The Guru Ram Das mantra belongs to the category of ashtang mantras, consisting of eight parts. These mantras act as catalysts for kundalini energy, initiating you through your own effort and devotion.
The first part, "Guru Guru Wahe Guru," directs the mind towards the infinite, the source of knowledge and ecstasy.
The second part, "Guru Ram Das Guru," symbolizes the wisdom gained by being a servant of the infinite.
GURU = GUIDE ME FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT
WAHE GURU is an ancient mantra dating back to the time of Patanjali. WAHE is an expression of ecstasy in which you direct yourself towards the infinite. GU means DARKNESS and RU, LIGHT. So, you project yourself in ecstasy towards the infinite, surrendering in gratitude and reverence (Wahe), hoping to be led from DARKNESS (GU) to LIGHT (RU).
RAM DAS GURU = Guru Ram Das is the fourth of the ten Gurus in the Sikh tradition. His name means "Servant of God" and he is considered "The Guru of Miracles." His time on this Earth left valuable teachings on humility, compassion, and a attitude of service towards other human beings and the most vulnerable.
This mantra not only expands the mind towards the infinite but also provides practical guidance on a finite level.
