Take me home
To the place where I'm from
Oh darling
You'll understand when you come with me
Take me there
Where the mountain meets the stream
And all the things we are
Are made for loving
Take me home
To the place where I'm from
Oh darling
You'll understand when you come with me
Take me home
Take me home
Take me home
To the place where I'm from
Oh, under the water
We will go
Take me there
Where the mountain children roam
Oh darling
You'll understand when you come home
Take me home
Take me home
Take me home
Take me home
Take me home
To the place where I'm from
Oh darling
You'll understand when you come with me

I love it when people realize that in high school Peter Parker wasn't a nice kid, but was a kid who thought he was too good for high school in the first place, a lot of people miss that, but it was vital to why he didn't stop the robber. The only people he cared for were his uncle and aunt, he thought that he was better than the rest of the world, and they would all pay for mistreating him. When he loses his uncle due to this resentment towards the world, he sees the error of his ways and decides to make a change, that his talents (both his brain and his spider-powers) should help others, not himself. This really humanizes him and makes him a better character, because so often people get put down, and due to that, they begin to resent the world. You did a great job with this vid, and tackling this point, it may be a nit-picky thing, but for me, it just elevates Spider-Man's origin story. I can't wait to see the next vid!

if i may, i dont think thats a proper parallel. Peter in that issue was upset with himself failing to stop Doc Ock, and he was jealous of Johnny for seemingly having more power than him. He was upset that he wasnt as strong as Johnny, not looking up to him. However what Johnny said in his speech helped him realize that it waasnt the right way to give u bc you lost once. This is why I actually love MCU Spider-man. He's a kid growing up, and in order to be what McGuire's spiderman always was, he has to learn to trust himself. He walks, talks and acts like his age, rather than an old soul trapped in a 20 year old's body. In a strange way, I find the former more... beautiful, in a manner of speaking. It's a real, true sense of innocence that neither of the two previous spider-men had, since theirs was tied to... well let's be honest, it was tied to a woman the most... shallow kind of motif you could do. Don't get me wrong, the other two actors did their job well, but I always got the sense I was watching a superhero movie. What I mean is, I was watching a movie about spiderman and his villain of the week. With the MCU, I'm watching Spiderman and his week.

Damn this made me emotional. To me after I've watched Homecoming and Far From Home many times I've noticed that the Peter we saw in Far From Home isn't the same one in Homecoming. I mean they're the same Peter Parker but what I'm trying to say is that his attitude and behaviour has changed. In Homecoming he's this teenager who geeks out at almost everyone and calls many things " Awesome " then in Far From Home he's matured up a bit more. He doesn't geek out much and while he used to like being Spiderman he doesn't anymore because if the stuff he went through in Infinity War and Endgame. In Far From Home he hangs up the suit and tries to leave it behind for a while. Eventually he realises that the responsibities aren't going to go away and starts to adapt to them. It seems like No Way Home may further this ( keeping his loved ones save, knowing whether it's good or bad for his loved ones to be apart of his life etc ). People say MCU Spiderman has no character but that's not what I've seen over his five appearences at the moment. Btw I know it may seem like I'm bias cuz I have a Tom Holland picture on my profile but pfps don't mean anything. I've seen people for example with superman and DC pfps but they've picked Marvel characters before in a fight or arguement over a DC character.

I'd like to add that Peter in Homecoming had loved being a hero and thought it was fun but by the time the sequel rolls around his opinion changes and he realises it's a serious job, that there are other heroes out there probably going through the same kind of pain and difficulty as him but they haven't given up and neither should he, he shouldn't walk away from his responsibilities and act like a coward. He knows there are those out there who love him, support him and be there for him. They've never given up on him so he shouldn't give up on them.

this really raises my appreciation for holland-peter. I really enjoyed him in his appearances so far, though I do agree with a lot of his detractors. I think the issue isn't with what he is, but more what he isn't- certain themes and stories that you can't exactly tell with this version of spidey due to his movies' tone and connections with the other MCU fixtures. I'd love to see heavier take on spidey that touches on the things glossed upon in the MCU verse stories, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy holland-spidey as what he is.

