This is just perfect! Your patience has been rewarded and I cannot wait to watch this next chapter. Prayers for Jess and best wishes for your green thumbs!
@@FloatingOurBoat WHY!.. do you have to leave your old dog behind for "walks".. get a tow behind trolley.. or a dolls pram.. she can still have her short walks & you get a little extra exercise towing her part of the ways.. lovin your travels from NZ 😍
So pleased Fran and Rich that you have found the perfect place for you all 😊, I’m looking forward to watching how your plot develops and learning some garden tips too. I hope Jess’ meds help, bless her, have fun and I look forward to your next vlog x
Brilliant! A permanent mooring! Just in case the diesel prices go up again, you can shelter on the mooring and do some gardening for a change. During mid Winter it will be so much better just to stay put than trying to "cruise" in frozen canals. Good luck with the project ahead - John xx
So happy for you two and the dogs! Awe, that shot of Jess curled up was the sweetest. I feel her, some days it’s nice to take it a little slow and lazy.
I'm Irish, I've never been in Yorkshire, but something about what I've heard about it, and the people I've met from there, makes it appear like a magical place to me. Super to hear you finally got an 'anchor point' for your adventurising! Happy days, you two!
Great video again! I think you may be incorrect like I was about electric bikes. First, about 80% of people that purchase ebikes are over the age of 50. I too thought that an electric bike was for the old or injured etc. I could not have been more wrong! For me it is an exercising machine! I go further distances, I don't care about the terrain, I use it to go shopping and for exercise and it is AMAZINGLY FUN!!! The fun factor is through the roof! The odometer states more than 1k miles and I've smiled during every single one of them! It is the battery that allows all of these things to happen. At 60 years old I'm not guaranteed the same health when I return from a bike ride as when I left for it. The battery gives me the confidence to push my exercising, push my traditional comfort levels and explore more often knowing that the battery can get me home due to any injury, tired, or just being 60 years old. If you get an ebike you will; ride more often than a traditional bike. You will exercise without even realizing it as you are having so much fun. You will be far less car dependent. With the accessories that one can purchase you can easily carry wood, groceries, supplies, tools etc. I urge you both to look into the world of ebikes. I think your minds will change rather quickly. And, it is just so much fun!!!
That all sounds very sensible. Rich in particular has a lot of cycling experience but it is very hilly around here so we may reconsider. Thank you for taking the time to write this message.
Looks like you've found a wonderful slice of Yorkshire heaven with this plot/mooring, Congratulations. I'm sure you already know but maybe give Glucosamine Chondroitin supplements a try for Jess and her poor old joints. In my experience giving it to my elderly pets over the years it can really help them.
Hi Fran and Rich, another great video! So glad you've found somewhere to grow your veggies and flowers. You have a fantastic lifestyle, can't wait for the next video! Poor Jess, please give her cuddles from us ❤
So Jess can go along walking with you, get a little stroller and blankets to make her comfy. So happy for you both! I'm so excited to see your gardens and set up. The bird feeder is so nice and lovely birds.
Glad you have found contentment and a new chapter. Now I know why you said that you will probably still be there when we come past later in the year. A beautiful part of the country.
I was expecting you to have done what a lot of channels have done recently, go back to dry land. Glad you are not ‘giving up’ you have a huge reach that connects with people on so many levels. You are a corner staple of Canal life, love you guys. Phew! That thumbnail nearly got me🫣
Sounds SO IDYLLIC...Good for you. That would be my heaven too. Life brings to you what is right for you if you want it enough. I can see how much this is right for you. Bless 😊
So happy for you that you found a base in an area that you love. Sounds like the perfect arrangement for you. Looking forward to the garden tour! Hope Jess is feeling better.
The best of both worlds. Still able to cruise when you want to, but without the stress of finding somewhere decent to moor up for a while when you're ready to just relax for a bit. And that feeling of somewhere to get your hands in the soil and watch things growing can't be overstated. Delighted for you.
I'm so pleased for you, as others have said you look so contented. We've had farmers moorings on the Shroppie and just come back to another one after a bit of enforced marina time. (Look for Percy's blog) Nothing better, cheaper than a marina, a base plus you don't really have to demonstrate 'continuous cruising especially if its near to some of your favourite mooring spots. Friends on the next farmers mooring where we used to be have been helping the farmer with his lambing - something to think about for the future a bit of helping out on the farm ? Looking forward to how you make this home - take care and keep smiling ! - forgot to say you can add some solar to the shed roof, that what we do around here, makes a big difference.
Thank you Nev. It does seem perfect to us. This is a dairy farm mainly so I think we will leave the cows to him remembering our past experience, but we are loving watching their antics from across the fence. I think he also has some sheep so will look forward so lambing next year.
Thanks for this great update and lovely cruise, I hope that little Jess gets better soon and it will be fantastic to watch the progress of your mooring and growing plot. I hope that you are both doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
It’s a “win, win”👍 When you’re travelling you can look forward to getting home. And when you’re on your mooring you can look forward to cruising again.
Really pleased for you both. We found cruising and not being abe to have a garden hard, but patients and being in the right place at the right time paid off. Happy gardening love Sue & Bill NB Thisldome.
