I've read the Sprawl trilogy at least 10 times. It's by far my favorite universe... so gritty, yucky and awe-inspiring. I love your love of it!

I love the sprawl trilogy. I had to re-read Neuromancer just so I wouldn't forget the story. At first Gibson is hard to read because of his vast use of vocabulary and heavy descriptions of the world he is creating. You would think it would get annoying but you can't help but create everything in your head while reading this strange technological future that feels like a lived in world. If you wanna good idea on what you are getting into, just remember that these books inspired the Matrix and Ghost in the shell.

I've loved SciFi stories since I was a kid. But, for me there is a sharp break - before Gibson and after Gibson. Count Zero changed everything for me because it was so different. You cannot imagine how happy I was to discover he'd written a previous novel - Neuromancer. Then I found Burning Chrome, waited for Mona Lisa Overdrive and Virtual Light. Then he collaborated with Bruce Sterling on The Difference Engine. Just incredible writing.

Imagination must be active - a collaboration between the author and the reader. It cannot be passive, or it ceases to be imagination, and becomes something quite different.

Thank you so much for giving Gibson’s prose the attention it deserves. I don’t know on which rereading of Neuromancer that I started to notice the passages in blank verse. I don’t know any better prose stylist working today.

After reading all of Richard K Morgan’s stuff, and really enjoying the way in which he turned the idea of the hero upside down in the Land Fit for Heroes trilogy, and the Blade Runneresque reality of the Takeski Kovacs’ novels, I was really looking for something new to read. It’s been around for a while, but Gibson’s Sprawl Trilogy was new to me, and exactly what I was looking for. The reality he creates is so immersive that one can see the electronic spaces that Case traverses when he jacks into cyberspace. It’s gritty, everything is shabby and disintegrating, yet it’s also vibrant and alive! I’ve read Neuromancer 4 times, and I’m working my way through all of his works. The reads are difficult, but so rewarding!

@@vcihiethea You are talking about Count Zero not Neuromancer. In Neuromancer the main character Case goes to Istanbul to recruit a guy called Riviera. In Count Zero, the main character Turner is attacked by a slamhound in India at the start of the book.` EDIT: I wrote this comment before I watched the video. Yeah OP quotes count zero in the video, I mean the quote even says India and then OP says Istanbul XD ... I think he might have been confused with Case going to Istanbul in Neuro

One of the greatest prose writers of all time? C'mon, let's not blow too much smoke. He has talent, but let's face it, like Asimov, kind of overrated.

@@DamienWalter Don't take every comment seriously mate. I 100% agree with you, Gibson has absurdly good prose. Almost all the hate that Gibson gets, in reviews etc seem to be by the same people who claim they have no idea what happened in the book or a few times I've heard people claim they didn't know when Case was in Cyberspace and not lol
