From S11E14 - "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily". Bart Simpson plays one of Rod and Todd Flanders' Christian video games. Brief excerpt uploaded under Fair Use. No copyright claim intended.
@@cheydinal5401 Time was, it was assumed that playing video games while not getting a go yourself was just the most terrible boring thing. Then youtube happened.
I remember reading a review of some horrible Christian FPS game where the review was basically, “hey remember this one throwaway joke from the Simpsons? THIS IS THAT GAME”
In an alternate universe, years later, Bart makes them discover 'DOOM'. I can't help but imagine the initial shock when Bart tells them they play as a green-armored guy who has to kill on sight and then the sigh of relief coming from Rod and Todd as soon as Bart tells them they're basically killing demons and giving Satan's forces a really hard time
@@Meela9088They warned former President Bush about him, but now they trust him? Maybe it’s because Lisa was their babysitter and we all know how that played out…
I honestly miss when everyone made a dinky little game on their site, some of em really did lines of coke and oh man was it epic. On that note, anyone remember the badass games pbs used to have? I checked their site and what they do have is complete dogshit, which saddens me a lot. I know it isn't he rose shades too since wild Kratts had a semi-open-world game that kicked ass!
There was also an NES game called Spiritual Warefare, which was basically a Zelda rip-off, in which you throw "fruit of the spirit" at non-believers & they'd kneel down & pray.
@@adrian_veidt Fox expected us to believe that there were no studios in Denver where Maggie Roswell could record her voice where the audio quality would be good enough that they could use the recordings on the air? Even the Denver Fox affiliate should have sufficed! They were just cheap, and if they could meet the salary demands of the five principal cast members, they could make it easier for her to record the voice. Eventually, they came to an agreement, but only after the damage had been done. And her character in *Midnight Madness* would have been the first to say so!
I kind of wish we got more Flanders kids moments like this. Todd seems more timid but Rod seems more assertive. It might help people remember which is which better if the differences in their personalities were shown more often.
@@KopperNeoman So not what I said. I was making a point through humor (lost on you, I suppose) about people forcing religion on others (as the game is having the player do). I have absolutely no problem with Christians; I am one myself. The ones who won't live and let live, on the other hand...
@@GenerationX1984Carlin was an Atheist who didnt like the idea of organized religions messing up things, lying and taking money from the poor, but he wasnt a militant Atheist who tried to push this fact in every conversation. Gervais is much closer to that idea 😂
I can't tell if the Baha'i guy being transformed into a white man when he's converted is some kind of commentary, or if it's just a reflection of how few sprites they had in 90's games.
To be honest I’ve been told “we are playing as a team” i actually got happy and would warn my friends if it came to racing games if a racer was on his tale or right side etc and in shooters where I’ll see an enemy coming and let them know before hand! With that i felt part of it. Call it cheating pretty much haha
There is one like that. Super Noah’s Ark 3D. It’s an unofficial SNES game that’s basically a WAD of Doom. You use a slingshot to shoot sheep to make them go to sleep. Yes, really. The AVGN played it.
I’m Christian myself and I’m thoroughly disappointed with Christian media. Theirs some bangers, Prince of Egypt, Passion of the Christ things like that but over its pretty bland. Which is a shame because theirs some killer stories and things to work with. My go to example would be Lucifer’s rebellion. That’d be a crowd pleaser. A Christian message, amazing action, drama, badass set pieces. I’d play a game fighting the forces of Lucifer in Heaven. Hell I’d watch a movie about it
I kinda think it's wholesome of Bart to help distract Rod and Todd, even though only video games they have is the weird Christian variety that Bart wouldn't normally play. Poor kids 😢
Well actually, Bart didn't do this on his own. It's Marge who told him to comfort Rod and Todd, and then Bart whined, "Why does everything bad have to happen to me?" Meaning Marge technically deserves the credit here, not Bart.
"You are playing. We are a team!" Reminds me when my friend played some Mario game and I wanted too, she said I could play Yoshi and gave me the second controller. When Yoshi appeared, you didn't have to control him, I don't remember if Mario was riding him or was it a cutscene but I couldn't do anything.
Fun fact, Bible Blaster is actually a real game. It's called 3D Noah's Arc. It runs off the SNES Engine for Doom but it's been modded and reskinned to resembles the bible story of Noah. You play as Noah armed with a Slingshot and you use it to shoot grapes at animals who want to eat you. It's a really terrible game
legend goes that carmack and romero were so pissed off at the SNES port for wolfenstein 3d they slipped wisdom tree the drm codes for the SNES so they could make bootleg crtridges
They dont eat you, they spit at you, tiring you up. Also theres a kind-of remaster on Steam that it's actually pretty good, i even liked it more than Wolf 3D.
Dude, there are no shortage of Christian video games. I can think of several that use "conversion" as an way of bypassing killing enemies. One of them, "Catechumen" was even a first person shooter.
@@Samrules888and that's also just a rumour because I'm 99% sure they confirmed the company got the license for the engine through the usual means. Also the game runs on the Wolfenstein engine, not the Doom engine.
Back when I was in my early 20’s I befriended a girl who had an old Nintendo game very much like this from her childhood called Rapture Ready or something like that. We were both still Christians then (neither of us have been for years now), but we’d mostly moved on from the whole Christian subculture thing, so we both considered that game something ridiculous that we’d just play for a laugh.
I always like how bart imteracted with the flamders. Ned is an honest to god, pun intended, man who doesn't want to see the boy go the wrong way like he did in his youth, the wife supports him, and the kids both may dislike him at times but they can easily get along with common ground and pretty nuch is just like how it should he with kids that age being friends and neighbors
Well actually, Bart didn't do this on his own. It's Marge who told him to comfort Rod and Todd, and then Bart whined, "Why does everything bad have to happen to me?" Meaning Marge technically deserves the credit here, not Bart.
When Bart whined, "Why does everything bad always happens to me?" I wanted to slap him! I would've told him, "Those boys have just lost their mother! It won't hurt you to spend some time with them!"
That Bible stream was so powerful it not only converts people's religion, but even race to white and sex to male. Amazing what you can achieve with the power of *WHAT !?*