@@WyattoonsComics the problem with mcu pete is that his main inspiration we’ve seen so far is Tony, and the sole “hero” for most if not every iteration of Spider-Man has been Ben Parker. The reason why is although Peter was inspired by many superheroes, his sole motivation and to be a “friendly neighbourhood” Spider-Man was because of how he viewed ben. This notion also counteracts the point Lee wanted for Spider-Man, he wanted to make his regular life relateable to a lot of people. Having him get a multi-billion dollar suit, with tony’s glasses doesn’t really connect with anyone. And it’s disappointing that uncle ben is barely mentioned. Also the fact that Aunt may was fine with Peter risking his life and even encouraging it without any development shown as to why even though Peter is the only family May has left kind of screws with me, considering how hard he tried to keep his identity a secret. Also we don’t have any idea how peter developed a crush with MJ, making it seem like he just jumped to the next prettiest girl after Liz (pete’s love interest in the first movie) left. The problem was the fact that sony thought bringing in someone who didn’t have much knowledge about the character and has not much experience was a good idea. Seriously they’ve been doing this shit for years now.
@legoben98productions

@@L_Lawliet1907 main inspiration? mcu Peter was Spider-Man long before Tony blackmailed him to fight Steve in civil war, and after that he practically became a stark ‘intern’. Peter’s main inspiration for the crime fighting in early comics was his lesson on power and responsibility, the fantastic four, AND the avengers. Heck, in Stan Lee’s run uncle Ben was barely mentioned just 3 times in the 100 issue run. I noticed how subtle the references to him in the mcu were like, when in homecoming Peter tries to tell Ned why he doesn’t want to tell her because of ‘recent’ loss or in FFH when Peter uses Ben’s old suitcase for his school trip. I do agree that they should have shown us a scene for May coming to terms with Peter’s identity, but she’s a side character and it probably would’ve slowed the movie down or is meant for the audiences imagination. But ‘Browntable’ did a awesome video of how the situation would have happened, the writing and acting was wonderful. But with Peter’s crush development doesn’t need to be shown as, well high school crush doesn’t make sense half the time. Plus even in FFH Peter talks to Ned about the sudden crush he has for MJ just came out of nowhere. Plus Liz was just his date to homecoming and with what happened with her dad and after the whole snap situation she’s probably a adult in FFH, can’t say that it would be pretty weird if she was still with him. But I don’t think it’s the choice that’s the problem, but more of how the past interpretations have been so heavy on other aspects that the people have forgotten about the other aspects that the new one is focusing on.

I personally love all the stuff that make him feel like a “friendly neighbourhood” Spider-Man in a world of gods and super soldiers, I just think that the movie keeps switching between trying to ground him to a life of a teen and between Spider-Man fighting big villains and stopping explosions. Hopefully we get to see Peter sit down and discuss interests besides being a hero and as Spidey work on his quips more. I have always enjoyed the MCU spidey more than the other 2 versions, but i guess my only complaint is that uncle ben went from being peters primary motivation to being spider-man, which isn’t exactly comic accurate, to virtually not existing, which also isn’t comic accurate. Marvels been so averse to redoing the uncle ben dying trope we’ve seen twice already to the point where his name has only been mentioned by a spidey in an alternate universe, and i think that’s why people hate his relationship with tony, since it feels less like a version of his mentor relationship with human torch and more like replacing uncle ben’s role in peters life.

