Very interesting! The pricing is absolutely crazy. The fans are seriously getting screwed over. It's getting like this across the board too with all sports as well as concerts. There were tickets that went on sale this week for a band that is famous but certainly not mega popular anymore and they were as high as $132! Pass.
Corporations sell these championships games to regular joes with the price tag as “dreams”… a “once in a life time bucket list experience”. And regular Joes will pay for those, just like getting a dream vacation, car, houses, bags, etc. My father in law paid tons of money to watch the Chicago White Sox championship game back in 2005 with his sons. Sox haven’t won the World Series in 80 years. He’s a die hard fan. He lived thru depression, so very frugal and had a tough life as a son of 1st generation Irish immigrant. It was the most money he spent for a one night experience. Sox won the championship in Oct 2005. He died 3 months later, 87 years old. No money can put a price for that happiness! BUT, I think being physically at the game was just the icing on the cake. As a lifelong fan, he would just be as happy to watch it on TV as long as his team win and lives to see it. To be honest, I doubt he’ll spend that money if he’s still raising kids and has mortgage. With today’s generation though, it’s different. The lack of financial responsibility is powering up the big corporations’ greed. Just my opinion.
I agree! We fund the dreams of those corporation heads, not really our own! Thanks for your reply Grace! I'm glad he got the once in a lifetime experience as a life long fan....fewer of this will happen now with the ticket prices being so high!
If you are in the Bay Area, there’s watch parties going on around the city(SF). IMO, being around fellow fans is just as good. But what do I know, I’m a lifelong Lions fan.
All pro sports in the USA are expensive. Some people would sell their family members to go to a game like the Super Bowl if they thought they had a chance. I stopped watching pro sports over a decade ago because the pro sports machine doesn't care one bit about their fan base. The media also doesn't care about their viewers/listeners, either, as long as their advertisers pay the big bucks for airtime. Enjoy the game from the comfort of your own home, Michelle.
