If she’s thinking about franchising I am totally down for that! I can see this service in black or underserved black communities around the country! Great story ❤
Well I haven’t straighten my hair since 2001, I think this is great for women who don’t use relaxers but still want straight hair. Even better that these ladies are African-American. I find that a lot of other people come to the African-American community to make money and then go elsewhere to spend it. This keeps black dollars in the community.
This seems like such a luxurious experience. I just found a salon near me that does a lot a work with textured hair (I like that term better than natural) and I am in and out of the chair on any given day. We need more professional environments that focus on the heath of the hair. Kudos for the dream and execution.
Yes! I love black women stylists that take care of our hair! They’re the only ones that know our struggle. If I ever visit Texas DEFINITELY making a visit to this shop.
Im super sorry thats the case i hope it changes to be better soon, thats also incredibly weird that theyd do that im ngl i do not see the reasoning behind it
If you’re still in Austin, you have to go out to the suburbs to get good Black stylists. Glam Beauty Bar out in Pflugerville has a few stylists who do natural hair.
wow! as a bi-racial woman with three mixed kids this would have been perfect for us. But we're in NC lol I've built this protocol before going in any salon based on the fact I've not had good experiences with hair stylists who knows how to work with bi-racial hair. This is truly inspiring to see and I really hope this idea blossoms throughout the world. Because myself & my kids would be the first to be in a location so quick.
$70 for a basic silk press? Please sign me up 😩 I love my hairstylist but I paid $95 for a silk press last time and I haven’t been to her in a year because she price gouges
A salon with multiple staff is able to distribute the workload differently than an independent stylist. Please stop shaming business owners for their prices. Just silently go somewhere else.
@@officialsyddinpretty Explain $100 to wash, deep condition, and cut my hair into a TWA using Tresemme products. Let's not even dive into a $50 consult to tell me my big chopped hair is still heat damaged when my 4C hair is inherently dry and to use water and grease. 😭 Some need to be shamed, but I won't name names.
@@quartd2542 It's a service. You can do it yourself if you don't like the price. Explain $300 a week in booth/studio rent. $500 in product restocking fees. Insurance/licensure fees. etc and you haven't even gotten to the expenses it takes to live a regular life. Go to the beauty school if you want cheap services.
I wonder what do the prices look like? Let me go to the website. Wow! $70 ❤ Then they offer add ons. Scalp massage $5 Deep conditioning with steam $20 Extensions $10 And other services at reasonable prices. I’m really impressed by Pressed Roots! I thought it would be a whole lot more money.❤
Congratulations 🎉🎉 this is the exact reason I open my salon in colleyville Texas & started my brand HIKEY YA GORGEOUS LLC SALON ™ Getting your hair done correctly can become like Russian roulette some times 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ 🪦
Love the .....in terms of franchising my concern is sometimes that same quality is hard to duplicate and/or sustain at different locations. In my 65 years of life I have only come across 3 stylist who were outstanding with each visit. But, they all eventually left the craft due to burnout. Never could find stylist as great as those 3.
Yes! Love this 💜 although, it won't convince me 100 percent until I see something done on 4C hair, in the natural state. I'm definitely one of the kinky girls who is paranoid about heat damage. Again, though, this is wonderful for black women 👏🏾
there is one of these near me and now I am convinced to go! I think Ill get my hair blown out and pressed just to see because no one has ever been able to get my hair straight for 2 weeks
That's what I do - I just walk into any salon on the street. And all I ever ask for is someone who knows how to use bloody electric clippers. Just the sides (I love my deathhawk), stay away from the top(!), don't shampoo my hair (I just conditioned it) and put the feckin comb away. Well, at the moment I am quite satisfied with my current hairdresser.
I would have loved if this could have been a good 30 minutes I love what they're offering. And I agree it should be more bars catered to natural hair 😇🥰👌🏼👀💯👀💎😉🍾☃️☃️❄️☃️🦄😍
I visited Pressed roots twice. I visited the Dallas and Plano looking for the right stylist for me. At the Plano location the stylist, didn’t fully dry my hair and flat ironed some of it wet. I had to ask her to dry it a little more before moving on. She was very attentive however, I didn’t want to go back to her. So I tried Dallas location. I simply asked for a wash and blow dry. Well here, I had to ask the lady to wet my hair for a longer period of time so it could get fully Saturated and to “really wash my scalp”. She also, burned my scalp with the blow dryer. I had not put any heat on my head since both of these experiences and after their services.. When I finally washed my hair I discovered I had heat damage!! I had already canceled my subscription but now. Im never going back! This salon does NOT train the stylist for all hair types. The stylist also have to stay within a time limit which makes them rush. They also use round brushes which adds to the damage. I took me 5 years to grow beautiful natural hair and in 2 visits they destroyed it. See my pictures in my review for their Dallas location. Don't do it Ladies!
A babyliss pro titanium iron. These get the hair straighter than ceramic so be careful of heat damage if you use at home as they are really meant to be professional grade straighteners.
It’s hard for me to trust any hair stylist anymore.. over these last couple years the blk hair game has been traumatic af. I’m at a point where I don’t wanna sit in nobody chair ever again lol
Maybe I’m missing something, but isn’t much of this just standard these days? They are framing these techniques like they are something new, or that black hair salons are a rarity. The environment is nice, but besides that the techniques have been being used for a while. Maybe I’m just spoiled being from MD, we have a lot of good options here.
You guys are killing me with this “silk press” business. It’s a blowout and flat iron-period! We’ve been doing this for years (at home)! Y’all would label anything to add more $ to a basic 1 2 service
@@glowwithmebri the cheap clients are always trying to accuse stylists of “price gouging”. I’m not sure why they don’t just continue doing their own hair at home and be quiet.
Truth..Dominicans been doing this for decades and all the black women that come to the salon I go to have long healthy hair...roller set...blow straight no more than $50 and that amt is based on length of your hair..I pay $35!
Nah! You lost me at 2 1/2 hours. 😂 No! I know it's an "experience". It looks safe, comforting and relaxing. You get a nice sisterhood vibe. I've never been that girl. I'm Supercuts, shampoo and condition, trim, leave-in conditioner = 20 or so minutes (let it curl naturally). So you again in 3 months. ✌ Deuces The women's hair looked Great 😍
