The Silent Day 

There's nothing like waking up Sunday morning to a cup of coffee and watching a video on cleaning pig poo.

Billy is such a well mannered boar with some wide shoulder. I really hope he comes through for you.

It just occurred to me that pete may look at his everyday chores as simple and not very entertaining but after 4 yrs of watching its always seems like something exciting has happened or interesting every one of his chore videos. Thank you pete keep up the good work!

I simply love watching the two of you working together so compatibly to take care of all the livestock. Even in cold, rainy weather, everything on your farm seems neat, orderly and organized -- a product of many years of trial and error to where you have refined every aspect of the operation. The transformation of the cattle barn was a brilliant idea. Not having to move the large round bales long distances to another structure has to be more efficient. This was a very peaceful video to begin my Sunday morning.

That new barn is really making life easier.

Silent day was a success I could hear the other animals when you were elsewhere. Heard Billy when you were at the cow barn and the chicken when you were at the pig barn. Ezra knows to plop on Hillary if she sits down to get a scratch. 😂

After a full day of working with our animals, it was nice to sit back and watch someone else working with the animals. 'The Silent Day' was very enjoyable. THANK YOU!

It is so cool to se a farmers wife in your videos doing so much. I feel like wives of farmers are only portrayed as serving dinner or taking care of kids. Hillary, you are like a super hero and you rock!

Wow, the music from Georges Bizet's 1875 opera, "Carmen," playing in the background as you and Hilary get busy early on a winter morning cleaning out the pig-pens. The high and the low. As I write, the pigs are no longer with you, and I think you're going to miss them and their pleasant oink-y conversations. I will miss them, for sure. Sadly, that chapter had to close, but when this video was made, you still hadn't made the decision, hoping that Billy would do what was expected of him. They were cute, as pigs go.

As always, it's a delightful video! If only youtube offered smell-o-vision. It's always fun watching someone else clean up the poo. Those of us who know the smell of it, especially from pigs, we appreciate you a bit more!

Pete, it seems every winter you get a little down in the dumps, I hope everything is well with you and your family, trust me, I can’t wait for spring either.

I knew a commercial chicken farmer in Arkansas who had a big contract with Springdale Farms. The way his contract was worded the more eggs the more money he would make. One day one of his farmer friends was talking about having to put one of his Rooters down because the Rooster was sterile. My farmer friend asked the other chicken farmer if he could have the sterile rooster. The other farmer was very glad he could get rid of the rooster he just gave the sterile rooster to my farmer friend. My friend took the rooster back to his barn full of layers and the rooster would strut around like he was some type of super stud. My friends egg production increased by over 20% which made my friend a littler more money from then on.

I have 85 acres and would love to start a farm similar to yours... Too bad I'm living single and don't have a lovely, helpful wife like Hillary... Gotta have the support and backup. It's risking disaster without one...

We use Fahrenheit in the summer and Celsius in the winter. Works better for our climate. Great video as always. All the best 🇬🇧.

We found that a one sided cast iron bath tub works great as a watering trough, its heavy enough the cows cant push it around. We use one to feed grain to our bulls to because they break everything else we have tried to use as a bunk.

My wife asked if the Mr. Rogers of farming put out another video? So relaxing to watch. And im a rancher so that says something.😊

I've shoveled a lot of hog manure in my day on the farm, but that American Celsius thermometer gets the last laugh. ❤

I know why you leave the manure in the cattle pen for the composting warm bedding but it'll be so satisfying when you get to clean it all out

My favorite part of cleaning the coop is leaving the clump os sawdust intact & seeing how far the hens spread it out the next day. They usually do a pretty good job of it. 😏

I applaud farm women. They all work very hard. My Mom is the go to for setting tractor points. She can just eye up the gap. She is amazing. She's 78 now and still carries 5 gallon pails full of water to give to our 15 juvenile heifers.

Just a suggestion that helped our pigs was giving them a dose of Replamin Gel Plus once a week. We had a litter of piglets after that. They might be missing a mineral they need for reproduction.
