+Dalton C. Rocha Well I have to say I learned a few things about that time from your comment, and I do agree with you on the fact that the shah was weak, but I dont think thats the reason he gave up easily. Growing up in a shah supporting family I always heard that the shah was a family man, a good man, he didnt want to remain in power by any means necessary, like what Assad has been doing for the past few years. The shah was living a luxurious life like any other king, but he always considered himself as one of the people of Iran and nothing more, he wanted his relationship with his people to be close and warm. He had a weak spot and that was that he was an emotional, kind man.
Dalton C. Rocha only one rule out of both of these monarchy and theocracy could give a good future and I know which one it is but do you? you say the shah was weak and incompetent and so he left Iran . do you know what hardships he was facing with people foolishly striking for stupid reasons with people not working anymore and at the same time he had a deadly case on him. And if he lived In luxury, that's because he is supposed to. (king). its not as if he taxed the peasants to their necks. democracy is good only for some countries but a country like Iran SHOULD be ruled be a shah (king). since 5100 years ago, everything in and out Iran was made controlled, influenced and shaped by them . In Iran, only the young and some of the elderly are all with him and love him. He was by no means an incompetent and evil man. The changes he did, would have taken long time in any part of the world.
Dalton C. Rocha After almost 50 years you still don't know anything about the Shah. He was a brave, patriot and powerful king, he could stand against the whole world but his own people. The stupid people was fooled by the western propeganda medias and sercret services who wanted do anything to change the Shah with anyone, even extremist Muslims.
Shah was a Genius in Economy and politican Affairs! With him - the Pahlavi dynasty - the middle east could be quiet and peacefully. He was a Honestly and Justice King..! 68er Generation were wrong about him...
zende bad Azadi zende bad mashrooteh va bozorgmardane shahdi rahe mashrooteh az Sattar khan ta Mossadegh. Marg bar dictator az shah ta akhoond. ZENDEH BAD AZADI we're still fighting for what our great grandfathers fought for: Justice, Equality, Freedom/ Edalat, Mosavat, Azadi

@pat442389 .....yes it is so , last week i read an article from an iranian news agency that 35 % of iranians have developed psychiatric problems and are depressed...just as an example how everything has changed dramatically in iran, compare the visit of shah to america with the visit of todays president of iran to america , even hotels won't accept him as a guest in new york !!
The SHAH of Iran a great man a fantastic statesman a real patriot well educated but ungrateful unfaithful and vengeful nation.some Iranians.Shame on those Iranians who caused the BBC islamic riot in 1979.Judgement day is on it's way.

