UPDATE: Limey Yoshi has messaged me that they've created a fix to the Chris Hatch's version of the Community Time Project mod, which fixes a known problem when an error occurs if the player closes the "time remaining" popup, as well as problems with time calculation (the original version didn't calculate the correct amount of time if the Sim was away for more than 72 hours). Resolve really loves deleting random pieces from other tracks when you use the delete key 💔 no idea why it works that way, but if that's the issue you can use backspace instead to delete

I am stunned by the sheer amount of information that has been lost to time. This was a known fix when the mod came out, it was the first fix suggested for literally every mod, and I'm pretty sure the original creator posted this as a fix for the bug. So thankyou for bringing this to a new generation of simmers who might not know how to fix problems like this.
I feel like that was a different error, though? That was where they would never come home from the community lot for 3 days or something. This one, they come home from the community lot as usual but then as soon as they are due to go to work the error gets triggered, even though they are already home. They only disappear off the lot if you realise they are supposed to be at work and send them walking.
I am probably in the minority of those who dislike the Community Time mod, because I often play with witches/warlocks, sending them off to the castles to grind out magic skills, and stock up on potions for days at a time, using the throne and spells to keep needs high. With the mod, most of my Sims would age up upon return. I also like to send Sims on dates or community lots prior to school/work to give extra boosts to their aspiration meters. Also, when working with this mod, having families and community lot businesses do not play well, even paying close attention to the time. Because nannies cannot track work schedules for owned businesses, you run the risk of 1) A nanny leaving (or glitching out), while you are stuck in limbo. 2) Social Services taking children away, because time just slipped/glitched away (perhaps the batbox might fix). 3) Being confined to unrealistic time schedules. I also like how not having this mod, allows for breaks with uni Sims (as all community lots on campus are already time synced), going to outside community lots. Plus, I do notice the mod messing up while vacationing, another aspect I use often. I do appreciate getting to know the fixes, so I do thank you! Personally, I will likely not use the mod, unless there is a way to toggle on and off, but knowing the beast of the batbox can fix the time remaining glitch is good to know, in case I do use the mod again. " Community Time Project has been updated some time ago by Chris Hatch and his version doesn't mess with universities nor vacations at all (and is generally much more stable). Just saying, it's perfectly understandable you may dislike this mod anyway :D
@@zirck67 Thank you for the reply. I am so grateful that the modding community is still active, as Sims 2 is my favorite in the mainline series. You are correct, that I still would be unfavorable toward the mod, for the other issues that I still find lacking to my personal taste. If the mod could be toggled on and off, then it might fit my needs better. However, I love playing witches/warlocks far too much, as well as date/mood boosting and running businesses outside the home, that I would likely have the mod toggled off more than having it toggled on, anyway. When I first made the switch to Sims 3, having time synced all over, as well as aging on everywhere all at once, it was quite daunting. I never got used to it, and used mods address my preferred rotational play. Sims 4 went back to a similar Sims 2 playstyle, only being time synced like Sims 2 Uni, and the worlds all progressed like Sims 3. Both Sims 3 and 4 (especially 4), I found myself missing what might have been the best moments and events. That is the main reason why I never even tried the Story Progression mod for Sims 2, and part of the reason why I had to stop using ACR (although more so, for its unrealistic autonomous actions than time syncing, that seem to forego wants and fears entirely, focusing on primary and secondary aspirations alone). Although I choose not to use certain mods, I am still grateful to modding communities for mods I use to enhance my playstyle, as well as those that fit playstyles of others. At the end of the day, there is not one best way to play the Sims, but there are best ways for the individual players❣ Happy simming ❣

