A modernised orchestral arrangement of The Shadow Theme originally composed by the great Jerry Goldsmith. This re-imaging of the theme is based on what might it sound like if Netflix decided reboot the character.
Can hear just hear the shadow laughing at the bad guys. Plus hearing one of the coolest lines "I'll be there... around every corner... in every empty room... as inevitable as your guilty conscience."
I love the "one liners"... "Oh, that knife"... "You are a barbarian... Thank you". As you said totally under rated. This would make a fantastic series, if they kept it the way Maxwell Grant wrote it. And here is a little trivia question: What is the Shadow's real name. It isn't "Lamont Cranston"...
@@captainsteroid2454 Yup. You need to read the books, but the story goes something like Cranston wandered around at the end of the war, and found a place where he was happy, so did not want to go back to the U.S. One other student where he was wanted to do what the Shadow does best, so Cranston gave him permission to take his place. I loved the fact in the books that they were mostly about his agents, and he snuck in when they were in deep trouble to assist them.
@@standupman6422 The Shadow doesn't like people knowing his real REAL idenity and he has done some pretty nasty stuff to some rather innocent people when they "got too close to the truth". Remember He is actually a pretty deranged psychopath with a really gruesome back-story who wasn't fully turned by the Toku before he died. Remember the night on the bridge when he rescued Dr. Roy Tam? Well, you were suppose to think that the Doctor got a little too good a look at The Shadow's face and therefore had to be eliminated -- but not that time. (The Shadow recruits his army of followers to help him chose which side he should fight on as he himself doesn't have a good understanding of right and wrong.) So the real REAL idenity of The Shadow is suppose to be known only to those who have actually read the novels. (You have to "read between the lines".) And once you know you're not suppose to tell --- it a secret to the inner few -- or else somebody formidable might be inclined to visit you in the night.
@@ChefMattReviews I wish I could star in it for you. I am a former acting & musical theater major. I am also a pro mma fighter, defensive tactics instructor, American ninja warrior coach.... There's more... Let me know if you're having casting tryouts P.s. even though I don't subscribe to gnosticism. I do have a baseline knowledge of jungian psychology, archetypes, and am well versed in "The Shadow"...
laithen jabouri Was just thinking that earlier. Not really sure who could hit it quite like Alec Baldwin though. Maybe John Hamm or Neil Patrick Harris. I feel like they have the swagger needed for Lamont Cranston.
@@ChefMattReviews hey man, I'd love to get in touch with you if you're doing casting calls. I'm a 5'10 dense bodied martial artist. My athleticism is unparalleled. Former acting/musical theater major. Active cage fighter, American ninja warrior coach & defensive tactics instructor. I am interested primarily in doing my own stunts & choreography, but my dream would be to play Lamont Cranston/ Kent Allard. I'm scottish/Irish & Cherokee. I look like a leaner Arnold Shwarzenegger or Jeff Bridges from "Against all Odds". Let me know!
Great job on the score! The movie started my love of the comics and audio plays. It's no secret that the Shadow led to the creation of Batman. If you really think about it, the Shadow was the first horror pulp super hero.
So bizarre, I was randomly talking to friends about this film just this morning and then I saw this pop up! What a wonderful and strange little film :D Baldwin would have made an amazing Bruce Wayne/Batman!
Ha ha ha ha! The Shadow knows... that this is an amazing cover! The weed of crime has nowhere to hide once the Shadow's on their trail. :D In all seriousness, loved this character, really enjoyed the 90's film, and the score was always one of my faves. You've done it brilliantly here.
Thanks for this awesome cover! I would sell my soul to get a proper Shadow movie. The first is captivating, but by no means stellar by today's standards. Imagine being the character that inspired Batman, being as forgotten as he is famous. Truly sad.
Jesus fucking lord this thing needs to be the theme if they made another adaptation. The original had the romantic adventurousness and sorrow to it, but you managed to make it even more chilling. Like the way you did it somehow managed to add a whole new layer of eerieness to it to the point it sounds like a horror theme, perfect for the character. Kickass job man.
I loved the Shadow and the music and cannot understand why the film did not make it at the box office. And RIP Jerry Goldsmith who brought us great music over and over.
It didn't make it because of the time period it was set in. The children couldn't suspend their disbelief, understand things like pneuotubes, or the subtle jokes like when Schrevnitz comes screaming down the street and tells the passengers to get out. To which they respond "Thank you".
@@georgesenda1952 Exactly. Which is why it didn't resonate with the movie audience of the 90's. But I remembered all of that stuff - the police in long coats, pneumotubes to move messages around buildings (but not as far as was shown in the movie) clubs like the Cobalt Club, and I still enjoy listening to the old radio shows.
It is a more nuanced version. That being said, the strength of Goldsmith's great score was its boldness. But this is in order for a tv show that couldn't equal the movie, and so must to a degree be its own shadow. I look forward to what you will do next, Bennie!
"Without the spur of retribution your crime becomes mundane, your evil intent an uncontrolled inconsideration gliding toward the salavic pool of insipid casual pastime--a sort of breathing puppet gesture with no effort of personal involvement--while you cry that you are owed a living by the World. The Crime of your crime becomes insult in addition to injury; the unasked question I take as mine to answer. As you fall through the night my laughter follows...I will laugh behind you for the ones you gracelessly pillaged of their belief in hope. Would you tell me now of your self-loathing, your bile, your illness of spirit and substance, of your inner betrayal, your inner affliction? As if I didn't *know* ? Would you tell me now, at long last, of your Repentance? In my laughter you will hear my final judgement: *Tell it to the Worms.* "
This is awesome! My name is Lukas and I am working on a Batman-project right now. It would be an honor to collaborate with you as the composer for the movie. The movie will be a very dark, gritty and mysterious murder story. Please let me know if you are interested. Kind regards Lukas from Light Picture Studios