Leo, I'd like you to compare the Raimi films with the Lee/Romita issues of the original 100-issue Spidey run you so love. What you are showcasing here is the Lee/Ditko run, with Romita coming on shortly after Ditko left. After issue #50, the stories become far more of the familiar "how can the world dump more on Spidey and Peter?", which the Raimi movies depict brilliantly IMO. (Even my sister noticed the non-stop downer tone, and she's never read a comic book in her life.) I submit that the latter half of the Lee 100-issue run is Peter's journey into young adulthood, where you try to find/make a place for yourself in life, only for life to sometimes, if not often, run you over at 100 mph. We must've read two different Spider-Man No More stories because the one I read Peter's life improved after he quit until he remembered the reason why he became Spider-Man in the first place after he saved a guy who resembled his Uncle, not because he realized his family and friends didn't need him (which is not 100% true). Gwen had a date with Harry because Peter was oblivious to her advances earlier, he turned down Mary Jane's offer to hang out with her so he could spend time with his recovering Aunt (which he did) and we don't see Mary Jane for the remainder of that comic. Aunt May going to the movies with her friend to celebrate feeling better is a breaking point for Peter? Come on now. I don't get how you wrote off Peter quitting in Spider-Man 2 as him wanting to get laid as if we hadn't the spent half of that movie showing how being Spider-Man is ruining his life. There is no reason in FFH as to why Peter wants to quit being Spider-Man other than him wanting to be on vacation and to ask a girl out. You claim Peter is also stressed out over people wanting him to be the next Iron Man but yet we barely see him struggle with that and then they resolve it with him learning from Happy that he shouldn't try to be Iron Man (which is what he learned in Homecoming from Stark himself!). If you ask me, the only struggle Peter has in Far From Home is him struggling to give a fuck about anything other than his vacation plans. Them throwing the Iron Man stuff into this movie was so unnecessary and clumsy in and of itself and this movie should've focused on Peter being THE SPIDER-MAN and saving New York (which he STILL hasn't done).

@@Remix-pr4xd Fury yelled at Peter over the Drone Strike after Peter hypocritically showed concerned that Fury was putting his friends in danger. Fury also told Peter that Stark made him an Avenger and that Peter should step up. The only reason he's stressed over everything you mentioned is because it's getting in the way of his plans with Michelle, not because he doesn't feel like he's good enough, or it's too much for him to handle, or he has PTSD from blipping in Infinity War and losing Stark. Peter LITERALLY says in the movie that he didn't think he would have to save the world this summer. Him giving away the glasses to Mysterio was one of the worst parts of that movie and it didn't work. 1. Peter barely knows the guy before he gives him the glasses. 2. Peter's reason for giving him the glasses makes zero sense and just translates to him just wanting to go back on his vacation as fast as possible. 3. Where is he getting this idea that Mysterio would be a better hero than him? Do we see the public and the media preferring Mysterio over Spider-Man which causes Peter to second guess himself? No, mainly because Peter is in a disguise for the majority of the movie so people aren't even aware of Spider-Man's presence during these attacks besides the people who already know his secret identity. This would've worked alot better had this movie taken place in New York so Peter could be Spider-Man out in the open and Mysterio would play mind games and intentionally make Spider-Man look bad with his illusions in an attempt to make Peter second guess himself in front of the people of New York.

I love Tom Hollands Spidey. Its a fresh take on the character (which was highly needed) but still manages to keep the core elements of what makes Spiderman, Spiderman.