I went years without having this glitch and I just so happened to watch this video a few days ago and thought "thats interesting, but I'm so lucky i've never had this problem!" fast forward a few days later and here I am... Had the error, but at least this video is the reason why I know how to fix it now!
I don't even use this mod but when you upload I will always watch! I do like the sound of this mod, but heard about the problems which made me not even want to try it. I've been playing so much Sims 2 lately!! Thank you very much for your videos on corruption, knowing what does and doesn't cause problems is super helpful! I had a super weird bug in game which deleted any and all newly created (born&CAS) sims added to households. Like literally just poof. Character files still there but the game couldn't recognize them, just poofed from the SDSC list. I thought it was normal hood corruption and tried restoring backups, only to discover that even in older backups of my hood or in other hoods the new sims would still poof from the households! (I don't remember doing anything that you'd think would cause game corruption such as interacting with bad NPCs) I fixed it by reinstalling the game, but that was SCARY! And weird. I still don't know what caused it but it's fixed now. My objects.package wasn't set to read-only, but it is now. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

@@yellowcatmonkey The Object Packages in your installation files. Choose the properties of the file. Click the read-only checkbox. Apply. OK. Depending on what form of the game you have and where you installed it to, it is probably in C:/Program Files (x86) From there you just go to each folder and click through TSData/Res/Objects. Some people only make the last EP read only, some people do all of them.
@@yellowcatmonkey you can set any objects.package in your install folder to read-only, I believe you only have to do that for your latest installed pack but I protected them all just in case. For the ultimate collection I believe the latest objects.package is in the Pets folder. :)
There is also a way to force error on a sim while they are off world. With testing cheats on shift click on the mailbox and under the other category there is an interaction called "obect - interaction" I think. that interaction fores an error on the selected sim without having to click the sim.
Oh, that carpool. You just reminded me of an awful issue i had on non-modded game. Played with family of five on a moderately sized lot and my sims were not able to come back from work. It wasn't even a bug, just a normal game logic: I was trying to build up relationship between one of my sims and maid, so i used the "stay for longer" interaction (whatever it's called) and her car stayed on the road. There was still enough room for some cars to park, but not enough for helicopter carpool to land. Fun times.
I never experienced that, but it does makes sense, because even if there are an excess of parked cars, any size auto can queue up, and when the queue is full, any vehicles in transit, can teleport. I suppose they did not account for helicopter, since it takes up more slots to land. While I dud not experience that, I did experience Sims not returning from work if they used their own transportation, when I did renovations moving or deleting parking/ helicopter spaces. In a vanilla game, you have to use cheats to do this, but certain mods allow you to do this without knowing the underlying consequences. 🤷♀️
omg, someone giving some context to the force error options was just what i needed! i used to treat it like a chance card the first few times i got it and freaked out when i deleted a sims once lmao
I would ALWAYS turn off testingcheats as soon as I used it for something, because I was afraid it's gonna break something. It's so nice to know it's a safe cheat. I love your videos, would love to see them more often,but I'm sure you have priorities of course, so it's ok! :)
This is a great informative video! A long time ago when I had this bug (by using the community lot parties mod in tandem with the community time mod by Chris Hatch), I actually fixed it in another way by going into SimPE, opening the affected sim, and trial and error deleting one of their hidden tokens that had no description whatsoever if I remember correctly, if the issue still persisted, I would go back to the backup and delete another token and so on until the carpool arrived again and that message didn't appear (as the token that introduced that glitch was deleted, I think because parties by default are only supposed to happen on livable lots, the community time mod treats the community lot as a residential lot, which creates all sorts of problems, but I'm not really sure), but this method is so much more efficient and faster as we don't have to go to SimPE anymore and I'm really thankful for that! After playing the sims three I couldn't go back to playing without story progression. So I got the story progression mod and a nice side effect of it is that it comes with the time mod that fixes the community lot issue (for me anyway)
Nice. Maybe I’ll give this mod a try again. I’ve been using LD’s TimeSync and I like it because it keeps time consistent across the hood and lets your sims at home go to work/school while you’re away on another lot.
Just wanted to add, if you ever click reset all with testing cheats on holding down esc cycles through them all really fast it usually only takes a minute or two to get through them all. That way you don't have to lose your save or spend forever clicking through them all :)

