Red kidney beans 300 gm (soak over night or for 6-8 hours)
Water 1.5 cups (as required)

Black cardamom / Badi ilaichi 2 pieces
Clove / Long 2-3 pieces
Cinnamon stick / Daar cheeni 2-3 pieces
Bay leaf / Tez pat 2 pieces
Onion / Piyaz 1 large (diced)
Cumin / Zeera 1 teaspoon
Ginger / Adrak 1 tablespoon heaped (chopped)
Garlic / Lehsun 1 tablespoon heaped (chopped)
Green chilli / Hari mirch 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Tomatoes / Tamatar 3 pieces (peeled and blended)
Salt / Namak 1.5 teaspoons (according to taste)
Turmeric powder / Haldi 3/4 teaspoon
Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder 1 teaspoon (heaped)
Chilli powder / Lal mirch 1 teaspoon
Black pepper / Kutti kali mirch 1 teaspoon (crushed)
Water 1 cup
Clarified butter / Desi ghee 2 tablespoons
Kasuri methi 1 teaspoon
Fresh coriander / Hara dhaniya 2 tablespoons (chopped)
