Day Star exactly, and that's why the MCU fails to properly portray the character, they make him into this world saving hero when he is really supposed to be a nerdy, awkward kid who happened to get superpowers, he should then use those powers to aid his community, not be yet another big super hero, we already have too many of those and not enough traditional local neighborhood heros that Spiderman is supposed to be!
@@Luke-xi2pq Exactly. Spider Man 2 perfectly shows what makes Spider Man a real hero. He had a choice, and the 90s animated series made this clear too how much of a struggle it was to be both Peter and Spider Man. Peter chose in the end to be Spider Man not just because he felt it was his responsibility having great power but in the end, even if it ruined his life as Peter Parker, he makes the sacrifice to save other people. Even when he temporarily lost his powers, he couldn't just stand around watching innocent people get hurt. Not many people can do that.

That's just where the hype factor is. The tobey films helped with that, then all the animated series stuck with it too. Its just more interesting to see a kid doing all this stuff, most people who followed spiderman were kids themselves so it was a commonality thing. Im 23 now but growing up i always loved the kid Spider-Man theyve stuck with. Now I would like to see a more grown up one and ps4 definitely served that purpose. But theyre trying to keep with the age group that will always stick with the character. As we grow up, we fall out of older interests, i used to like star wars, now it's too much sci-fi for me. But a kid is always going to appeal to another kid being super cuz it helps to imagine themselves in that position better

