theory: why Great Fairies are attracted to Link: as Goddesses they wish they got to have their own chosen hero like Hylia does with Link and are hoping they can get Link to swap Goddesses
Considering links and Zelda are In a relationship in skyward sword and skyward sword’s Zelda is Hylia incarnation and not a descendant which means that link is all the other Zelda’s ancestor so maybe the reason the hero incarnates isn’t because of evil forces threatening hyrule it’s to protect his blood line and lead them on the right path.
Concerning the mystery of Angular Isle: 5:55 If you superimpose the map of Ocarina of Time on that of Wind Waker, you'll see that Angular Island is located near the Kokiri Forest and the old Great Deku Tree. Maybe this was intentional. With the birthplace of fairies so close by, it allowed the Great Deku Tree an infinite supply of fairies to help him run the forest, and protect the Kokiri. But in Wind Waker the flood must have prevented the new Deku Tree from accessing the cave on Angular Island, and explains why he no longer has fairies to do his bidding. It also explains why the cave is so lifeless. The forest no longer reaches the cave.
Maybe instead of cyclos being the gatekeeper maybe he’s imprisoned her for her power and only let few get to her and utilize her power. That’s why her island is surrounded by his winds
Zelda's vision from BotW: I believe she saw a vision of herself, engaged in battle with darkness. Either her future self buried inside the essence of the Calamity Ganon. Or, conversely, without being too spoilery for ToTK.... she may have seen a very ancient vision of herself carefully communicating with her over time, preparing her.
"神/kami" often gets translated into English as "god/goddess" and while that's not an incorrect translation, it does lose a lot nuance and doesn't really mean "god" in the way we in the West would think of it.
The reason the Fairy Queens are attracted to Link could be because he’s the most courageous, and possesses the qualities of a true hero. They could recognize this
I think those fairies show infatuation towards link because he is THE GODDESS CHAMPION. THE GODDESS. THE one and only hylia who is probably the most powerful god in the Zelda universe
The first line I can definitely see; however, Hylia isn’t the most powerful goddess, the three golden Gods (Nayru, Farore, and Din) are the creators, and the most powerful beings in the Zelda universe.
My guess for why Fairy Queens are attracted to Link would be the Hero's Spirit. Forged in Skyward Sword's Spirit Realms, to balance Link's spirit to use the Triforce. This spirit is also passed down to future incarnations of Link.
You should take notice of a key aspect of Japanese culture: Shintoism Fairies being gods (kami) is plain as day. "Gods" for us westerners has a different connotation than it would have for a Japanese, whose Animistic culture follows the idea of "gods" being anything from deities, forces of nature, spirits, or just mythical beings.
What if... the sand goddess was juust the fairy we see in the desert in botw? P3rhaps she blessed the first settlers to endure the scorching heat until they eventually transformed into Gerudo
As much as I love the THICC BotW/TotK fairy design, I honestly really miss the four armed fairies from wind waker. Probably my favorite design in the series just cause how different they were
We seem to be intended to understand that Link is *very* handsome. The amount of female characters across various games that have mentioned his attractiveness is weirdly high. The biggest ones to come to mind immediately are Princess Ruto and Nabooru. Ruto wanted to marry Link because he was handsome and brave. Nabooru even tells him that if she had known how handsome he was gonna be as an adult that she would have offered him "something else" as a kid. It is very possible the Great and Queen fairies are just also seeing him as very handsome.
