Some of the comments make me laugh. Yall really thought she didn’t know where Navarre is? Lol. Elizabeth was the queen of mind games. That is why she was a worthy opponent to Catherine.
Minnie Driver did a good job channelling Queen Elizabeth: both of them. It was the obvious barbed flattery and the portrayal of patient observation of the 'other' Queen made me think of the two monarchs who have borne that name. Clever piece of acting.
I hate how much fiction is currently in these shows. The real history was crazy enough. Why change it? Ie, Bridgerton, Cleopatra, Last Philippa Gregory show etc.
If you want a historical drama that is slightly accurate go watch those that were produced from their home countries. Spain has Isabel and Carlos Rey, Emperador, Austria and Germany has Maria Theresia and Russia has Ekaterina.
@redadmiralofvalyria867 My point is that they can make a perfectly entertaining movie based on wild facts that already exist. There is no need to make history into fiction...
This scene is utterly ridiculous. Elisabeth was righly cultivated, spoke several languages fluently, was good with math & new perfectly well were Navarre was. I do not understand what is the point in making a series or a film about history if history & historical figures will not be respected. The whole conversation between the two queens is an aberration.
Most of what is said when in politics is rarely what they mean. When you rule and are in a place of importance, you can never let yourself be known otherwise you give someone else the upper hand. Women especially back then had to fight this way because they were seen as weak and the lesser, even if they held power, and that power was strictly because a man had given it to them through marriage or inheritance, so they have to be especially protective about what they say and how they handle affairs.
You don’t understand subtlety and wordplay. She knew where Navarre is. She was just trying to embarrass the lady and remind her how small her country is compared to hers. These days, I don’t think people really pay attention to what they’re watching.
@@Aragem I am an adult. I can do subtlety. Problem is, they portrait a caricacture of Elisabeth and the new generations ( that don't read and get all the information from movies & such) will go on believing in such parodies.
This is historical fiction for people who hate history and are bored by good fiction 🙄🙄🙄 This is like another Bridgerton ', completely innacurate, misses the point and panders to young tik tok fans w wannabe viral moments
because its a tv show, and the culture in the UK is ethnically diverse, the UK wants to nationalize the country duh. thats why many black actors from the uK are getting so much work, because they are putting themselves in multiple shoes. Un like Americans that continue to put terrible stereotypes of black people.
@@Tati39463 The Brits you're thinking of are leftist twats. Real British do not believe Anne Boleyn was a black woman. Are you suggesting otherwise should be done in a period piece? What would you think of a period piece about the Windrush Affair in which all the actors were white, Asian or something in between?
@@LA_HA I live in America, they innovating in some states but not everywhere, there are many states that are heavily behind when it comes to art, many people know this
@@Tati39463 Untrue. Especially since the WFH culture has expanded because of the problems in many States with high levels of crime and high government interference. Like California, where I live, and New York where friends of mine Used to live. Businesses are fleeing those States and going to more business friendly ones, taking their highly educated and trained workforce with them. You're listening to people who are quoting old data and believe that Red States and the people in them are useless, poverty-stricken, uneducated, and bigoted. What you're not seeing (or admitting to) is how many creative, business, and tech/science people are going where they feel safe and welcome. As for the representation of black people in American media, you're not being honest. Black people are only 13% of the population and yet they're Everywhere in media. In fact, they're greatly Overrepresented. There are more black American actors who make 20+ million per picture than anywhere else in the world. Why do you think black actors from all over the world come To America to find work? Especially from the UK. I'm truly not trying to argue. But what you're saying isn't true. The profession information isn't true because it's changing faster than the studies measuring it, but it's catching up. The entertainment information is absolutely untrue and has been for many decades. But, if you believe what I'm saying is wrong, I'm very willing to read whatever proof you have
