The Shops at Rivercenter (located in downtown San Antonio TX) is connected to the world famous River Walk. This multi story mall boasts @ 100 retail shops and restaurants spanning @ 1 million square feet. Originally opened in 1988 this mall has since received a few modifications (over the years) with the more recent additions including Dave & Busters, H&M, Starbucks and Johnny Rockets, to name a few.
To me this property offers a very family friendly vibe with such attractions as: Lego Discovery Center & Store, a massive canopy / zipline system on the 2nd floor (overlooking the 1st floor) as well as a cool narrated boat tour of River Walk. It seemed to have a great mix of what felt like locals nicely blended with tourists as the Alamo is literally just a few minutes away.
I'd definitely suggest a visit to the Alamo (as the history is very eye opening) as well as a stop at the mall for anything you may have forgotten or a few souvenirs. Once inside the mall you'll see a number of your typical nationwide brands (i.e., Aeropostale, Sunglass Hut, Buckle, US Polo Association, etc) peppered amongst a few local cowboy / western themed stores.
The only downside I felt (in this mall) was located at two entrances as I was approached multiple times (during my short visit) by the Wyndham Vacation Resorts sales teams to view a 2 hour timeshare demonstration. It's been years since I've seen these types of sales kiosks / offices (set-up in a mall) as they definitely had the sales pitch vibe with each experience.
Otherwise, I highly recommend a visit to San Antonio to feel the history, see the amazing River Walk as well as The Shops at Rivercenter! Tag along as my next stop is (just up the highway) in the bustling city of Austin!
