Same. Thank God for "what is this song" and the like. I'm old school. I remember years ago standing before a turntable, picking up the needle, writing a few lyrics down, playing, then repeating. Sure was a different world!
I heard this early one morning on my local public radio station, as the tears rolled down my face, I was touched by the beauty and compassion of these lyrics.
I just read her tweet explaining the meaning of this song, it was for her unborn child at that time. I am blessed to be a mommy of a sweet little boy, and this is gut wrenching and equally soft tune. It hits home like no other piece of their art has. Be well people as we are in a middle of a pandemic taking some unnecessary people at this time. May God protect us all!!
Reading Broken Horses, and visiting every song Brandi mentioned. It's an amazing, teary, sometimes painful journey, as I have my own ghosts leaning in and listening. Carrying you in my heart Kay Douglas.
To the lover of my youth, the solace for my age My protection from what harms You will reach for me on our darkest days And I will come home to your arms And I will hold you dear While my shadow's long and my eyes are clear I know these days will pass away So, I will hold you dear Oh, blessed mother and the father I adore There is time upon your faces I will cherish you until you leave me for your eternal holy places And I will hold you dear While my shadow's long and my eyes are clear I know these days will pass away So, I will hold you dear You're a part of me and the one I love The sweetest years won't tarry You will reach for me when my arms are full And I will lay down the things I carry And I will hold you dear While my shadow's long and my eyes are clear I know these days will pass away So, I will hold you dear I know these days will pass away So, I will hold you dear 来源: Musixmatch 词曲作者:Laura Rogers / Brandi Carlile / Lydia Lane Rogers
