I enjoyed the conversation with Mr Ummstadt, regarding the changing Christian Market. I talked with author Mellyora Ashley about whether to classify her books under the genre as Christian. Her books are clean and wholesome historical and regency romantic adventures, and though her hero and heroin characters have high morals and a God fearing faith which guides their response to adverse situations, she chose not to use the Christian Romance category because her fiction novels are not preachy nor doctrinal in nature. Isn't a Christian Romance more related to stories with a spiritual meaning?
As a Christian I don’t limit myself to ‘Christian Only’ books. Having said that I had no idea that Christian books spanned across and included other genres as long as it’s been written by a person of the Christian faith, and includes Christian elements throughout. I found this conversation really interesting and provided much food for thought.
