I've got a couple of party games on my shelf of shame that I hope to get played soon as things open up more. I also got several new games for Christmas that I'm still working my way though learning. To your advice on playing a game with different people before deciding if you like it or not, I'd add that for many games it can be worth playing it with different player counts. Some games that are very strategic at 2 become much more chaotic at 5 and different players may prefer it one way or the other.
I just boxed a shelf of games to sell at my next yard sale. Games that I just don't want to play and some that I have never played for the same reason (life is short). Besides someone else might find them as gems and make someone else happy.