I feel like the reason why Sam Raimi’s version of Spider-Man was more accurate was because of his love and extensive knowledge of comics. The other Spider-Man movies feel hollow and too much of something created in a corporate think tank if that makes sense. Tobey to me will always be the best film representation of Spider-Man.
Agreed, feeling a bit disrespected when they come to milk the fan for a yearly cash in, while feeding them cheap stories. Not sure greed makes for too many great authors
@@thebadwolf3088 AFAIK Venom isn't supposed to be in the 3rd film. I think Raimi wants to use the Lee/Ditko/Romita Sr. Characters. The classics. It was the executives or Avi Arad i think who wanted Venom in the movie and to Raimi's credit, he made it work.
it's been almost two decades since the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie came out in theatres and it still maintains relevance to this day. The Peter from into the Spiderverse was a direct reference to Sam Raimi's movies. FFH literally brought back J.K Simmons to play J.Jonah Jameson. @@deadpoolrockz6410 i missed the part where that's my problem. jokes aside, I'd prefer a plentiful of comedy along with saving the innocents. like in Spectacular Spiderman.
Umm everything Tobey says is memeable. His Spider-Man was much funnier than Andrew’s depressed movies. And it was much more tasteful than hot girl summer Aunt May and “Peter tingle”.
That's right, Tobey's spider-man is an actual MAN in his movies. I mean like an Adult with real life responsibilities like working a job, paying rent, taking care of his widowed aunt... all that adult stuff
Best thing about Sam Raimi version is he's always struggling in everything. His relationship, his job, his life choices . He's just like any other human being. When i first watched it as a kid you really appreciate the spectacle of action and superhero story, but as i grow up into my teen years and late 20s u really appreciate how can u compare ur self to him as an individual trying to be something but always questioning ur self with what u really want. To become greater or become just simple guy just trying to make a living.
Yea I loved that he’s not some super perfect guy like the other two. he can’t do most things in life without struggling like being on time to work while going to school and having a relationship that’s very relatable The other two get the girl with with ease get upgrades from other people and apparently have no problems with school
Yup basically this. This is the one of the reasons I like it so much, even though I never really noticed as a kid but did when I watched it when I was older. It's the struggle that makes him so memorable and believable. Tobey's version is an average guy who also happens to be a superhero at times.
Yeah the reason why Stan Lee made Peter Parker work is basically how relatable he is. He's not the best looking guy, or confident, or perfect. He's just a nerdy dude who happens to get powers but due to selfishly using them he indirectly causes his father figure to die and becomes a hero. But even then he still struggles with life. He doesnt get the girl right off the bat, he is distracted from school, he is always exhausted and distant from Aunt May etc. He can be anyone of us
Ultimate Spiderman comics reveal his face a lot of Times un-intentionally and intentionally, heck Norman osborn figured out Peter is Spiderman in the first issue(technically he was'nt spiderman yet)
@Storyteller Universe It's ripped but his mask is only really taken off at like the end of the films(at least with 2 and 3 it's just ripped in the first one) while Garfield and Holland take it off like all the time.
@Storyteller Universe im pretty sure he didint want his mask to be ripped out, and only Harry and Mary Jane ever knew, Tom literally gave out his name to however asked.
Also no one seems to get that Peter kept his promise to Norman before he died “don’t tell harry” and everyone seems often frustrated that he couldn’t just explain it to Harry in the other 2 movies. Shows his commitment to keeping a promise
@@amazingjay3957 when Osborne said "dont tell harry" I think he meant "dont tell him I'm a psychopathic murdering goblinman" not "I botched myself trying to kill spiderman." I doubt he'd really care about the latter.
It’s cause Harry already considers him the prime suspect after finding out he is spider man. Even if Peter told him he wouldn’t believe him cause he was already convinced. What Harry needed was for him to find out for himself. Which came in the form of his most loyal butler. Because why would HE need to lie?
1. He’s more accurate because he uses actual web shooters 2. I’m old enough to be your dad. And I would be if your mom had change for three bucks Edit: Replaced most with more. Most belongs to Andrew.
@@Joseph_Drew_III He has actual web shooters...so does Andrew Garfield. Everything else about him is unlike the comics. The MCU version is not really Spiderman, he's more like Iron Boy.
1. Glands don’t count. They undermine his intelligence. 2. The “Iron Boy” argument is both unoriginal and retarded. The Civil War movie clearly shows that he’s been saving the day for a while before Tony’s visit. 3. The only reason Tony’s part of it in the first place is so he has someone to lose without telling the Uncle Ben story for the third time in two decades. The Raimi version has a lot of good acting, and some good plots and portrayals. But in addition to the gland shit, the Raimi trilogy wasted Norman with movie 1, made him look like a Power Ranger, turned Eddie into a wimp who just whines at everything, and took away the twisted set of morals that made Venom so popular.
Antonio Morreale I'm with you on that (even though it might never come to be, but I still have hope for it.) As long as Sam Raimi directs it, I'm hyped for the fourth installment if it ever happens one day. His Spiderman films are my favorite.
@@izzatirfan1995 Amazing Spider-Man 2's suit was REALLY good. It was slick, shiny, not too bright and doesn't look like it's fused to Peter's skin like Homecoming's suit.
Raimi’s Peter Parker is the only one whose punches feel like they have weight, and who actually brings a presence to the screen as though he could believably kick some ass
@Cyberdemon Mike The obtuse lenses on the ASM2 costume have always bothered me. I also don't like the pinkish tint it has. I, too, like the costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 1, but I like cheesy stuff in general. They went pretty bonkers with it. Like, if I had to describe it, it's like gaming in 2007 personified through a Spidey costume. My favorite aspect would have to be the gloves; I dunno why, but the blue fingers with the red running along the knuckles just looks so cool to me. I LOVE the shot in the movie where he's running on that bridge and places his hand on a car's window.
What I really appreciate about Raimi's Spider-Man is how he was actually portrayed as a loner who wrestles with his inner self and has not that many people he can talk to. He was dedicated to keeping his secret away from people and he never intentionally gave it away to the people who could've been hurt by knowing who he really was. The scenes in SP1, where he sits alone in his room, crying after the graduation, because Uncle Ben wasn't there, and in SP2, where he returns home after having a rough day, to find out it's his birthday, and there are only tree people in the house, break my heart. And that's why I've not been found of the MCU's Spider-Man. His life was too comforting for my taste. The struggle wasn't really there. He had all the friends anyone can ask for. He had Tony Stark and his staff backing him up, half of his class, and even The Avengers. Everyone liked the guy. Even the girl we thought did not like him was actually secretly in love with him. Maguire's Parker did not have sugary life. He worked on a shit job, had shit bosses, he was failing in school, he lived in a shit apartment, and drove on an old motorcycle. That's a textbook definition of a personal struggle. He doesn't even have to fight supervillains to feel beaten down.
Anton A. I remember from Filmento who said why this works is in few simple words. “Beat the hell out of your protagonist” give that protagonist the most struggling life and watch how the audience empathize him.
I dont know if your tour like legitimately asking but like i think it’s obvious that they want to appeal to the younger audience (the audience that wouldnt of really read comics) so they can visualize themselves as the vigilante, and when a kid wants to go they tale the whole family more money in tickets, and when the kid really likes it they get the dvd
Sahil Bajaj in MCU not iron man even the trilogy got it right who ever think or said the trilogy sticks because tobey miguire play a older Spider-Man not a youth and hey at least he has character and personality and feels has responsibilities and consequences as well.

