i really wish he would make a video "this is why Navy Seals don't compete in shooting competitions" ... because if you can't see them demonstrate that skill and you'd expect them to be able to like at least half ass perform in that respect as "it's their job".... well why do people listen to them

Let's break this horseshit down in very VERY simple terms... The secret to reach ANY of your goals is the one second rule.... My goal is to eat the fucking universe in its' entirety and become space jeebus!!! So according to your title, all I need is the one second rule and poof I reach my goal.... Didn't think a goal that's physically and biologically impossible was SO EASY to reach!!! WOW!!!! XD Or your title is utter clickbait.... XD

I heard a guy in Special Forces Assessment and Selection say, "I'll quit tomorrow." That confused me at first but the next day he told me, "I'll quit tomorrow." Long story short but we both got selected and became Green Berets but that was how he got past that one second and it has stuck with me. Give yourself permission to quit, just not today. I will let myself quit next time, but I will survive this time. You can always push one more time.

I made the biggest mistake of my life and I wish I had watched this video before making my decision. I put in two years of hard work to become an Officer in the United States Marine Corps, while at OCS going through the training, after 1 month I reached a point where I was just miserable, cold, and wanted to be home with my family. I inevitably dropped out, thinking it was the right decision at the time. I came to regret it more than any other decision in my life. I love this video because it expresses how humans act exactly in difficult situations and it was 100% the same for me when I made mine to what David Goggins explained here. I now know what I want in my life and am pursuing it without fail, and will continue to try my best at everything I do.

I was the lucky one. I'm a European. I said to him fuck America. I'm going back home to Ireland and I was gone. Andrew was told. Jail or the army. He became a marine. He did 4 years. They offered him 20k to do 1 more year he said no. I had a plane ticket booked for Orlando. Jan 2005 I was going to meet up with him. In Nov 2004 I got a phone call to say he was dead..I still went over in 05 and met his family. They gave me his purple heart which I hang framed in my living room. He was an only child. RIP Andrew. 🙏

I went through surgery that left me fighting for my life, and what I learned in that struggle is, no matter how bad something is, there will be a time when it is in the rear view mirror. It's temporary. It's easy to think everything is forever, good or bad, but it isn't. The good times are temporary, so really appreciate them and enjoy them. And the bad times are temporary, so just endure them any way you have to, and just get through it one moment at a time and then it will pass. And if it is so bad that you die, well then it won't matter will it, and at least you didn't quit.

Similar to the mind set I developed as a very good long distance runner, and then later a fighter. Steve Prefontaine said; "If you can't take the pain, you can't do the distance." He was spot on. These one second decisions came fast and furious when training hard but especially when racing, when your lungs are burning, when your muscles are screaming, when there is a guy right next to you you have to beat, but you want to quit. I learned to make those one second decisions. Same with fighting. Same training mentality, but amped way up in fights. Got your bell, rung, exhausted, want to quit, but you make those one second decisions to keep going. I suspect wrestling is the same way, Swimming, water polo, etc...

this helped me. Im in jrotc and i had to run 14 miles within a time limit. It was hyped at first, but then it really hurt. By mile 10 i felt like i couldn't go anymore, but i kept going. If i finish this, i dont have to do it again. And i kept pushing. Now i have the Baatan death march ribbon now 💪 in the end, its worth it. Goodluck yall

What he is describing is called dissociation. It’s a mental game; you disconnect your experience from reality, so the pain, cold, fatigue etc doesn’t ‘enter’ your brain. I did this a lot when I used to do hard training (I’ve been an swimmer and waterpoloër for most of my younger years…).

