WOW! Mind blown. I've played this in a few bands and, because it's relatively simple solo, I've just improvised it. But I did sit down initially and try to figure it out and I knew it couldn't be as difficult as I was making it. It's a CAPO!!!
SO worth the revision! Catching that counterpoint high voicing and running trill in the middle eight FINALLY settled my mind :-) Plus, moving the capo down to the 7th makes a lot more practical sense. Fans or a deep dive will tell that Pete started out playing banjo in a trad jazz band (all the rage in the UK at the time) before 'discovering' the Blues and inspiration by Dylan struck and he moved on to acoustic, then finally full-on electric, and I swear those roots never left his rhythmic style even informing his lead playing. In fact, the first time I heard the solo back in the day, I thought he was playing it on banjo but it was just electric enough to make me wonder. I think when you listen in that context you'll hear what I mean. Oh, and lethal tone on the SG - especially the intro!
Hey, just so you are aware...I did find a video on YT that shows Pete playing the solo sans capo. I am aware that it could be an edited video clip. Great job, thanks.
Fantastic! But I've got a question: the typical Pete' strumming starts going down or up? For example, in the busy riff, you start going down right? So, it'down-up-down-up-down?