Why are the Faeries attracted to Link? Because he’s a studmuffin, obviously.. duh 🙄 Ask the Fishbabes… they can’t get enough of the Hero of Time!!! 🤣🧜🏻♀️🧚♀️
This was a great video! I've always thought about the fairies in the Zelda games because of their uniqueness, but never imagined they'd be tied to the dieties in the Zelda universe. Very cool!! 💜ω💜
I have an idea for a new title…. Legend of Zelda: The Beacon of Hope The game would have a dark western cowboy theme like twilight princess but have the vast open layout like breath of the wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The land will be scattered with different ranches, animals, characters, etc… Basically, instead of scattered shrines you will have huge ranches, farms, and villages scattered throughout the land that will be apart of the main story but also used for side quests and item fetching for certain goods that you will need throughout the game. Link is considered an average worker until the story and game progresses and by the end of the game he becomes a real cowboy that saves the land from outside intruders. Dungeons will take place outside of the mainland and into certain areas like forests, mountains, swamps, lakes, caves, etc… Lastly, it will have a dark western theme. Like a combo of Zelda and Red Dead put together!!!! First M rated Zelda game that uses pistols, shotguns, fist fights, blood, gore, profanity, nudity, etc… and new enemies would include alligators and snakes in the deep swamps and giant polar bears in the high snowy mountains. Opening cutscene will have Link getting hiss ass beat in a fist fight by the toughest rancher and he has to go back to work the next day with a black eye. In the middle of the game Link will have a rematch which will establish him as head rancher and that moment will be the equivalent to him growing up in Ocarina of Time by pulling the master sword. I know this might sound kinda stupid but these were just some thoughts I had LOL but let me know what y’all think??? ⚔️ 🤠
Honestly, I think it’s all a misunderstanding of Japanese culture. Kami in Japanese or better within the Shinto faith are quite a bit different than the kind of gods we know from Judaism or Greek mythology. Even weak nature spirits can be referred to as kami. And about the angular island thing I think this might just be a reference to 8 bit Zelda. That’s my take on this topic.
I take it its not a new theory. However I wonder if everything, evil existing or at least being allowed to constantly come in cycles. Is it all the will of the true goddess? Like did the goddess fall in love with Link once in the past. But naturally they would not be able to stay together forever. So to make sure they would always have something between them she created or at least allowed all the evil stuff we constantly have to deal with. All so she can play her little love game.
As there is technically 4 great Divine goddess (Golden's+hylia) maybe the fairy's are fractures of them? The lower ones being from the Golden's and the greats+ being from hylia because she stays around? That's also why fi is connected to her specifically. Some of the minor fairy's could also be from hylia (like navi who is sometimes theorized to become the queen of twilight princess.)

The fairies are, presumably, charged by Hylia with aiding Link. It's possible that after centuries of meeting with his various incarnations, they began to develop feelings for him as he was one of the few constants in their immortal lives. (Of course, this does not make the Fairy Queen hitting on a ten year old boy any less creepy.)
I don't know if this could explain the fairies infatuation with Link but I have an idea. First off Link is given the triforce of courage by the goddess farore. The triforce piece would have a considerable amount of force power in it. If you look at A Link to The Past and Ocarina of Time you have to get three items that are associated with the three goddesses. After which you are able to get the Master Sword which has the fairy spirit Fi which has force power. I believe that with that much goddess power flowing through Link the Great Fairies and Queens might be seeing one of their own a godlike individual that has been favored by the gods the fairies revere.
Kami is used for any form of natural spirit, they don't have Gods or Goddesses as the West understands the term. The term Megami specifies the Kami as being female, while Kami is gender neutral and can refer to a male or female spirit. The sword spirits are Tsukumogami, a type of Kami that gives life to objects; most often Tsukumogami are depicted as mischievous or malicous and possess objects that have been neglected and abused but also refers to beneign spirits that inhabit ancestral objects that have been passed down for generations and are more than 100 years old (and have been tended to and used for that duration), most commonly ancestral swords. Kami can be evil and are still refered to as Kami, but they can also be refered to as Yokai (Ghost, Spirit), or if they are very powerful or particularely evil Akuma (Devil) or Mao (Demon Lord), while animal spirits of mischievous or ambivalent nature are refered to as Bakemono. Shikigami, magical paperdoll talismanta, are not Kami, despite the suffix ~gami. While the Kami type "Yokai" means Ghost, there is a different kind of Ghost, Yurei and Hitodama, that are not Kami but instead refer to the souls of dead humans.
I think the great fairies are attracted to Link because he is a hot person saving the world AND he knows how to cook. Who wouldn’t want to date Link. Honestly…..
