I had to laugh. Customers choosing to hold workers hostage at closing instead of coming back the next day. Happens every day. Luckily, I get paid for every minute here in Florida.

It sucks even more when a 60 year old lady asks why there is one price label and 2 items and some kid has put neatly a fricking can of hair dye beside the matte paste on the end of aisle display and then the price tag on the product is faded so you cant see if the label is for hair dye or for the matte paste is meant to be there or the other way around and YOUR 15 AND ITS YOUR FIRST FRICKING DAY.

ANDY!!! You speak my language my friend. Whilst full time at uni, last December I picked up two supermarket jobs (both casual). A nightfill job and a position in a bakery within a supermarket. And let me tell you, I legit agreed to every single dam thing you said. I finished 90 minutes later than usual at my nightfill job yesterday, finished at 11pm when today I started uni at 5am!!! 5 CUSTOMERS walk in 5 minutes before closing pushing back our faceup time and stock time. Not going to get too technical with it, but I know for a fact that I won't be working these jobs for long. Although, since joining both jobs, I have gained alot of life experience as well as a few friendships.

Everything you said was spot on, with the exemption of eating out the back. Anything you take off the shop floor/warehouse that is not paid for, regardless of it being damaged or not, is considered theft. So, we don't lol.

I've been working in a supermarket for very long now, I can't tell you how many times I've found a Deli order in a fridge while walking past, if you're going to make a Deli worker weigh, pack and hand an item to you, at least hand it back if you don't want it or it's too expensive. Throwing it in a fridge isn't very nice.

I work at a supermarket and I absolutely love it! I’m on produce and learning the rest of the store. We have the best team and we manage to get the job done and have a laugh at the same time. Seems like the experience working at supermarkets varies quite a lot, at least judging by this video and its comment section. As my first summer job I got real lucky and had the privilege to work at a supermarket real close to my house. It is really popular in my town. I am still working there even till this day while doing studies on the side. I work at the convenience food and cold meat section. The work is divided into two shifts in average (in busier times, such as christmas, it can be divided into three). There's the morning shift and then the evening shift. The morning shift is from 5 AM to 1 PM, 8 hours. The latter shift is usually from 10 AM to 6 PM, also 8 hours. The morning shift is done by two people and it is essentially unloading all the products on the shelves. The later shift is done by one person, where he/she checks the expiry dates of the products (and puts a cheaper price tag on the products that are getting old). I found it real funny to hear familiar words used in this video, we also "face" the shelves at our store, making sure the oldest products are at the front, minimizing waste. Another familiar thing I heard was the mention of people who had worked at the supermarket for over 20 years. My manager(?) for example has worked in this type of work for over 20 years (which has gotten her multiple raises). We have a system in our supermarket, where you get paid more the longer you work in there. I think it's also important to mention that I live in Finland, so things may seem quite different as compared to supermarkets in UK or the US. For example, we have quite a lot of days off (yet we get money from them). Also, when taking holiday breaks or being sick, we still get paid as we would if we worked. Our supermarket is only part of a franchise in other words, we have quite a lot of freedom to do things how we want as the store is owned by a local. I also have to say that even as a still somewhat new worker, I have surprisingly much input into our section and it's shelf arrangement and product selection. Then again, maybe I just got real lucky getting a job at this supermarket :) Feel free to ask if you have any questions regarding our store and its practices, I'd love to answer them!

If your new like me as well hardest part is knowing where such n such is located. Literally I'm on day 4 tommorow doing night fill and did day 3 by myself and screwed up my aisle simply by not knowing where things either went and nervous whatnot. Customers were asking me where this and that were and didn't know where it was etc.. or people will leave bread in the chiller aisle or something of that sorts. Felt exhausted afterwards feet were killing me like someone crushed them usually you get minimal training and expected just to know what to do after first couple "training shifts" and then your at it on your own can be daunting for some. Usually supermarkets pay somewhat decent to bare min wage it varies from person to person and store to store. Those were my hang ups not knowing where everything went the co workers are nice and friendly for most part however I think many leave and have high turnover they either hire students or people that really need a job something quick and easy cash definitely around Xmas time for sure. Supermarkets have high turnover in general.

@@MrAndyBradley Ah, the supermarket life! 🛒 A journey of six years, filled with challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned. You asked, "Still loving life?" Well, let me tell you, my friend, the answer is yes! 🎮🐺 Imagine, if you will, the supermarket aisles as pathways of an epic adventure in an ice world, where I, Kiba Snowpaw, a Furry male Ice Wolf 36+ years old, face quests and battles every day! 🐺❄ Comparison Just like in my favorite games, every customer interaction is a new level, each shelf organization is a puzzle to be solved, and handling the daily grind is no less thrilling than conquering bosses in intense gameplay. Working in the supermarket is not unlike the sprawling online battles I've waged as a RU-vid gamer and streamer. 🎥🕹 I've learned resilience and strategy, skills that serve me both in my supermarket duties and my gaming escapades. The synergy between my work and gaming passion has forged a path that's as adventurous and challenging as the landscapes I traverse in my games. Now, if I were to evaluate the intersection between my gaming life and my professional life, I'd note that both require dedication, quick thinking, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to ever-changing scenarios. The real-world supermarket mirrors the digital battlefields where I lead my wolf pack to victory. 🎖🐺 Through my six-year journey, I've seen technology evolve. Comparing gaming graphics from when I started working to now, it's a night-and-day difference. Just like how the supermarket industry has adopted more efficient systems and tools, so has the gaming industry pushed the boundaries. There's room for critique too - whether it's a poorly designed game level or inefficient supermarket layout, both spheres present their unique challenges. 📊📝 In the mystical ice world of gaming, where the bravest Ice Wolves venture, I, Kiba Snowpaw, stand tall. Balancing my duties in the supermarket and the virtual world is like balancing the eternal dance of ice and fire. My tale is one of growth, filled with action, drama, and the never-ending pursuit of excellence. 🐺❄🔥 Conclusion So yes, @MrAndyBradley, I'm still loving life! I've found excitement and fulfillment in unexpected places, and the adventure continues both at work and online. How about you? Ever felt like your everyday routine was part of a grander tale?
