There is far more to minecraft parkour than meets the eye, from 5 block jumps to 1.5 high block jumps. The mechanics, bugs and exploits are incredible, and the parkour community has discovered so much. There is also a minecraft server older than 2b2t, and almost as old as minecraft online, with over a decade of history...

Hey, I'm from the parkour community and there's a few things I would like to point out in this video (sorry I might seem a little nitpicky though) This video is good in many ways but im mostly commenting on the not-so-good portions of this video so I might sound a little one-sided Firstly, I'm thankful that you're raising awareness of the more complicated side of parkour, since most people do not know much about parkour and the parkour community. It's just that things would have been better if you seeked help from people in the parkour community to prevent several misinformation from spreading which I will point out later. Secondly, the feeling I get from this video is that it was rushed. It feels like you skimmed through a bunch of videos from the parkour community, read through the parkour wiki, drew serveral conclusions, and then made a video about those without consulting people who actually knows stuff. Thirdly, you should provide links or credits to some of the sources you got your information from, like links to channels. You didn't fully credit every video used (I know someone commented it before you put blip's and Ub's channel in the disc, but there are still some others not credited. This isn't the main point of my message though) Now for the details, I'll try to point out the mistakes that I spotted in this video to stop some misinformation from spreading, 1) 1:15 Your jump height in 1.8 is 1.24919 blocks, while jump height in 1.9 and above is 1.25 blocks. It's not "one block" as you said. I'm not sure if you're just trying to simplify things, but if you are, you're oversimplifying it to a point where misinformation will be spread 2) 1:40 (just a minor correction) Blips occur when you land between 2 different y levels of the same tier. Same tier meaning that you will fall past those 2 different y levels within a tick. You will end up jumping off the ground one tick eariler 3) 4:00 Its important to take note that 45 strafes doesn't increase your movement speed. It's more like NOT doing 45 strafe decreases your movement speed. Your speed can be scaled to 0.98 without 45 strafes, and scaled to 1 with a 45 strafe. With a simple calculation, take arccos(0.98) you will get about 11.478 degrees, which is about 0.2 radians. This brings me to the next mistake of the video at 4:45. It's not 10 degrees, it's 11.478 4) 5:06 "its incredibly difficult to do it consistently" is a little inaccurate. Many people in the parkour community can do it consistently, with only minutes of practice (sorry I might seem a little nitpicky here, but I wanna point out even the slightest inaccuracies) Also, to do that jump you need bwmm (backwards momentum), you can't just run it and try to 45 strafe it, like what you did in the video 5) "Jump canceling" has 2 varients, "slab boost" and "grind". "Slab boost" is the one shown at 6:15. However, at 6:20 what you're doing is getting "headhitter momentum", you're not doing a jump cancel. The way to do a jump cancel under a 2bc (2 block ceiling) is to jump out of the hh (headhitter) then turn back in a tick later. This is called "grinding". What you did in the video was just spamming space under a 2bc, but the actual jump cancel is jumping out of the hh then turning back in and repeating that process again and again. (The turning has to be like 0.5 degrees only) So yeah 6:34 is completely wrong as well, because that is called headhitter momentum, not jump canceling or grinding. 6) 8:20 it has been done by several people in the parkour community That should be all. I'm sorry if I sounded too nitpicky but I just want to put these out there, and hopefully you can correct some of those in order to prevent the spread of misinformation. Overall, this video is really well made, and it is very intriguing to people who don't know about parkour. However, there are some misinformation, which could be prevented by reaching out to some parkourers when researching

This is a good video, but I'll just point out something very minor: 6:30 isn't actually an example of jump cancel because your Y level still changes. It is close to jump cancel though because you can jump every 3 ticks under a headhitter, and you can jump every 2 ticks with jump cancel.

Hey Nice video! I'd like to correct some stuff listed here: - At 2:34, you've put a "wall blip" as a very high 3+ block blip and a "blip up" as a chest into carpet to slab. The latter is correct, but the high 3+ block jumps are still called "blip ups". "Wall blips" are a fairly recent blip mechanic that doesn't use 2 different height blocks of the same tier, but uses a flat ground and a wall with a ceiling added into it (the wall has to be facing +X and -X (east and west)) and it applies stepping mechanic if you precisely jump into it for some reason. If you're confused about this explanation (I tried my best), there's a video of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vueSpP-P53U.html I assume you forgot to show the 2nd blip type so I don't really know if it was simply an editing error or just a misunderstanding. - At 4:55 you're doing an incorrect setup, it cannot be done like that even with 45° strafe. That specific jump you're doing requires a different method of 1 block momentum that is called "backwards momentum". It's a more complex variant than the much easier backward momentum for 1 block momentum 4 block jump with 3 block ceiling (uses the same timing but incorporates holding a strafe key for 1 tick) and needs some coordinate setup work. There are easier variants of 45 strafe like 6 block momentum 5-1 block to pane (still needs some coordinate setup work because you're not using all of the momentum tehnically). - A 45° strafe doesn't have to be 1 tick timing, it only applies for fairly precise jumps. There are other inprecise jumps where you can delay your 45 strafe into 2+ ticks. There is even a long jump where you only need to 45° strafe at the last or second last tick before landing. Overall it's a great video! I enjoyed it and I like the explanations you put into the complex mechanics. I understand you didn't want to get too much in depth into the mechanics but I just had to correct and criticize. =P