I believe that link is just like zelda is the reincarnation of hylia and represents the wisdom of Nayru in the triforce and ganondorf the demon king who is technically a form god and reencarnated into the human ganondorf representing the power of din. Therefore Link might as well be another God or form of god just like ganondorf who reencarnated into a human in order to assist Hylia as well and that would be the so called "Spirit of courage". Maybe he was a fairy God in his original life, the fairy king of courage who decided to give away his divinity to assist hylia. Specially since we see every other hylian and how weak they are, link stands beyond them even as a child with little training. Also taking into consideration that Link from skyward sword was probably not the first hero and that was the first time hylia reencarnated as a human to make the hero herself by hand and making him go through trials using his love for her. Maybe the fairy king of courage already loved hylia and they agreed to use his love for her to make his reincarnation of himself push further to becoming stronger and stronger in order to defeat demise. Therefore, there were more heroes before skyward sword but non were hand made by hylia using a king fairy god soul/spirit of courage to represent the fairies. I believe that this is possible because if fi was a form of fairy and agreed to become a sword, maybe that was because like the other fairies, Fi also loves link / the fairy king and became the master sword so assist him and stay by his side.
i think zelda saw in her dreams Soniah plus the fact that she couldn't unlock the power makes somehow understand the true identity of Hylia aka a human WHO was worshipped as a god by the people
I know that Tinkerbell in Peter Pan, based on other past fairy folklore, are said to only be able to hold one emotion at a time and thus emotionally intensify that one emotion
My theory about why the Great Fairies were attracted to Link has always been that Link is part fairy and Great Fairies can pick up on than and they're "excited" about the prospect of a male fairy.
Awesome video again guys. A step up from your previous one, especially in the production. But the lore keeping is top notch too. I like the extra flourishes, it helps to differentiate your content from the rest of Zeldatube. I had no idea about the Angular Isles being the birthplace of the Great Fairies in TWW. Now I have something to theorise about!😁 Here's a quick theory about why the Great Fairies are drawn to Link: Fairies are primarily spirits of Force, or life energy. Farore is the Great Goddess of Life and Courage. Therefore, there's a connection between life/Force and Courage, which is strength of Heart (another symbol of life). Link's greatest quality is Courage. So it makes sense for the Great Fairies to be drawn to him. I agree with your conclusion that Fairies are gods, and that gaining Force could elevate a mortal to godhood/becoming a fairy. There's possible evidence for this in OoT, when butterflies turn into fairies if they touch a Deku Stick. Butterflies are already connected with sacred energy in the series, so they probably already have a relatively large amount of Force. Some Deku Sticks are said to come from the Great Deku Tree, which has a huge amount of Force. But even Sticks from Babas would have some Force. So when a butterfly lands on a Deku Stick, it might be absorbing that Force, which causes it to ascend into a spirit. It's possible that many fairies start off this way. The Great Fairies in TMC are styled after different insects. And, as you pointed out in your video, Fi believes that fairies are a type of insect.
you said very close to the end of the video that the bargainer statue in breath of the wild could be the dark version of hylia just like fi but wouldn't her dark counterpart be demise
Theory: Maybe Hylia divide herself onto multiple entities, one in zelda so she can use her sealing powers, and the other parts in fairies, so she can aide the new reincarnation of the hero, everytime in his path to become the hero of courage.
as far as the great fairies being attracted to link. one thought on it that i have ties to the fierce deity mask in majoras mask. i think the events that led to skyward sword may have had hylia create such a deity to battle the first incarnation of demise and though it lead to the end of the fierce deity it may have allowed the first attempt to seal him or something along those lines. either way i think that link inherits not just some of the physical attributes of the fierce deity but a great deal of its energy/aura of the great courage and other attractive traits along with some of their own familiarity of being chosen by hylia there may be some level of envy. in such a way that men who struggle to find themselves attractive to women become a great deal more attractive during the period in which they have a woman.
Uh? @4:54 People calling a Fairy Fountain "Goddess" anything, doesn't make them such. @6:48 Is Malanya really a Fairy? Just because Nintendo re-used assets for it? I don't think Malanya or anyone of importance in-game ever refers to it as a Fairy. All you have is a "The Horse Fairy" from an Official Guide... in English. I don't think this "groundwork" was properly established.