I have so much respect for people who go through things like Hell Week. During the years I learned that our body is capable of so much more than we think. 95% of the time our mind makes us give up, not our body. What helps me to get through physically challenging situations is that I learned to enjoy them and make the best out of the situation. For example last year I did an Alcatraz swim, but suddenly started to get worried about sharks when I noticed a large black shadow swimming below me. Instead of giving up and climbing into the boat I could convice myself that getting killed by a great white shark while I am swimming from Alcatraz would be the way I would want to be remembered. From there on my mind found peace and I enjoyed the rest of my swim without any fear.
@alakazamhippity3192
@alakazamhippity3192 11 месяцев назад
You understand that fear is what our mind uses as a defense mechanism and survival instinct yeah? You going that shark might kill me and saying ah fuck it is just stupid, not brave or clever but outright stupid.
@swegotech8466
@swegotech8466 11 месяцев назад
@@alakazamhippity3192 I understand that, but the shark isn't going to kill you. The movie Jaws and the media just scared us. On average 5 people get killed per year in the US by sharks.... that's not a lot, but we have an unreasonable amount of fear. Chances that people in the ocean are drowning, because they can not swim are way higher. When you can overcome this fear but don't do anything stupid like splashing water, turning your back to the shark, swimming in murky water etc., the risk isn't by far not as high as you think. It's all about to calculate your risk. I've had it happen that there were some dogs for exmple where I didn't get to close to because they were acting in a weird way.
@alakazamhippity3192
@alakazamhippity3192 11 месяцев назад
@@swegotech8466 I know sharks don't tend to attack humans but that would depend on the type of shark and if they even slightly perceived you as a seal or prey you would get mincemeated quite quickly. So while it's a really cool story I'd also point out that ignoring fear isn't a great idea if the option is death lmao. I absolutely respect your ability to risk evaluate and having the knowledge though.
@swegotech8466
@swegotech8466 11 месяцев назад
@@alakazamhippity3192 and that is why I avoid swimming in murky water in general. Chances that a shark perceive you as a seal are too high for me. However, for my Alcatraz swim I had no other chance than to swim in murky water. But for me that was a once in a lifetime thing I always wanted to do, so I took that risk. Even when this was much more dangerous than staying at home an sitting on the couch. lol

Here's a simple fact to keep in mind after your self proclaimed prep rally is done: sometimes no matter you do, how much you prepare or how many 1 second decisions you make..sometimes there are things out of your control that will stop or prevent you from reaching a goal. I spent nearly 26,280hrs (nearly 3yrs) making 1 second decisions from thr age of 10 battling stage 4 cancer. After beating that, ALL I wanted to do was serve my country in the Military, I knew the SEALS where for me, nothing could beat me down or stop me is what I felt. Spent every waking moment working towards that goal through high school. Achieved and passed everything the recruiter wanted and needed..top of the charts on everything, all the way up to MEPS. Only to be denied cause of my cancer. That was and still is a big hit for me.

I'm a vet, and would have been proud to call you one of our own. You were already better than most of us. But the sad truth is the military is a numbers game, based on stats and inputs. We don't all fit every role. Now, that said...there are a lot of ways to serve. Have you ried talking to DoD civilian side? Trust me, they do some good work, too.

My late husband was in Special Forces infantry and spent 5 years in combat in Viet Nam and was highly decorated for his valor. In the many years I knew him, I never saw him get angry and lose his temper nor did I ever hear him use the "f" word which indicates an inner anger. He used to calmly say, "You don't have to like it, just do it." and "You don't have a need to know, just do it." He often ran recon and once was forced to hide underwater breathing through a bamboo tube for three days with leeches sucking on a knee gash that took 200 stitches to close. He received high awards for rescuing ARVN soldiers who were trapped after a live charge was set to destroy them. He had a bunch of Purple Hearts and for years I used to pull shrapnel out of his body. He never had to go to combat as he was the only son to carry on the family name and he was in college in his fourth year, but he chose to go because he knew he had the skills and could keep other guys alive and he loved the US and democracy. This soldier received a field commission and later became a company commander. He was an excellent leader because he was so well respected for his cool reasoning and lack of emotional reactions. He would not have listened to your video after the third or fourth time of hearing your foul language because it indicates a lack of control and an inner anger that has no place on the battlefield. The word "F--ing" is a selfish and immature way to express your own anger and does not give your men practical information that will help them in a crisis moment.