Glad to hear about your good news. When I grow from seeds I put the seeds in egg cartons. When it is time to plant outside I just cut the carton and plant them in the carton.
So happy you've found a place to tie up where you can do a bit of gardening. And I love your attitude about it...try it out and see if it works for you. ☺🌱🌱🌱
So, so happy for you both. The set-up sounds great. I love the fact that you are keeping your boat and have a small of land to plant some veg. I cannot wait to see all Fran’s recipes!
Congratulations on finding the spot you have been searching for🪴🌿🌾🌹🌼🌻🌸 You both look happy, content and excited. The heritage center looks like a place to spend many hours. I bet you quickly hook up with the gardeners there. I will be looking forward to your garden tour! Truly the best of both worlds. Hugs and treats to Jess. Hope the medicine and warmer weather help.
Thank you Robin. The gardeners were nowhere to be seen when we visited in pouring rain. No doubt in a potting shed somewhere but we will definitely return. Incidentally the garden is run by volunteers who do a wonderful job.
The Bleeding Hearts were beautiful, both pink and white, though they are poisonous(I believe). We grew them in our garden in Alaska, and they became absolutely spectacular, over the years. Your narrowboat/greenhouse is great! Greenery is good for you!
So happy for you!😊 I'm a gardener so I'm quite anxious to see your gardening content. I'm 68 with several physical issues, so small gardening is right up my alley! I watch a couple of homesteaders here in US & I'm so envious but this is where I am in life. Gardening & canal boaters - perfect content match for me! 👍😍❤️
Thank you Revonda. We also watch homesteaders and channels with big gardens, but we are also not getting any younger so it will be fun growing as much as we can on a tiny plot and not struggling to keep on top of it all.
Hi Fran & Rich, so happy for you both and really look forward to following your new journey...it sounds exciting! You can see the contentment and joy on your faces! Happy gardening, enjoy! Sorry to hear about Jess, please give lots of pets and cuddles for me...Archie as well, of course! I loved hearing the sound of the rain @18:00 apprx., not fun to cruise in, but I find it so soothing! Thank you so much for sharing, take really good care, stay well! Lots of love Kathy x 🌺🌺🌸🌸
Congratulations Fran and Rich! I can’t remember seeing you two happier than you are at this very moment in time. Wonderful things happen to good people with a plan and patience. Can’t wait to see your garden Fran and those recipes you’ll be cooking up. I’m excited to see Rich’s new paintings too! I’m so happy for the both of you! God bless..
Congratulations guys just what you needed a plot of land to grow your food and use as a base but mainly somewhere to do your thang. So chuffed for you.
Fantastic news! The best of both worlds with just a tad of compromise - your lives couldn't be better than they sound right now! Already looking forward to sharing your continued journey.
We so very happy for you both! So tickled that you can now grow all sorts of good things to eat. Sorry to hear about Jess, perhaps a new soft, comfy, fluffy bed is in order for the old girl. I know it helped our aging pup in his last days. As far as bikes go, there are solar powered/ pedal charging bikes now that have big wide tires that will help with hill climbing and field crossing. Believe me there are younger folks that use them and they're great.🚲🏍 Emily (Ben & Emily Narrow boat) calls the bow of their boat the 'potting shed', Alan their cat has to share the sunlight with seedlings. 😂 Again, we so very. very happy for you and the pups. Take care and keep us all updated with the happening around the garden. Sending many hugs and good thoughts your way ~ Lacy, Mike & Hamish 🐾🙌🏼🌻 PS. Perhaps a row of giant sunflowers along the fence to keep the cows from knocking the bird feeders.🐦🐄🐦 Fran, what have you been making lately & Rich would love to see your latest painting.🎨
Thank you Lacy. Jess has had some medication and seems quite a bit better now. I think she has enjoyed laying about in the sunshine while we do the gardening. I have still been weaving cowls, book marks and rug mugs and Rich is hoping to get back to his painting this week.
Congrats on your mooring, can’t wait to see the garden. You’ll have to get a doggy backpack to carry Jess so she’s not lonely and pining while you’re away. After Covid when everyone was home for so long our Karma all of a sudden developed separation anxiety . Prior to Covid she was used to being alone for at least part of the day but now she is older as well and gets very. I’m sure you know to not plant mint right in your garden or it will spread all over the garden driving other plants out. After spending over a month trying to kill off all the mint through three 8 ft. beds only to see some creep back in the next year. I’d never plant it anywhere but pots again. Have fun in the garden centres and the plots.🙋🏼♀️
Thank you, the mint will definitely stay in pots. We have thought about a carrier for Jess, but she is quite a weight even though she is small. She seems a bit better now she is on medication and can still manage most walks. She did 5 miles the other day
@@FloatingOurBoat glad to hear she’s feeling better, we give our older dog CBD oil…..well it’s in treats but still it seems to really help. I take it myself for my arthritis, I was having a terrible time getting decent sleep but since I started taking it at bedtime it’s really helped. 😴
Exciting! I fell in love with 'end of garden' when Chris and Shell got theirs at Golden Nook. Then I was excited when Mark and Deb got theirs... and now you! It really seems to be the best of both worlds. I can't wait to see the area and what you will do with your plot of land. Our weather in the US (at least in Indiana) has been the same. It's finally hitting and staying at comfortable temperatures.
