Recruiting Human Resources for your company is a hugely important task, and for many hiring managers, it is easy to spot great candidates. Deepak challenges how we have looked at stellar job applicants and urges us to look in places we haven’t before and look for people we haven’t looked to before.
When Deepak was hiring for his company a couple of years ago, he came across an applicant that stood out from the rest for completely different reasons than you’d imagine: she had no relevant experience, she was a single mother and had gone through many hardships in her life. Instead of looking for someone else, Deepak decided to take a chance on the young woman and has since been thoroughly impressed with her performance. Now, he urges hiring managers to reconsider how they hire, and on what basis, in order to build a more diverse and resilient team. Deepak is the founder of The Pearl Lemon Group. Interests in Search Engine Marketing, B2B Lead Generation, Property, Accountancy, Vegan Food and a collection of SaaS tools. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

0:30 Sometimes experts and professionals are wrong, and you need to be able to adapt and discover the secrets no one actually knows yet. Advice can only go so far. 1:40 Lydia is amazing 😉 2:20 You don't have to have experience to be amazing at something. Sometimes the things you think you're good at are actually not what you are an expert at and the only way to learn what you're really capable of is to try new things and see where they end you up. 2:45 It's amazing how many people have no experience with working from home. We are so used to commuting to work and checking in at the office that we don't stop to think how we can be productive at home.(well until 2020 forced us to adjust) 3:00 Sometimes a new recruit is the key that you need to making your company successful. And sometimes you might accidentally pass that recruit up and move on. 4:30 Sometimes assumptions are wrong. 6:30 Experience sometimes doesn't mean anything. And sometimes it's the unexpected that is exactly what you need to be successful 11:10 Run towards resilience, don't run away. :)

2:15 Miss Lydia is amazing @.@ 5:00 society stereotypes aren't enough to define people-- they're called stereotypes for a reason 10:37 the best personnel you can hire are those that are self-made and are ready to work hard on what they want to achieve 11:06 look for people who have character, emotional robustness, and the constitution to believe in themselves

Resumes are not a good way to determine whether or not a candidate has the right attitude to do the job. Deepak's approach to recruitment is more likely to help him find great talent and more business owners need to make changes as well
