So they were basically the forerunner to Larry Brown's title-contending Piston teams of the mid-2000s, interersting. I can see why they coveted the A-Train so much the first time around (chose to play for the ABA Kentucky Colonels instead). They might've been able to make it to the Finals in '74, '75, or even '76 had they been able to woo him over. Too bad they got him a bit too late for that particular squad, though.
The bulls was good in the 70s the 80s were bad the 90s were history like the 70s bulls had Gilmore Sloan love those teams were good but the 90s were better

Our early 70s Bulls were great on Defense. But, IMO Van Lear cost us the series against Rick Barry's Golden State Warriors, Van Lear couldn't get his shot off on offense - he would get caught up in the air and turn the ball over. Plus we didn't have any players who dunked. The one player who did was Clifford Ray and we traded him to Golden State. Still, yeah, I loved those mid 1970s Chi Bulls. Tom Borwinkle was a great rebounded and great passer. But at 7 ft tall, he didn't or couldn't dunk. What was with that? Chet Walker and Bob Love were class acts
great forwards Love and Walker with Howard Porter coming off the bench ( 1972 -1974 ) with Motta coaching, the Geezer didint get a real good look in the Bulls organization. But Porter could Play
70s basketball is one of the most underrated eras ever. The game of basketball while simple then, the physicality was insane. Creativity and innovations at the highest Plus everyteam was competitive and unpredictable. The most competitive decade in history at least for now.
