I remember seeing this trailer in the cinema back in 2006. Everybody was pissing themselves laughing at it. Day one, Simpsons movie was released and I went after school to see it with my dad. Awesome movie!
The source video that was uploaded was in hd. When hd came out for youtube, previous videos had the option to restore the video quality back to its source definition (in this case, 1080p)
@@pennysanchez7656 yeah. It fell into the trap of Sponge Out of Water where they marketed the CG more than the 2D parts which made up the bulk of the movie.
I remember this. I could not believe it was a trailer for a movie about the Simpsons. Crazy as it might sound, i actually got into the Simpsons by watching the movie. Before that, I hadn't even given the show much thought. It was the movie that turned all that around for me. And I couldn't help but laugh when Moe said the bunny wasn't breathing. I felt bad about it, but I still laughed.
also what's interesting about this trailer is that it uses music from a season 17 episode. i'm guessing the actual score wasn't done yet so that was put in as placeholder
its been 10 years ago this week since the simpsons movie came out and i still remember the trailer and i didn't see it at the movies but i got it on dvd after it was release on dvd. Can't believe it 's gone really quick and i was only 8 years old at the time. My fav character was Lisa simpson but still my fav. Happy 10th year anniversary!!!
I've seen this trailer so many times at Blockbuster back in 2006 that I associate the movie with that store. I've never seen such a pushed marketing team for a movie since.
Well the movie had a huge marketing campaign like Burger King is selling toys of the movie and 7/11 change their stores to Kwik e mart. Not even the Bob’s Burgers movie have that crazy amount of marketing than the Simpsons movie!

That entire scene was done before in Sideshow Bob Roberts, and it only lasted about 8 seconds tops. Not 30 whole seconds of Homer being smashed into things. Why did they feel the need to not only reuse an old gag, but to lengthen it to annoying amounts. It's sad how much Groening turned into Seth McFarlane. Except for Futurama, but that's mostly David X. Cohen's baby.
It's because it's a movie. They can elongate things. I don't think this one was that problematic. They only did it once in Sideshow Bob Roberts, and that joke was made by Homer's look of relief as he held the wrecking ball close.
I think it's actually from 2007, but yeah it was uploaded in 1080p, it's just that youtube wouldn't play it in HD back then, videos used to look like crap. Years later youtube fixed that and videos uploaded in good quality were played how it was supposed to be.
@@CrashFan03 yeah, I saw it from the RU-vid app and it shows it only as "15y ago", it doesn't specify the exact date like in other platforms. Also because the movie was released in 2007 that's why I wasn't sure.
I recorded the DVD, so I could upload it, but I don't want to be suspended. And it would be in slightly lower quality. But better than just recording it with a video camera.
but homer inside of the crane is 2d, background is 2d. Texture on the crane is 2d, even computer games today apply 3d textures (normal mapping) today. Shadowing is merely a tiny step in the entire rendering pipeline, which can be approached many ways. In this case shadows were simply statics mapped on as a layer of texture. Shadowing does not define being 3D. 2.5D is not a ridiculous statement. it is a sound way to describe that scene.
***** Exactly, I think maybe they are jumping the shark just a little bit. Funny thing is they said the first movie was hard to make and that's why they didn't want to make another one anytime soon and I'm just here thinking "wait you guys can run a half hour show for 27 years but can't make another Simpsons movie?"
So the bad guys seen a sop (what means stop by homer) and then homer came in like a wrecking ball between a rock and a hard place and then he falls into a ground and he has no hurts or something... homer is unstoppable (awesome movie)
@4everledzep I love this trailer because at first it's got nothing related to the Simpsons and you think you're watching something completely different. Then the traditional animation kills the CGI :) Most of today's CGI is bull*hit. Give us more traditional 2D animation!
....the beginning of this trailer freaks me out every time I see it, not just because of what happens to the bunny, but also because it looks so unreal and so cute it's creepy.