I'm a long time user of the Community Time Project and while I haven't experienced this specific problem myself, I really enjoyed this video anyway. However, I do often get some other problems with it where sometimes it just won't kick in, like when the home lot loads, they just come straight home instead of the delay happening, or sometimes a popup appears about a crappy GUID and resetting it just makes it keep appearing so I have to delete it and they come straight home, but in both cases since the game autosaves when the lot is first loaded, if I quit without saving and reload, then it usually works as intended with a delay for them arriving and no progress lost. I am also very familiar with a problem of carpools never arriving, I believe what caused this for me was Piqiwi's Holidays mod (or maybe that and some sort of conflict with it) because after a holiday that gives sims a day off work, work would never start up again so I'd never get a popup about the carpool coming and the carpool would never come, and the only workaround I found for that was forcing off-world errors with the bat box to kickstart work again. I tend to avoid the all and in-world options where possible because in my experience they can break certain options such as photobooth pics out on the lot by making the picture blue and the original picture never returning.
Oh, the issue with Sims just coming straight back home happens to me as well :) I have no idea what causes it, still haven't found a pattern, it seems to happen randomly. Never seen any bad popups though! I wasn't aware that the force error options breaks the photo booth picture! I just tested that in my neighborhood and for me the pic just straight up disappeared lol. I'll add that info to the pinned comment!

Loved the vid april! The way i always fixed this was by using testing cheats and somehow i could manage to bring the sim there and reset it witch worked fully but the problem is if i sent my sim with a car and the problem would happen. The car would no longer appear. Although after the timer finishes it comes back. But this lot debugger method is way better now

Hello! I have a problem related to this video…today I transferred back to Pleasantview my couple, since they had children during the term and it was not manageable anymore (1 child + triplets 😱). First problem is that my children were left behind but it seems I manage to move them back in with teleporter mod. So I did it with the first children and wanted to let her and dad grow older a little while transferring mom in the family bin. But when I search a new house via pc the square with errands pops up and even if I force error with batbox the save button is greyed out and I’m not able to save my game anymore…how can I do? Do you maybe have a solution for that too?
hmm I definitely had this issue with a non moved in non married sim, and I really wondered how he got the bug. I did the mailbox thing )(teleport here) (it spawns them invisible though so you still need the batbox to fix them). I am glad to see there is a more definite solution (the teleport solution does not fix them so I had to do it every day.) This sim lives in an apartment lot though Idk if that caused the bug or not
okay this is off topic of this video but ive come to think your the master of game bugs and idk where to ask you about one ive been having: my sim will get fired on a chance card and will come home with no job as expected but ill click on another sim to control them then go back to the sim that got fired and the sim will have that job back at level one even if they got fired at level 1, is that and issue with one of my mods or is that a game bug? i do have ultimate collection if that helps. also i love your kitties
I had this exact issue last month with Daniel Pleasant. I had him take Mary-Sue's car to work (it was her day off) and he came back fine, but Angela got stuck at work because I had her walk. I asked about it on MTS, but I figured out how to fix it myself using the Batbox.
I believe this bug appearing at some point of playing was one of the things that made me not stay with game for some time, and it’s nice to see it fixed
I saw Oli at Vans warped tour in 2013 in Florida in the u.s, and was part of a circle mosh pit that he yelled out "I want a f**king circle pit around this white tent" me and my buddy were standing directly next too. Some kid ended up having a seizure in the pit but everything turned out okay in the end. Sorry your picture of Oli triggered the memory. Love your videos April, they are very informative.

