these are the best vids on the tube. Not only do I get a good demo on gear, but also get guitar lessons! ha...just wish I could use my right hand like Andy. Just so impressed with his style. tone is way better that way IMO
I just bought one Andy, your videos are my go to option for breaking down the details and nuances available in these pedals. I know I'll hear the musicality of these electronics when I click on PGS' channel
Yes. Silly comment about this pedal sounding "NOTHING" like a Dumble. VERY much in the Dumble ballpark actually. I've owned must about every "D" style pedal in the past two or three years and this one is definitely in the top one or two, maybe even the best so far. Designed by people that have played, owned, and serviced Peter Lerche's Dumble. A Dumble Peter has owned and played for almost 20 years I might add. Love the way this pedal goes way beyond the smooth Ford - Carlton tones that many pedals strive for, (most too dark for my tastes) and achieves a bright, clear, articulate, top end while still retaining the correct mids and bass. VERY well done. Nice demo by the way, especially the lower gain tones with the Tele. Very, very Dumble like in tone, vibe, response, and pick attack.
The designer of this pedal is genius with tube amps and a long range pro with the electronics way down from 70's. The pedal is the best of a kind that I know. Try it by yourself before judging by the you tube video.
Great job. I like the sound of the Simble and the Little Green Wonder. People who complain about creating a Dumble sound need to listen to more videos. So much depends on the amps setting and the guitar used. ..........I'd say that most pedals require a decent amp with good cleans and a nice break-up low gain.
I picked up a Simble on reverb about a week ago and it is fucking killer! Not that I have a whole lot of experience with different overdrives...but I’d say that 80% of the sweep range (various sounds you can dial in) sounds great, and less than 5% of its range sounds unpleasant. Even at with everything dimed, if you just roll your tone knob down to 8ish it sounds good. It just sounds “big”...I’m playing a 2000 les Paul classic into a bugera v22 and I am honestly surprised at how good it sounds together.
I bought the first vertex "Dumble box" it was nothing but a boost with a slight colouration, I bought a used Simble for £80.. brilliant Boost this this with the Vertex..... effing Brilliant
this is my first pedal in my "chain", I have two..., it took me some time to figure its magic, but its here to stay....those who play thru tube amps its a different thingy, I just found out that I can use this as not only as a clean boost but as an enhancer to my tone ( Yamaha Pacifica 112V neck pup, luv from Kimmo ::: : )
Be aware that Mad Professor has released the Twimble since this release. I'd be upset if I bought this pedal without at least considering the option of the pre-amp. Just sayin'...
I really dig this pedal I think its got a unique sound, the mids are so pronounced. I like the santana lick sounded great! I think one can get some Robben Ford tones out of this pedal. I am really tempted to add to my collection. Can you guys let Mike Hermans take this pedal for a spin to give us a different perspective?
with Yam Pac 112V neck pup and with Tomsline Dumbler its heavenly! ( played thru Fender Frontman 10G..with headphones Philips SHP2500, and with aslight touch of EQ and room reverb from a ZOOM G2, Ive avoided thids ped for its price, but for the neck pup of my yampacs its perfec!
heard its discontinued ( or just temporarily because of electronic components deficiency these days), so bought a fourth one, with Fender Engager more mids it becomes even more versatile cleanish strat pedal, and with brighter set other pedals its just heaven..., I didnt even want the Twimble cause I heard they changed sumthin n dont need the predriver, my experience has taught me that very different pedals can be a match! If you can get one get one luv, K : )
This pedal sounds great ! Very amp like with it's headroom and harmonic overtones . I also listened to the side by side Simble pedal then Dumble amp and I have to say they are really Close in sound . Before I heard this pedal I wanted to purchase the jhs double barrel but the Simble pedal appeals to me much more because it of it more amp like characteristics .
Andy's a super guitarist,, he has a very unique full left-hand finger picking approach. I also hardly use a pick except when playing open chords, and use my index and thumb of my right hand, just like Andy does. But,, it was brought out to me by a few good players that I should try to use a medium pick as often as possible, because the tone is definitely effected giving a cleaner brighter sound, a sharpness that fingers can not do! And listening to Andy's leads here, I am now convinced that I will start switching over to a pick,, because I can hear how Andy's notes are a slight bit muffled, or dampened,, when he plays, and there's no way to sharpen, or brighten up the tone,,,, excepting with a pick!!!!
Alright, can anyone tell me the name of the song/artist for the 2nd demo tune, starts around 2:30? Like that tone best of this demo... least-cliched tone in this vid, I think.
Based on how few people have played through actual Dumble amplifiers, this Dumble in a box craze kind of goes a little over my head. Don't get me wrong, this pedal sounds great, really nice overdrive tones. I just have to wonder if it was called 'Overdrive #4' and had no relation to the Dumble name would it be as popular or get overlooked entirely. Based on how few of us have used Dumbles any company could say that any of their overdrive pedals capture 'that Dumble sound'.
Hello, since it is the date, I send you the link of this video of a 5/4 arrangement of the song "Little Santa Claus" : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OluEgCzgeM8.html The electric guitar recording was done with in order : 1- Simble Overdrive Mad Professor 2- Blonde, Tech21 Character series 3- Corona Chorus from TC Electronic 4- DD-7 delay from BOSS All this directly into the sound card! Olivier Soubeyran : cello, bass, recording, mixing and editing Yann Viet : guitars and arrangement Mario Cimenti : percussions Very good Christmas party !
See he kept the "doyle coils" or whatever they were in his LP, hope they didn't bill him for them, heh. Course, I guess they couldnt' really sell them anyway after being installed/uninstalled.
Love the demo, love Andy, love PGS... But I fail to see how this pedal is any different from any other of the dozens of overdrives on the market. Just sounds like a dirt pedal.
Do search for Peter Lerche's videos. He has a video with an actual Dumble (he's one of the handful of people in Europe who actually have one) and a video with Simble. The chap has no affiliation with the company that sells these other than letting the guys at Triodipaja study his amplifier, and says Simble gets quite close indeed. I would trust the man, after all he does have a Dumble, and he bought his new. So he should know...
I've played a dumble, and if you dial these in just right, they do sound within the ballpark. I'd actually be willing to bet that if most people were blindfolded and they were dialed in exactly to sound like each other most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