THE KING OF IRAN👑AND PRESIDENT J F KENNEDY IN IRANIAN LANGUAGE ,,SHAH,, MEANS KING. IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE YOU HAVE CALL KING. BECAUSE PEOPLE KNOW KING. BUT ONLY IRANIAN PEOPLE KNOW WORD OF SHAH.
@enimusomega are your iranian? and im american so im wondering do most iranians blame america? the CIA? the shah? ayotollah khomeni? or the west? and also do they really feel that their country is full of "broken souls, limbs necks and bad dreams?" im just curious and would love to kno from someone who truley lives or lived there. thanks
America was such a beautiful country with a beautiful warm free culture back in the days. it's not just words that shaah says there's a certain magic about america 'cause freedom used to shine in that society. you can literally feel how magical america was from 30's to 70's. until secret societies and the elite completely took over.
Shah was never bad, he was put into power by the US and Brittain after his father Reza Pahlavi was sent to exile in Russia. That's why he had to work in the intrest of US and Brittain for some years. Since 1970 Shah began to work for Iran's Intrests, raising the price of oil by 300 times for example. He was making Iran stronger than the west, and the west couldnt take the fact that Iran would be much stronger than them. So they took out the Shah.
Shah acted upon national interest which pissed the US off. See CIA report read by Mike Wallace accusing Shah of being an "uncertain ally" that is only with US when it is in Iran's interest. Well stupid CIA, THAT is called Foreign Policy
@enimusomega did you live during those times? because idk im only 20 years old so i wasnt there XD. what i have heard he killed thousands of demonstrators and savak was like a secret police that as soon as they had even the suspicious that you didn't like the government then they would fuck you up. so you think there was no way around the Islamic revolution?
Before: Shah of Iran..."let me extend my warm wishes for the happiness and prosperity of your great and beautiful country". Today: Achmadinejad..."death to the great satan!" (USA). I wonder what Jimmy Carter thinks about this.
If the Shah was a dictator than why not even (ONE)Iranian sought asylum around the world?but now 10 million Iranian have flied the country and sought asylum.During ruling of the Shah crimes were very very rare in Iran.Safe country.Women and men were equal.36 million Iranian used to live in Iran a large and super rich country under the sun.Freedom and democracy are for those who appreciate and know how to use it.Iran needs another King Reza the great.I never blame US UK or any other countries.I just blame some ungrateful and unfaithful Iranian people.
I AM VERY VERY SORRY. USA loss his best friend loyal and humble king, SHAH of Iran, worst part is that by English politicians advice and ask, USA join England, to collapse Iranian SHAH and replace it with Molla Khomeini, BBC was just advert against him, all the time this happened 39 years ago, SHAH was a good man and loyal and peaceful, for what!!! and why??? Not really a reason, After SHAH of Iran in middle east is chaos, and terrorism is all over the world, To be honest World is missing SHAH. "BOOK by Cooper name: THE FALL OF HEAVEN" Just read it. IRANIAN ppl are suffering for 39 years, ISLAMIC regime is forcing each and everyone with highest force, this dictator regime is killing all Iranian, and they are danger for the world, I am Iranian and I am so honest with all of you, ppl and I love America ,American ppl ,we are looking for peace, instead the Islamic regime is feeding other countries, Pelistin, Syria, Iraq and so on, WORLD PLEASE wake up. Iranian ppl are striking now, in these days, why you not just helping and get rid of this Terrorist regime, Son of SHAH is alive and we all miss them, SON OF SHAH must come back to Iran, please share PLEASE, I am begging you, THANKS ALL.Peace.
And how was the Shah an awful leader exactly? (Choose your words wisely if you dare to respond because based off your comment, your intelligence of Iran's situation is not so hot)
What is your source of information concerning Carter's involvement in the removal of the Shah? When was this so called pact signed? That is an extraordinary claim that requires extraordinary proof.
@enimusomega well he had a problem with appeasing those Islamic and executing people never gets you anywhere. he tried to modernize the country way to fast and that's why he failed. look at the present Iran with all the censors and sanctions the new generation is more and more western and they love it. if the shah just went a little slower and tried to hold elections on what the people really wanted we could have been the super power of the middle east. 1000rial was worth 15$ when he ruled.
He was a solid leader who had the best interests of his country in mind, not like the self destructive extremists that were lured by the Ayatolla Khomeini and his cult

4th largest army and an economy growing faster than the speed of sound, not to mention the respect the west and the powers of the time showed us. Yes, Iran would have been alot better with the shah.
@Chehrenama His greed and brutality lead to his downfall. Just like every dictator, certain people sat close to the silver platter and loved him for that.
Shah acted upon national interest which pissed the US off. See CIA report read by Mike Wallace accusing Shah of being an "uncertain ally" that is only with US when it is in Iran's interest. Well stupid CIA, THAT is called Foreign Policy
fayrouz2008, Shah & his father were king in in Iran well before 1953. Infact Mosadegh was their servant since early 1920's. No Priminister in Iran was ever elected as constitution of 1906 article 36 gave the Shah the right to appoint or fire them. No reigning King need to stage a coup unless a coup takes place. What happened in 1906 was a countercoup. Your Ajax crap does not fool me nor many Mirfetros Shamshiri Matini & Dr Maleki have written many books on this topic. Unless you believe Mullahs
no, the shah was great! He was no dictator. He set up educational possibilities for the poor Iranians, especially the farmers by deploying the military to build schools in poor regions. That's one use of the military that the US could learn something from.
He probably made some mistakes in two decades of rule but it was kind of a nightmare after he left, Iran was invaded by Saddam who thought Iran would easy pickens during the revolution. Hundreds of thousands young men killed in that war. You really think the Shah was ousted by Western powers and not his own folks?
