You are my Hero ❤️ I'll tell you how you helped me take better decisions: 1. The lip balm I make with your formulations are way more creamy and hydrating than any lipbalm I bought. 2. I buy squalane in bulk from a supplier instead of buying 30ml from skincare brands, it saved a lot of money 3. Marie, I made AloeVera gel back March 18 2023 for my daughter after he start reading store bought ingredients and got tired of paying for nothing close to AloeVera using our homegrown plants and is holding up with no issues so far. I added vit B5 since she used mainly on her hair. Thank you so much. Glad to see your videos again.

I wish you could do a video about how different concentrations of xanthan gum and other gums look like at different viscosities, like 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 etc for use in water based serums...there are no videos on this on the internet :(

Hi Marie, I am a beginner formulater, actually i did my aleo vera gel using xanthom gum clear but it felt more sticky on skin.insted of xanthom gum I using carbomer. Is that carbomer skin friendly? But I like to do with xanthomgum. any suggestions from ur side for this issue

What is the active ingredient of liquid German Plus? It is very difficult to find and I have been reading that it is formaldehyde.

Hi Marie. Thanks for this tip. Can i ask if i can use natural aloe Vera gel to make this your formula? I don't have the aloe vera juice which is the more liquid-like one you use. Plus since you mentioned it being an electrolyte, does it mean i should always use sepimax in my formula with aloe vera gel?

Dear Humblebee & Me, I live in Southern California where my aloe grows like weed and I am trying to make my own aloe vera gel to use it in creams and other products. I make my own gel using fresh leaves, glycerine, carboxymethyl cellulose. After putting all together, I autoclave the mixture and after cooled, the preservative. Good texture and no microorganisms for a long period.

I made some aloe vera gel earlier this year, but with hydroxyethyl cellulose as the gelling agent. While I generally like what I made, Ill have to try the xantham gum as the hec gel piles a bit if I use too much on my skin. Thanks!

I tried to make some aloe vera gel earlier in the year and encountered all of these issues. Managed to sort most of them by adding the glycerin, using aloe vera leaf juice and germall plus. Couldnt work out what to use instead of my normal xanthan gum so kept feeling snotty but still worked functionally even though it didnt feel that great. Im going to try the sepimax zen formula and im very excited for it 😁 Glad to have your videos again Marie 😊

You should easily get a year out of it assuming you follow good manufacturing procedures and don't make any substitutions. If you choose a different preservative that may change.

What alternatives are there to the carcinogenic xanthan gum? And, is there any reason to no substitute the germicide in your recipe for something like cinnamon, or even clove, honey, or rosemary?

I didn't test Siligel (Xanthan Gum (and) Lecithin (and) Sclerotium Gum (and) Pullulan) for this formulation. It has excellent electrolyte resistance so should work, but you will have to do your own experiments so see how much you need to get the desired viscosity. The manufacturer also advises "To maximize the viscosity result, it is highly recommended to be under the highest shear conditions as possible and to standardize them by using a rotor stator type homogenizer and/or by applying the highest rotation speed as possible.", so the hand-stirred method I've used might not be the best choice. Happy making!
