Reason why those Whirlpool dryers are the best on the market is they haven’t changed the design since 1966 and have continued to make improvements to them over the past 50 years or so. Only negative thing about those dryers is they have a tendency to accumulate lint at the bottom of the lint screen plenum along having issues with the thermal fuses.
I'm an appliance technician and I agree with everything this guy is saying. Go gor the old stuff with NO electronics. They do they same job and 1 million percent more dependable.

There are lots of very good tutorials out there! That being said, yes you should feel confident that you can follow the instructions safely before attempting to do any repairs on your own!
Pick up some junk ones on the side of the road. If it's already broke, or you don't have any money in it, then you don't have to worry about screwing things up. I pick them up to tear apart and scrap, but a lot of the times they're still in nice shape and easily fixable. It's not uncommon to get a working one that someone just upgraded.
Those top pull filter screens IMO are the best design. They cause the least amount of lint passage if put together right. In 2020, I found a $20 bill in a public apt laundry room dryer but you have me beat! Made my day. Cleaned about 60+ dryers that week (15 buildings). Most of the money is coins and dollars.
Just a heads up self repair people. If you're working on a dryer that needs access from the back, MAKE SURE it has the lint trap on the top like this one!! MOST dryers, you work on from the front! If your lint trap is inside of the door, work on from the front! You might have to go to the back to take the top off, but generally, that is all you work on from behind on those!
Been trying to buy a maytag drier for a few months now. Love my maytag washer. I am working on an amana dryer at the moment. The motor bearing is suspect
My dad always did this with our machines. If he couldn't repair it, he would always ask his step dad for confirmation before giving up. My step grandpa was an appliance sales/repair guy.
I was like, 'Wait, what's wrong with the 50?' Also Canadian. Southwestern Ontario. I like fixing my stuff. Except once had a front loading washer with a siezed bearing on the shaft. Got the bearing off to find the shaft damaged. I bought a top loading one.
I'm not a rich man by far, so I learned really quick that I gotta fix my own stuff, I've always fixed my washers and dryers and I reckon I'm not smart either or I'd a figured it out to start fixing and selling them
Dang your from Canada? Appliances are cheap over there! Over here in Chicago an appliance that is not working is sold for $100, people want to make too much money over here
The brand I’m working on here is all made by whirlpool. If they have this configuration you see with the “fat backs” and lint trap on top it’s all made by whirlpool whether it be a Maytag, Amana, inglis, kenmore, whirlpool, or other brands
Appliance tech myself and I always recommend less electronics the better. Just get something with knobs and keep it SIMPLE! Can’t tell you the issues I have with the Samsung super speed 3000 washer that drys your clothes as it washes them and folds them for you 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
👀 you're Canadian?! Great! Mind helping me with my samsung set? The washer is bad (tablets do nothing) and it sounds like the drier is tumbling ballbearings when we turn it on. We haven't used either in over a year due to this.
Out of curiosity what will happen if you were to push the start button on one of those drives of the cycle signal knob and Dionne position while the timer knobs in the off position? Will it do the cycle signal?
Hey Hubo, I’m near Toronto so they sell pretty fast. The absolutely lowest price I sell a dryer for is 250-300 dollars (Canadian) - my front loaders can go anywhere from 350-500 (Canadian)
I have this exact dryer is it and every load needs to be spun twice despite it being on high heat, other than that haven’t had any problems any idea what the problem could be ?
Hey real quick, my dryer is broken and I think it sounds like it threw a bearing. It still spins but it was jumping up quite a bit when it tried to spin. Would I still be able to fix that?
@@isaiah4478 I wouldn’t consider a new control board right away. If any board, it would most likely be the UI board (user interface) but this is a very common issue with LG dryers, and 99 percent of the time all you have to do is pull the knob off and spray it with some lubricant!
