I love the idea of useful acronyms. One I use while journaling is DREAM (Draw, Record, Explore, Analyse, Memorise). I find it easier to first draw an image from my dream, and then start recording details. Then I daydream a bit about the dream (explore), and I look for patterns (analyse). Lastly I try to memorize my dreams, at least so that I can recall some from the top of my head. I will experiment with the FATE system. Thank you for sharing Daniel. Hope it's going to he as helpful as ILD and CORE

I have been lucid dreaming for many years now, but last night was my most realistic and controlled dream, I dreamt of sitting on a balcony with my partner but realising that it was suddenly dark outside when minutes before I was waking up on saw that it was 7am on the clock in my dream, suddenly I was walking with my parents on the street with being aware that this is not real as it was light again... at this point, I have speculated if all of this is real, I asked my father if I am in a dream, he did not answer, I checked my hands and clapped and realised that my hands went through each other, this is when I became fully aware that I am dreaming, I went on to experiment to try flying which I did and jumped on a building roof, but woke up... this was an amazing experience of fully being aware in my sleep that I was dreaming, hope to experience more of this! Thank you for your info!

While I've understood (or is the right word "known" in this case) the benefits and reasons as to keep a dream journal, I've never fully known why people keep day journals. This is just person experience here but I've always found that writing and even drawing stuff out ends up making those feelings worse, especially since I would only do those things whenever I was feeling anger or really bad thoughts. I would only do it because I was told "it would be good for me." Not only that but I would never journal on my good days. It became a thing I hated and eventually would give up on. That's possibly why I find it so hard to dream journal. I've tried multiple times but, in the end, it just feels like punishment in the morning. I would write things down and get bored of it very quickly, often going from detailed sentences to very vague and short ones. I would only do it not because it would be good for me but because I felt like I had to, therefore all of the benefits were negated. I think this video shows that there are different ways to dream journal and that those sentences don't have to be long and drawn out. All I actually need to do is to focus on these FATE and then expand when I need to or when I get more comfortable with dream journaling. I don't need to complicate things or drive myself crazy because I don't know how to write something out. Just build up over time - I can't be perfect out of the gates. Thanks for a great video. I'll try dream journaling again and try to get a better relationship (probably not the right word but my mind isn't fully there right now) with it. I hope I can keep it up this time with this new guidance!

@@LucidDreamPortal For me, I think, the key is feelings. Literally like a key to unlock a door to my actions, thoughts and events. Recalling my feelings - recalls my dreams. I think this is also very powerful for the daytime experience. I regain and maintain my waking dream, which I do not always see - experience. Feeling is the secret. Feeling draws me out of a fog.

Hii, I started being a bit frustrated with LD, I have been trying consistently for 17 days without success, using reality checks, dream journal, and wild, WBTB and mild, and yes I made sure that I was making my reality checks without being on auto mode, the biggest obstacle for me is that I take a lot of time to fall asleep, so with mild, it's hard to keep thinking about what you're going to dream tonight for 40min, and a lot of times when I use methods that include sleep disruptions, I just can't fall back asleep(I am a really light sleeper) is this normal? The thing that annoyed me is that I really tried my hardest, only progress that I made is that I am remembering at least a dream a day, and I had dream awareness(not lucidity tho) on 3 occasions. And thank you for your content, truly the best LD teacher on RU-vid.
@isaquedopao6667
@isaquedopao6667 Год назад
don't worry it's normal, also you don't really need tecniques to lucid dream, i for example rely solely on reality checks, dream journaling and observing my dream journal for things like dream signs. Tecniques are mostly just a way to get lucid dreams fast, but they aren't meant to be used everyday i believe. And i recommend you stop using tecniques that interrupt your sleep, it seems they just aren't for you, plus they might make you have less rem if you use them too much (rem is the stage of sleep when you dream)
@isaquedopao6667
@isaquedopao6667 Год назад
and it might takes more than 17 days to really start lucid dreaming for some people, i was unlucky like you, i couldn't lucid dream at all, but after years of giving up and coming back to lucid dreaming i learned that the key is being persistent, i know it might be hard to keep a good sleep schedule, dream journal every morning and doing reality checks everyday, but if you persist i'm sure you will become very good at lucid dreaming

Wow, I've been AWOL. This is another great video. The one I'm a little stuck on is Actions. Usually my actions differences between waking and dreaming are fairly subtle but my reactions are more pronounced which I guess could be considered actions. There are times where my actions or reactions are vastly different and that sometimes helps me understand that I'm dreaming.

I've started back up with trying to lucid dream after stopping for a while. A concern I have is that I might be building bad habits with reality checks. I try to check every time I think "am I dreaming?", or something along those lines. My problem is that I think that about every 15 minutes. Should I be reality checking if the only thing indicating that I should is a thought like that? It's just been hard during those times to truly question my reality.
@LucidDreamPortal
@LucidDreamPortal Год назад
Yeah every 15 minutes is far too often, and not a healthy (or useful) approach - it would just lead to mindless reality tests. The idea is to catch yourself when you are in a mindless state, and snap out of it. Only reality testing when you are clear headed is like training an already trained horse. You'll never be in a clear state of mind in a dream, therefore you need to train the unclear mind during waking hours... train the untrained horse.

I thought the F was going to stand for "feeling" (no s) as in the "feeling" of the dream. Because every single time I've had a lucid dream for the last three months, and many times before that, I've known to reality test because of how I physically felt in the dream. (Also, I'm currently on a streak of LDing every two days because of this!) My head just feels fuzzy, but also pressure-filled, and somehow numb in ways heads don't feel while awake. That's kind of stupid. Last night I was Wednesday Addams, my grandfather was Richard Gilmore, rabbits had hidden red eyes under their fur, and I could zoom into physical maps like pictures. Yet, as I stood as Wednesday in Richard's office and prepared to enter the attic I'd zoomed into on my map, I got the head feeling and only THEN did I question if it was a dream. And yet it works. For now. I like your "feelings" point better, though. In almost a year of learning and journaling, I've never noticed my emotions in dreams are stronger. Looking back, it seems obvious. Someone offends me in waking life, I don't care and discard them. Someone does it while dreaming, I scream and cry. Knowing that should help substantially.
