This just pop'ed up on my feed and I have no experience in music production but that song is banging! Which song is it? I wished more producers took more attention to the perceived sounds. Sometimes a song with great drums and riffs get a really anti climax feeling when it just doesn't hit that perceived volume.
I am using that same Slate FG-X 2 as my last insert on the 2 bus in Studio One 6.6 pro. What goes just before FG-X 2? Hmm, well it's Softube Clipper just about 3 dB clipping in the RMS section, and about 1 dB peak clip at the most. Then crazy Dave has next to last Schwabe Gold Clip doing another 1-2 dB clipping. Do I have to use both, probably not, but it sounds good to me. My ceiling is -1 dBFS on FG-X 2. It's really there more like a maximizer, the compressor is active but more to allow me to adjust mid side a bit. Earlier on in the 2 bus, SSL G3 is doing a 1-2 dB glue over the 3 bands. Excellent demo and explaining as always Andrew. Thanks much.
