@pxsdnus7919 so the viper, f12, sls amg, e type, 550 maranello, 250 gto, and all such long bonnet cars are ugly in your opinion yeah, its dogshit take time
@@gonadodude he built it lmfao Shelby literally just took a shell of the cobra and put in his own engine trans rear end interior basically and everything else that's in it Ford just gave him a shell of the car and he built everything else damn how do you not know this
After competing in the 24 hours of Lemans in 1965, this car was used to set 23 speed records over 12 hours at the Bonneville Salt flats by my friend Craig Breedlove. After Bonneville, Shelby offered it to Craig for $3000. Craig declined. That was a lot of money then for a worn- out race car. Craig joked about this for years, as it is now worth somewhere around $30,000,000.
@@Android-vk8yh I have not seen any documentary, however I have seen a video of Craig Breedlove and Pete Brock, sitting in front of the car at the Philadelphia Museum. I have seen pictures of the car with salt plastered all over it. It was the summer of 65 when Craig and Art Arfons were battling for the World Land Speed Record. Craig’s Spirit of America Sonic 1 was being repaired at Wendover AFB, and Craig had to either keep active on the Salt or relinquish it to Arfons. That’s when Shelby stepped in and offered up the Cobra. The Spirit of America Sonic 1 eventually Set the World Land Speed Record at 600.601 mph.
Completely Awesome,, Always found this development story more interesting than the GT40, since this car is why, it even happened,, When Mecum auction sold One of these, The Ferrari it beat sold for 11mil or more, Mecum made a great Documentary about the Daytona Coupe, Amazing footage, testing with Yarn etc.. I keep searching for it,, Cheers from Orange County California 🇺🇸...
We arguably still do have incredible battles between manufacturers. But because they aren’t 50 year old stories they aren’t legendary, and because most manufacturer battles have already taken place the rest are just repeats and will never be as good of a story when compared to the originals.
Note* The little spoiler on the back was an afterthought. It was not for downforce in the corners. It was that the backend would lift under deceleration at high speeds. Strangely, the original Audi TT suffered from the same issue, and they added a similar little spoiler.
And it doesn't generate downforce, it reduces body lift. Which sounds like it has the same effect, but spoilers also reduce drag whereas wings increase it.
@@eatsmylifeYT why? The car can be seen in the hangar workshop multiple times but I think it wasn't talked about. So did I get anything wrong? Were you net talking about the car itself but about the fact that the Daytona managed to beat Ferrari as well, but in a different class?
@@eatsmylifeYT probably you should give enough context to not get misunderstood. What was the point you were trying to make here if not one of the two I mentioned?
I knew Dick Smith. While doing work for him, he was showing off his cobra and asked me if I wanted if I wanted to take it for a drive. That thing was such a gem, I didn't even want to sit in it. These cars are just absolutely raw. I can't imagine one for a DD.
I remember when you were at 10k,and I always commented on your videos but I got caught up with stuff and yeah but I use TikTok more now and I just followed you, your almost to 200k
May have never heard of it? The Daytona coupe is my dream car. There is nothing better. GT40 comes close but not quite. I have new respect for Spector daily driving a race car.
Shwan from auto topia LA ft one an a women owns it . That second I've heard ov it . An he got to drive it . Check it out . Also what a fantastic 👏 vision by Carol Shelby RIP in peace.
Wow 🤩 ❤❤❤❤I’ve always idolized this Shelby Daytona coupe , such a gem of team American whoop ass , let’s face facts here Enzo Ferrari was a bit of an condescending asshole 🤔
I don't know what this guy is talking about Nobody's probably ever heard of it Just about everybody has heard of this car. Also Shelby america will make you a replica of this car..
it probably worth way more than 10 million.....a 64 GTO is 100 million,.....this car has to be worth 1/4 or 1/3rd that....possibly 30 , 40 million dollar car. it's unrestored......that make a huge diff. You can make a new Bugatti Aerolithe but it doesn't make it worth 50 million.
