
Great info again, RB. The internet is such an unbelievable resource for people like me, who always had such a thirst for information, and so difficult to get good answers oftentimes.
caught a big ol trout today on the drop shot... just sitting on top of TONS of bass on the finder lol. not a single one took it but we also didn't really switch it up from a green pumpkin worm.
Randy, go over the use of the stick bait (senko style) I know the "wacky style" but any other insight would be great. Oh, by the way, seal up the door over your left shoulder. I can see light coming in the top of it!!!
Love it man! I crappie fish with a dropshot a lot and swim it a bunch. The retrieve you mentioned I do with a jig for crappie and it's deadly. Definitely gonna try on bass with a dropshot. Thanks.
Hello Randy. I really appreciate the knowledge that you share with us regular guy’s. I have watched a couple of your braid to floro videos. I have been sucked into the thinking this is the way to go. I love the feel I get with braid. It’s hard for me to walk away from it when Carolina Rigging. This technique works really good in my home lake during the summer months. The problem that I have been having is my braid is breaking at the swivel. I use a floro leader from the swivel to my bait. I use 10 lb. braid to the swivel and 10 lb. floro to my lure. I drag my rig up rocky drop offs. The rocks are effecting the braid as well as the weight sliding up and down. What would you suggest I do? Since I am tied to a swivel, should I still use only floro! Any advice would be truly appreciated. Keep up the good work!
Hey, i'm definitely not as knowledgeable as Randy, but just put a bead or 'sinker bumper' in between the swivel and your weight...that will stop the weight from weakening your knot. Happy fishing. :)
Hey Randy, can you tell me why the pencil weight over the tear drop weight for drop shotting? I find I have a harder time feeling the bottom with the pencil weight.
Good stuff. Have been drop shot fishing almost exclusively this Spring and, I almost agree with you. But, instead of reeling slowly, I drag the bait like a jig and let off. I start with the line snug and raise the rod directly towards me. They can't stand it and, I probably get 90 of my bites like this! Can't wait to try the shorter leader this Summer!
Love a dropshot, and a short leader, although I've never gone quite THAT short. I would think the weight would be a visual deterrent in terms of the presentation. I'm def gonna try it, though.
I fish from my yak, I don't have any electronics so I have never fished vertical with dropshot. I really just use dropshot cast & retrieve, worms & swimbaits. I don't shake it either just retrieve & stop every once n while. It is one of my favorites, I have had a dropshot set up on every trip out past 2 yrs, has been very productive for me some days. Definitely good tip, will have to try shorter leader
It’s just a lil dipper reaction innovations. I bet those cost 3 times the packages. If I am wrong please explain.I’m learning! I’m ate slap up with bass fishing. Bought a 18 ft Alumacraft last year but didn’t put it in the water until May.
I remember or noticed years ago when spider rigging for crappie on a walleye lake I was catching more walleyes with just a small jig and worm or minnow about a foot off the bottom. Many of the walleye tournament guys were struggling to find and catch eyes... They just shook their head when they looked in my box!
I just moved to North East Alabama. Weiss Lake. I absolutely love this lake. Does the weigh in stage go up anywhere? I don’t understand how bass won’t put an Elite up here on this treacherous bastard upriver. All buoy barge running markers for miles. It must be facilities.AS to why it has never been fished in a big time pro tournament on TV. I am Interested in your knowledge about Weiss or if either you or Johnny have ever come down from the hills to the holler. Ryan Upchurch ? I’m a holler boy myself .
Slow reeling up AND slow drop too. Baitcasters work good for slowly letting the bait down. Put it on freespool and let the line out slowly by very gently thumbing the spool. The fish see the bait very slowly coming down towards them til they can't stand it. Then jerk it up.... BANG ! reaction bite ! Works for Walleye, bass, pike etc. By doing this, you'll be working the entire water column. The fish might be high in the water column. Why only fish one depth ?
Thanks, Randy! I love the Hazedong shot and love learning new ways to use it. Can’t wait to try this technique. I’ve also been experimenting with wacky rigging a hazedong Shad with success. Still playing with weight and retrieve but it’s been getting me some lethargic bass I couldn’t get on anything else
This is the same response you strive for while ice fishing for crappies. Watching your electronics and slowly reeling up as a teaser trying to trigger a reaction.
This is going to sound extremely elementary, but does it first require finding the fish before you start using the drop shot, or wacky rig, or any other finesse style? I guess my question is "How do I know when to use it, be it for bass or crappie?"
@@randyblaukatintuitive I've been an avid saltwater fisherman for the last 15 years. I want to tell you that you have seriously made me such a better fisherman in the saltwater... Spending the last two years learning how to catch bass from you showed me more than I could of ever imagined. Using that knowledge in the saltwater truly works. I can't thank you enough! Nobody can compare to your RU-vid channel.... Well except that dang Richard Gene... He is a fishing machine!
I'd still throw the hazedong, it looks like a ton of different bait fish, just match the color of the bait to whatever forage you have in your body of water, and you should see success
@@randyblaukatintuitive thanks Randy. I really enjoy your content I am a new subscriber and I love finesse fishing , i’d love to see more videos on it. Keep up the good work
Ya know, I consider myself a pretty fluent drop shot angler as well, and I swear to god, I would have NEVER thought that this worked........oh, but you can bet your ass I'm trying it. ........in about 20 minutes. Lol
