I show how the senko can be fished for Bass in the Hydrilla, particularly in the summertime. The Texas rig is is one great setup and the wacky rig is another.

How much do I love this? An absolute LEGEND, just throwing senkos, chilling on his cooler, on top of a DIY plywood-decked jonboat. Schooling us all, and he doesn’t even need a sparkly boat or 27 rods or a bunch of “game changer” lures. He just knows where fish are and he throws a worm in their face.

Wow, truly the G.O.A.T. - worth a gazillion bucks, jon boat, homemade platform he built himself in another video, sitting on a cooler, with a simple hand trolling motor throwing the most basic fishing lure ever - and he's loving the crap out of it! Thank you, sir for decades of enjoyment with your TV shows and now these YT videos.. pure awesomeness!

Here in my home province in South Africa we have a LOT of grass and structure in our dams. Since watching you fishing senkos it has become favourite bait. There is SO MUCH grass that nearly all my fishing is weightless texas rigged soft plastic lures or spinnerbaits. I have tried jigs but struggles to master the technique, but as i am a teacher, i am willing to learn.

Mr Martin is not only a master Bass fisherman…… he has the “art of teaching” down to a science in every sense of the meaning. Just a tremendous human being. When you employ what he is teaching and experience the successful results, you begin to experience and understand the excitement he shows on every Bass he catches. Truly the Real Deal.

Roland, I started following your career back in 1981 when I had a little weekend trailer out in Clewiston just south of the old Jolly Roger Marina. I used to fish with Vern Crawford, Snooky Robinson, Sarge, Harry Richardson, bunch of the old-timers. I used a to come and hang out at your shop and just kind of noodle with the guys. I turn 74 this year and I’m still fishing 3 to 5 times a week. I live up on Lake Harris now where Hydrilla is the main deal. But I can also say watching this video like every other video I ever watched of yours I learned something. Good to see you out there still doing what you do. I used to work for a TV station in Miami and you and I sat down long before RU-vid or any of the other stuff existed, round 1984, and did a long interview on what the Roland Martin experience was all about and basically how to just catch bass on lake Okeechobee. It played in Miami market, not sure if you ever saw it. I just became a subscriber to your new site, new to me anyway, and I look forward to seeing more of your always interesting pieces. Your tips have helped me a lot with my worm fishing 👍. And I love buzz baiting too!!! Here in Kansas I've caught some big bass in hot conditions and hydrilla - never really made the connection why, as it's easy to head in for lunch and a nap when the mid-summer sun's directly overhead. Lidless eye, huh.... Ding! This is why you're still the original, and I think the best. Thanks for sharing your passion and a lifetime of experience with us. Come fishing with me anytime!

Ending the night with one of your videos or one of Scott's is a nightly routine. You guys are both great. I hope one day I can be as relaxed as you are. You catch a 10# and act like it's nothing. I live in Michigan so catching a 10# is insane. Maybe one day you can show me how it's done. Wishful thinking. JAM, I would like to tell you that three years ago I won a fishing tournament exactly as to what you just described, fishing in the grasses I found a hole in the grass through my Texas rig in and sat there for a while playing with my phone, after about five minutes,I got a bite caught a 18",through back in this hole again got another bite set hook and caught a 20" repeated to the same hole caught a 21" repeated again got another bit set hook again, I had another fish on but this fish thru the hook it felt like another 18"fish at least,so I ended up with 59" of to win the tournament, all large mouth bass.

I'd like to see you in the shallows or a tiny pond with a Polyethylene boat like Bass Pro Shops sells, or a Twin Troller, Pelican etc...) It's got seats, you & your cameraman can lug it around like it's nuthin'. Add a battery & your trolling motor (unless it's a Twin Troller, it comes with two), maybe a sonar. I'd like to see that. Eventually you could trick it out with a mini power pole and/or an anchor, skeg etc...….

Hey Roland, just subscribed last week's and am hooked. Super informative and getting huge tips. Chicago guy and was raised on you from my dad and am a huge frog/worm guy. Got a question... I see everyone using braid and a fluorocarbon leader lately with Texas rig. I typically use 20lb braid when wormin' and wonder if it's worth adding a leader? Especially at places with big bass like Toledo Bend ( I go in April on a guys trip every year). Thanks