I got this bug twice but I think it's because the mod conflicts with Lazy Duchess' story progression. I had both when it happened, now that I alternate between the two I haven't got the bug again, but I won't jinx myself lmao

hello! thank u for the video as always, it was very informative (and you’re also very charming… definitely a good watch) i have a question, though. why wasn’t there a real time fix yet? what i mean by that is why it’s not possible to make a mod that makes the time in the sims 2 work similar to the time in sims 4. or is it possible? interestingly, the time works just fine (just like in sims 4) if u go on holiday in the sims 2 bon voyage, so if u go on some lot while ur on holiday then the time on ur home lot doesn’t feeeze. why does in still freeze when u play elsewhere? thank u again, i’m just really curious about this detail about the sims 2. makes me wonder what it is in the code that makes the game this way

Thanks for the tutorial. Last time I used the batbox to fix a bug just like this one (teen was stuck in school and all her need in the red, not using the community time project), after a few moments I realized the build and buy mode were grayed out and I couldn't click on it, just for this one family, I wonder if I did something wrong
I know maybe stupid question but when watching PleasantSims video she said that with the mod the Sims immediately come back when you "delete" the timer message/card even if the time hasn´t run out yet. Is the game still bugged when you just delete the timer?
I learnt to fix this issue on my own and it's basically the same as this but with extra steps. Basically i teleported the missing sim with the mailbox, used the lot debbuger to fix the sim being invisible, and then force error on off-world. Now i know i only needed to force error on all. I've also made the mistake of not turning testing cheats off, there's a little window of time between popups, so i would hit reset (or the escape key), and quickly open the cheat box, and quickly tap keys to turn testing cheats off, i gladly have that cheat aliased to be WAY shorter, i can't imagine typing the whole cheat that way
This is how I fix it too (on off-world is usually enough :) and you do eventually get through all of the millions of clicks. I am very stupid and often leave it on.) Sometimes it takes 2x resets on the sim, but then it seems to be OK. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether it lasts sustainably. I often have long gaps between play sessions, so I can never remember who I've fixed it on and who I haven't. Also, I'm extremely curious about what causes it in the first place, if you ever felt in need of a new subject to explore. The only possible pattern I've noticed is that it seems to happen with the Maxis pre-mades and some of my CAS sims that I made in an earlier EP and brought into a newer game version later on. I never experienced it with the original version. Sometimes you'd have a sim be stuck off-lot after they had been at a community lot, with the normal "sim will be back in 4 hours" or whatever replaced with an extra-long time. I thought this was caused by using the "Setday" cheat (or the change day option on the lotsynctimer, which is the same thing) - but some other people say that this is caused by the game counting hours which had been spent on university lots, where the CTP was not active. Anyway, that was simple to fix and force error on off-world would instantly bring the sim home. This error, triggered by the arrival of the sim's carpool, seems different - the old one affected them when they were already off-lot, whereas this one affects them when they are in-world, after they have arrived home normally with the correct time. It's triggered by the automatic "time for work/school" - not always a carpool, it happens even if they are being pushed to their own car. The old one does not affect carpools (they would arrive and leave again), whereas this one prevents them. The new one includes a picture of the carpool vehicle (not the sim, or whatever their method of travelling to the community lot was). I think the original mod didn't have pictures in the pop up, so it's hard to compare this.
By all the fixes ive seen, i remember sims 3 freezing every few minutes or seconds and I dont know if that could be fixed by reseting just everything like April did here.

Thanks for the video! I actually figured it out myself long before this video c: But I heard that community time project has another problem with calculating time your sim spend off lot. Honey bee sims actually says in one of her last videos that she got this problem because of uni. In university community time doesn't work but for some reason the mod stil "remembers" the time spend off lot and than adds it to time to "returning home at" when this sim goes to community lot next time when they are an adult. My romance sim went out once in uni and then when she is an adult I actually saw than she cameback somewhere later than she should the first time she went out as an adult. But it could be more obvious if she would spend much more time on community lots.
Me getting back into the Sims 2 after... More time than I'd like to admit, find your channel as a gold mine of deep explanation to how the game and mods work. Hope to keep seeing more dissection of this classic game

I really hope the batbox also fixes the bug i have of the schoolbus appearing and disappearing at the same time or not appearing at all and just giving me an error.
