@@patrickstarnes2355 clearly it not proportional between blacks and whites. And in this day and age - a 26 yo in good health should NOT die from giving birth.
That Doctor who said that "black women's uterus are different than a white womens....needs to be striped. That is malpractice. I'm appalled by that man's behaviour and he needs to psychologically evaluated as medical professional.
Because it is not possible they are? The average black person has smaller ears than the average white person. White people are more likely to be colour blind. Both of these are due to biology / genes. Why is it we can believe some characteristics are hereditary / biological. And may differ at a group level (could be men v women. Again e.g. colour blindness). But it's not acceptable to believe some other characterists are.
There is a hidden underlining tone in how this occurred. Not listening to a patients concerns about how they feel. Why wouldn't you? Are you sure that Africans are as different as Caucasians? There are Africans possibly colorblind as well. Deaf too. The possibilities of the genetic structure of human beings are endless with its potential and possibilities. They way you all are talking about it seems almost as if you were dog breeders. So let's make it sound less humane why don't we? It needs to be investigated thoroughly.
@@maebusgaming7913 Very happy to agree it should be investigated. But differences in outcomes don't de-facto prove racism. Is every single man taller than every single woman? No. Is it useful to know men are taller than women? Yes.
Brave man. He just said that he's 55 years old and just become aware this is an issue. Being as he is black, you would think he would have known sooner - or so I thought. But if it's not discussed, how would he know? How would anyone know? I suggest a new vocabulary. Telling a doctor that you are in pain or uncomfortable will get you nothing. That's what every woman tells him when she is in her first labor. So we need a new vocabulary. It's all obvious up to then, but I don't know what vocabulary will get them to think differently. They expect certain things from women in labor - so when it is your first labor - what can you say to make them treat you differently?
Hard question ..it's hard to get people to HEAR YOU...I'm not black and could never ever know what it is like to be black in this world..but my mother taught me a long time ago that we ALL walk this earth the same way ..regardless of color..religion..etc..I'm glad she taught me that ..and respect her more for that belief ..SPEAK THE TRUTH EVEN IF YOUR VOICE SHAKES...
@@amandakangai6541 what is then? Basing people on group identity instead of individual identity is going to cause a lot of serious problems and already is
The medical professionals don’t listen no matter what colour. They seem to go on what they have heard in the past from patients and think it is the same, without actually listening. to the person. This has bugged me for a long, long time. They need to spend a little bit of time actively listening to all patients
I am white, not from the UK, and they sent me home still having the suspicion of ectopic pregnancy. They just asked me to come back to the hospital after 4 days when it could have been too late. They told me to come back if the pain continues and I will get bleeding. Sadly, the doctors are just following a system that doesn't allow work the same for everybody and it's a shame that discrimination comes in all forms, shapes and colour.
no just that other risk factors affecting Black Brits more often than others are ignored, pain felt by Black Brits as opposed to White Brits is often ignored or not taken as seriously, and the medical community itself is racist in general
@@fb8799 the medical community isn’t racist. Doctors in general don’t listen to many patients. I’m sure if BBC did a little deep diving they would find cases of white women going through this struggle as well. I don’t think this is a race problem, but more of a problem with how the system is set up to serve their patients.
I managed to stomach the whole show... it's essentially Harewood having scientists telling him all the actual reasons and him going 'but muh racism' in response.
FYi, third world reference is old language. Now referred to as 'developing' countries. But, tbh, I've been to mainland China, a supposedly developing country, however, in some respects it has better solutions than some supposedly first world or 'developed' countries. Failure to consider practicality in these types of classifications is trite, imo.
Ok I agree with the language stuff, the fact is the horrible situation descripted in this video happends no matter where. The real problem is the inecuality from some people to other. There's always other, actually we are the others for the others
@@javierverdullo6414 But, you must see the forrest from the trees. Sometimes, shallow judgments lack in contextual enrichment. It is not always as it always seems. Sometimes it is. It just depends on the narrative being invoked and for whose purpose.
This isn't a race issue. What they are speaking of people of all races experience. Id say its more of a class issue where the Drs won't listen to the "plebs". Drs seems to think they are above listening to their patients and what the Dr say goes. This comes from someone who was nearly killed at a young age by a Dr not listening to my mother about my symptoms and sending me home. That night i took a turn for the worse and thankfully my mum rushed me to the hospital. If she had listened to that Drs advice and just gave me Calpol I'd not be here today. Another Dr also didn't listen to her about 10 years ago and sent her home with Pneumonia. This time nearly killing her.
If you talk to a woman, people will say he's trying to love her. If you shake a woman's hand by greeting her, people will call it sexual harassment. The devil is a liar. We only need our knees to be on the ground by calling on God without ceasing, I mean people need a prayer without ceasing in order to live in this evil world.
God has nothing to do with it. If someone thinks you’re trying to love them by shaking their hand, then they are probably an irrational religious zealot. Religion is the cafe of all evil and the banner all men use to put people down and oppress woman.
Yes it is an issue that needs looking at but to label it as inequality paints a perspective that there is some racial issue going on! How can that be so clear-cut when you do not know why this is the case? Seriously - you do a diservice in these liberal labelling without substantiating any evidence to back that up. It's akin to saying "Shocking reality of health inequality against men as they die earlier than women and clearly must be some form of discrimination" See how that perspective works. But seriously - you are saying the NHS is racist and discriminates in this and yet offer ZERO evidence to back that up, sure there is clearly some health issue but to put that down to racism without any evidence is frankly worse than racism as it fuels and worse, diminish real instances of racism as you are conditioning people to dismiss it by liberals sprinkling it upon everything without any proof that is the case. If racism is the issue here then facts, cases against people - things like that to prove that is clearly the issue but to enable any difference to be put down to that when frankly in this instance, you try and fit things into some racial agenda - sorry but that's not right and.....more racist than you realise.
The NHS is made up of people, so if they have prejudiced views then of course there is an inequality. Did you not hear in the video, that a doctor claimed that black women are built differently to white women, which is not true at all - that is damaging and has unfortunately led to a death. If you don't believe that there is inequality when a black women is 5 times more likely to die in childbirth than white women, you need to research what inequality means. If you're so startled about that fact that this implies that the NHS is racist, put your energy into demanding that things change because it doesn't reflect the NHS in a good light at all.
@@amandakangai6541 I know. I don't know where you live but I was in the hospital for a broken leg and virtually all the people that looked after me were non-white (including me) That includes the doctors/surgeon and anaesthetist along with a slew of nurses. So for them to say the NHS is racist is just insanity.
@@Sean-tn5nv It's different everywhere in the UK. Plus, they said that there was an inequality within the NHS, which is evident by the statistics right? They didn't say the NHS is racist - I think people are just saying that in the comments to exaggerate and provoke a reaction to deter from the issue. Let's stick to the issue and not be distracted. Racism or not. There is an issue!!
