According to google carbon monoxide can be produce by bruning oil, wood, kerosene, natural gas. Also CO is also flammable and ithink thats what used oil do to make a fire

That was my first impression comes to my mind that it is toxic but I remember that what is the difference of air heaters used by the the food companies in their burners which are using either diesel or bunker to heat the air to dry the product from saturated liquid to powder dry, as long as the used oil is completely burned and no unburned gas or oil I think it is not toxic, by the way I was also working in a food company before that uses air heaters.
