Thats the thing about combat sports, no matter how hard you work, nothing is promised. Just have to keep going and hope for the best. Loved the insight at 15:13, the fact that you had one bad day doesnt say anything about your overall level as an bjj athlete, only that you had a bad day. Great mentality to have going forward. Loved the content as always.
Despite bjj and judo having very similar base, it looks so different to compare them (the judo world's started today and I know this is not world level bjj, but they look very different from same starting point). I can imagine that constant wrestling on the mat is very heavy.
Weightlifting Worlds in 2 months and 96kg is no longer an Olympic category. Nice of the organizers to do a mock BJJ event but some of us can see through the lines
Pretty good showing. I was impressed with daires guard. The foundation for a good guard game is being laid out. It's never easy for a big man to develop a bottom game so kudos. Top game would have benefited from more grip breaking and looking for crossfaces. @Fridge. Snapdowns and run arounds would have won you the match :) you're really good at getting the front head lock, now you need to score with it. Get the guy to turtle and work guillotines or Japanese neck ties. Your coach is doing a good job with y'all.

There’s no failure here lads. Not ‘winning’ doesn’t equate to a failure in my eyes. Failure would be to not turn up, to stay at home and remain in comfort, not having the mind to put yourself out there at a competition and putting it on RU-vid no less. You’ve gone to the competition and have gained a wealth of experience, you can look back and reflect of what you could have done better, what could you have done differently. Also taking the positives, what were the things you did well? You can take all this, apply it to your training, your next preparation and come back better. It was cool to watch your prep leading up to this comp and the comp itself. Nice one lads.
@@sikastrength Cool thanks for answering 👍, I didn’t realise weight classes were so narrow in BJJ, 91kg vs 97kg in a lot of other sports would be the same weight class
