Damn, the seemingly SIMPLE details that Ben puts in his videos places him heads and shoulders above other "tutorials." These things really make him a legit teacher! THANK YOU!
what helps me a lot keeping my shoulders parallel to the ledge is looking quickly at my back foot right when I pop the ollie. it forces me to not turn my shoulders and I can see my back truck aim the ledge. pretty sure that's what Ben's friend is doing at 3:53
Ben, the fact that you're not alone anymore in your videos is really great. I like new interveners !! (i have to make a confession, this night i dream about you speaking french in a video, but withtout any accent at all, i was so surprised and then i woke up).
This video was such a positive mood. The chill vibe, the relaxed pace of the explanation, the whole thing is just an absolute joy to watch. Love the additions of the attempts and the other skaters at the park as well.
whenever i see this guy's skating videos, i always feel like he's gonna whip out a taping knife and hot mud....i just never ever knew this guy skated and had this channel going, even though ive seen this guy's carpenter video all the time over the years
That WAS so sick dude!!!!! (The switch flip) and thanks for the great tips!!! I kinda figured this out today, when I was trying to get my back 50's better and now I can't wait to go get it again!
the video that you posted about '5 tricks every beginner must know' was so so helpful, I did the crab walk and I couldn't do it, but it changed everything. thanks! 🌻
Ben...thanks dude you really stoke me to keep skating at 36. Keep living your best life. There's always a question of if I should keep skating at this age. For me life is far too short to not do the things that you enjoy. It brings me so much joy that I think I'd need to be physically disabled to not get on board. It's an addiction that I don't think I'll ever overcome. And In my head I try justify it as 'healthy' bc as long as I avoid serious injuries it keeps me in shape. I mean I could get mangled as easily driving to work. Or at work. I see so many injuries and none of them were caused by doing something that you truly enjoy. Risk vs reward. I'm glad you can make some money doing what you love. Idc how crazy the trick selection. People just want to see you having fun in skate videos.
Thanks. I can only nollie BS 5050 a small curb ledge. Actually threw my shoulder out a little doing them the other day. This secret tip should help alot thanks!!
For 16 years I had issues with this trick. This year I was able to skate a lot and I focused on learning it well enough. It takes a LOT of effort to do this, to the point that I find easier to bs tail than to bs 50-50(don’t get me started on bs 5-0). It takes so much pop and effort to land a bs 50-50 and it’s also all in the shoulders. Pop high and shifty in the air, lock in and grind for days. I’m still crap at doing them, but I’m more consistent :)
I've been skating 17 years and I can't bs 50 for anything lol I have them down on minis and bowls though ha! I'll keep all you said in mind for rails and ledges.
have you considered adding a first person view camera for these series? especially on fliptricks and certain balanced grind like back smith and back tail this would be hugely beneficial. its an investment of course but yea.
Thanks but I still find it hard. I just find it hard to even get into them for some reason. Much harder than front side not sure why, like I don't have confidence to get on
I notice that when I try to do this trick my back truck is never fully locked in and I often loose balance or my back truck falls off how can I practice just locking in good without a lot of speed?
if your back truck doesn‘t get on you have to focus more on getting actually on top of the obstacle, if your front truck goes into „feeble“ or doesn‘t lock in you have to have your shoulders more parallel to the edge of the obstacle.
Hey Ben - I’ve been trying backside 5050 front 360 out and keep having the problem when I open my shoulders back up to do the 360 I lose the lock in on my back truck making it unstable for me to spin 360 off the ledge. Got any tips?