@ryancantpvp
@ryancantpvp 3 года назад
Amazing video, you explained the mechanics quite well without error, hopefully this video will bring more attention to parkour. Just a little tip, when you tried the slab to fence jump (1 block momentum 4.375 block jump), I saw that you did a prejump before running up to it and 45 strafing. This jump actually requires a thing called backwards momentum (where you go backwards in order to reduce or increase forward speed), specifically Rex backwards momentum. This jump requires a big chunk of parkour knowledge and a lot of practice, it took me nearly 4 months of investing myself into parkour for me to do the jump, so it’s harder than you think. Other than that great video! I knew I was subbed for a reason.

I appreciate you making a video on sweaty parkour, as it brings more exposure to the community. There are a few things that I would like to say though. Just nit-picking, really. 1. You can get consistent at 45 strafes, it just takes a lot of time and practice. 2. Some jumps require more precise 45 strafes, some only possible with 45.0 +/- .1 3. Grinding, which allows a 5 block jump with 1 block of a headhitter is possibly humanly, and a few people have done it. An easier variant would be a 1 block headhitter 4+1. 4. Backwards momentum is a huge part of parkour, and I wish you had gotten into that. Of course, this is just me being nit-picky lmao. 5. Neos are another huge part of parkour, which you also didn't cover (some only possible with elevation momentum). Great video overall, just a few things that I would've liked to be added xD

I appreciate veteran members of the Minecraft community like you who know the ins and outs of the game. I have been playing the game nearly since it was first released. Each of your videos (or documentary films, as I would call them) are truly masterpieces. I think that it is great that newer members of the Minecraft community have the ability to learn and understand the complexity of Minecraft as a game over the last 10 years. It’s good that you create these films as I sometimes wonder if people have forgotten the rich history of the game, and if players are missing out on all of this. For example, I host events on my channel where I would get people I friended from my Hypixel live streams, and I would invite them to my server to participate in classic minigames such the Hunger Games, or the Walls. Also, I remember you saying that you wanted to start a classic minigame server, and maybe an SMP. I have personally been looking with servers that have these classic minigames for a long time now, but I usually end up having to play something like “ender spleef” on the Hypixel Network rather than classic spleef. I think if you opened some kind of server themed around Minecraft’s history, I and others would have great interest in it. It would be nice to have something different than pay to win Skyblock (and factions) servers, as you said. Also, I would love to see some kind of classic let’s play from you. Anyways, I wish you good luck on your future on RU-vid.

Really cool video! Glad to see some of these more niche parkour techniques getting some exposure. There is something you missed, however. In the video you were using to demonstrate 45 strafing, the person doing the jump was also utilizing a technique called backwards momentum, which is a technique that lets you get momentum in areas without enough room to do it traditionally. That's probably one of the reasons you were unable to recreate the jump (along with it being very precise, of course). In spite of that, I enjoyed this video a lot.

4:26 for any one wanting a deeper explanation, diagonal distance is a further distance than if you were to move on a cardinal direction because as most know the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle is equal to the square of the two other sides, in the case of minecraft 1m ² +1m ² = √ 2 which is a further distance so by looking diagonally at 45 ° and moving up and to the side in the opposite direction the game calculates the extra speed as if you where moving diagonal why’ll your not. It’s worth mentioning that √ 2 is a surf so the number is truncated for calculation sakes.

@Sam-vn1yl

very very late, but this is a completely false explanation of 45 strafes, it looks like you just came up with some random reason why 45 strafing gains speed.
@wikipedia2562
@wikipedia2562 Год назад
@@Sam-vn1yl your right , having made this a year ago I should have mentioned how it was more of theory trying to explain the reasoning for the engines treatment of strafing. Having actually looked a the source code, like I should have done originally, strafing acceleration Just scales more than sprinting normally no reason behind it.

Some criticisms (more like nitpicks): 1:08 The actual jump height is about 1.25 1:16 In 1.9, the jump height was increased from about 1.249 to 1.252, creating a seventh tier (allowing you to jump up 1.25 areas like from an enchant to a block 1 level above) 4:38 s2f is actually relatively imprecise and you can turn very late (up to 6 ticks I believe) 4:56 You can't use whatever weird pessi/fmm you were using in the video to do s2f, and I really hope you weren't trying to. You need to use 1 tick rex bwmm, which im_random12 has a good video tutorial on. 8:15 I dunno what you meant to imply when saying "almost impossible", but quite a few people have done 1bm hh 5b Overall, well made video, just some things I wanted to point out.

1:18 yes it did. During the 1.9 update I believe (I know it was after 1.8) they increased it so that you can jump from a enchanting table to a bookshelf. Edit: you mentioned it later in your video. You contradicted yourself in your own video.