Thank you for this video. I feel that when there is a mainstream movie involving a character, even if the movie is good and treats the character well, it could still lead to the creation of misconceptions regarding the character. The Sam Raimi Spiderman Trilogy and Tobey Macquire's Spiderman are great, but there are lots, and I mean lots, of people seem to think that Tobey Macquire's Spiderman is the first Spiderman ever and act as if every Spiderman incarnation should be exactly like him, but that is objectively wrong (I'm wondering if some of the people who say those things have ever read a Spiderman comic book in their lives) and unfair to all incarnations of Spiderman. Ironically enough, if you judge them by comic book accuracy, Tom Holland's and Andrew Garfield's Spiderman portrayals are more comic book accurate than Tobey Macquire's portrayal. And before someone gets the wrong idea, no, "more accurate to the comic books" doesn't mean "better" and it shouldn't be the only argument as to why someone prefers one incarnation of a character over another. There are some aspects of Spidey's character that Tobey's Spiderman handled better than comic book Spiderman (such as Uncle Ben's death). The point that I'm trying to make is that just because one incarnation of the wall-crawler does something differently than our favourite favourite incarnation of the wall-crawler doesn't mean that it does it badly. Also, wanna know which is my favourite scene in the entire MCU? The scene where Peter breaks down and cries inside the plane next to Happy. When I saw that scene...I felt something. I felt Peter's pain. I related to him. Peter was a young boy who felt that he failed everyone, because of the unrealistically high standard that was set for himself by everyone else...and by himself. He felt enormous guilt for all the mistakes he made, for all the mistakes that led to the situation he is now. But Happy was there to reveal to him that his hero and mentor, Tony, wasn't flawless and perfect. He was flawed. Just like Peter. And that's OK. No one is perfect, but that didn't stop Tony from correcting his wrongs and doing the right thing and that didn't stop Peter from correcting his wrongs and doing the right thing either. I felt sympathy for Peter and respect for Happy from that scene and during the final battle I was rooting for Spiderman as much as possible and very few scenes in all superhero media had such an impact on me. Have you heard of One Marvellous Scene? Well, Happy talking to Peter on the plane is my One Marvellous Scene. Everyone, have a good day.

@Andrew Casali I never said that people who like Tobey's Spiderman and dislike Tom's Spiderman are toxic. I like both Tobey's and Tom's portrayals of Spiderman. Tobey's, Andrew's and Tom's portrayal of the wall-crawler are all special in their own right and everyone has the right to like them or dislike them. I was simply talking about an unfair stance some people (some, not everyone) hold against MCU Spiderman. I feel that (at least for the most part) there isn't a definitive version of any fictional character. A youtuber called Omni Viewer made a good video discussing that topic called "The myth of the Definitive Godzilla". Sam Raimi's Spiderman and MCU Spiderman are different incarnations of the wall-crawler that try different things with the character of Spiderman. If my comment didn't change your opinion about MCU Spiderman, then that's perfectly OK and I'm sure you have solid reasons to justify yourself. Well, those were my 2 cents in the debate. Have a good day.

You may have just changed my mind about those films, and I didn't think it could be done. I always loved Holland's performance, but I hate the jet-setting, private-school milieu, which IMHO is exactly the opposite of the hardscrabble life shown by Lee & Ditko. But you're dead right about Peter's rough edges, his initial callousness, his over-the-top cockiness. Maybe the character work is good enough to outweigh the unwonted luxury.

Overall I think MCU Spider-Man is fine. Not my favourite incarnation of the character, but not the worst thing either. I can respect what they’ve tried to do with him and the juggling act of Disney and Sony working together on all this. I don’t think he should be attacked. Not every incarnation of a character will hit for people. Just have to hope the next one works for them better since it’s Spider-Man and he’ll undoubtedly get rebooted again someday.

You just convinced me to buy those old mega books of the older Spider-Man stories. They’re always just sitting at the comic book shop💀 The only thing I don’t like about these movies is the lack of Harry Osborne. I’d really be interested in seeing how someone justifies that. Was Harry a later edition in the og Stan Lee run?
@Frogman1212
@Frogman1212 2 года назад
Harry does appear in the lee run. #31 I think, when Peter is already in college. So he wasn't a highschool friend. If by mega books you mean omnibuses rather than trade paperbacks I wouldn't recommend it. They're better for collecting than reading due to the cumbersome nature of the thing, holding it is a chore and there's that slant from the middle. Trades are the best choice in my opinion. Older prints look better because newer prints "upgrade" the quality to the point that the smoothness erases small touches in art, and the color comes off as flat. Not everyone agrees with me but there are probably comparison videos on youtube.

@@Frogman1212 those are some accurate cons to getting the omnibus but the same time they’re in a easy collection and not hard to organize or have to tracked down every issue, can get a good price for volume and it’s more of a textbook size thickness versus the magazine format. I used to check out omnibus books of golden and silver age Batman comics and recently got “The Batman Chronicles” vol. 1, but I honestly would say that it’s up to the person that they pick.
