How to easily beat 1700s in chess: 1. make a plan for critical moments 2. find complex tactics within 3 seconds or less Easy! Seriously, these are really nice videos. I love seeing how you analyze complex positions. It's hard getting over the hump between openings and endgames, and these videos help me seeing how to find a path forward, even if it can be challenging in practice.
17:26 This is why I click on the piece, then click on the destination square. Picking up the pieces and moving them is not a good idea when playing rapid. In two years of playing, I have yet to do a mouse slip.
I had full empathy when you mouse slipped because I did it myself today - I was on the brink of checkmate so went from heaven to hell in a single moment 😢
I loved the first game. All logical and not much of memorised lines and lecture on opening theory. Loved it! And, great players also mouse slip sometimes, huh? 😂
I originally commented that after black moved nf4 at 14:22, white rd8+, black kg7, white could win a rook by nh5, forking black's rook and king. However, I removed that comment after both wisetree and Alessia correctly pointed out that this combination would not work because black's knight on f4 covers the h5 square. Thanks to them for correcting me, and to Alessia for being such a good teacher, charming and entertaining, and very gracious.
Excellent presentation as usual. Enjoyed watching this one and trying to work out what I would do as you explained your thoughts. Also loved the thumbnail!
I tend to reserve my upvotes for the point in the video that makes me laugh or say "ohhh, so that's how that works." Today it was right after the mouse slip.