Not really, a noticed a lot of middle/old aged people don't really understand what a good movie is and they would positively react even to a bad scene - not because of what is shown, but the implication. Just look at all women enjoying the endless soap operas. It doesn't mean SM is bad, it's just not a good example to prove anything.

My biggest issue with MCU spider-man is that he's so eager to impress Iron Man. Spider-man was iconic because he was the first teenage super hero that wasn't a sidekick, and didn't have a mentor telling how and what to do. MCU just threw that whole aspect out
MCU had to portray a very different Spider-Man because that was the character's 3rd live action version. Plus, MCU version wasn't exactly a sidekick. Anyway, his relationship with Iron-Man was perfect for Spider-Man's future as the next (kinda) Iron-Man.
I wish more people would watch this video and understand that we like Tobey's spiderman not just because of nostalgia, but his character depth and details in the arc.
Based on some of the comments, I think some people didn't even get past the title. I guarantee you, if I'd said I hadn't watched the movies as a kid, they'd still say I like them because of nostalgia. It's like they're programmed to say that as a counter to anything positive said about the Raimi films.
@@comicfannicolas3645 Sad but true. Also, to me it seems Tom Holand's spiderman is liked just because its played by Tom, with no regards to the actual character he is playing. Major comparison point between Raimi and MCU spideys to me is the fact that Raimi's spiderman was so relatable to, the guy lived a lower-class life, struggled with rent and juggling the life of a son, best friend, boyfriend and a superhero. MCU spiderman lived in an almost luxurious state even before Ironman came into his life - which is one major point I hated, Tom's spidey is the most spoon-fed, handheld spiderman out of them all.
@@comicfannicolas3645 That's pretty much mainstream media fans in a nutshell. *Fun Fact:* The reason Spiderman talks so much is so he won't be putting all of his energy into letting his mind run. If Spiderman's absolutely silent while fighting you, that means he's putting 100% of his mind into taking you down.
There was that one scene in Spectacular Spider-Man where the Sinister Six got their asses handed to them in one night by a sleeping Parker (the Venom/Black Suit controlled him). He was silent all along and managed to trump them all.
That means my Tobey was the most serious one. But I don’t blame any of the 3 SMs making quips. If I would see a man with octopus arms or a freaking huge man lizard attacking me I would make as many quips as possible to don’t be nervous. I think I wouldn’t shut up if I was one of them😂

To this day, that fight scene in Spider-Man 2 with Peter and Doc Ock throwing hands on the side of a train going 200 mph? It's still the best fight to ever come from a Spider-Man movie.
The Amazing Spider-Man movies had some surprisingly solid fight scenes as well, they showed Spidey to be nimble and they were surprisingly easy to follow. They were almost like the PS4 game
@@TheDirtySouth404 I respect your opinion, but for me, that fight was specifically all about the effects and less about any real defining substances: the choreography for one was all over the place. Drones, jets, illusions, Michael Bay explosions? Spider-Man fights shine better when they're simple (as superior animation alone doesn't equal a superior fight) which is why I love that Doc Ock fight so much. It didn't rely on flashy visual effects and instead prioritized high-stakes choreography, alongside tension realistically grounded within that Peter's universe. The scene in Spiderman 3 when Peter whips that goblin grenade right back at Harry lives rent free in my brain. Tobey will always be my favorite Spiderman, bar none.
Tobey is the most accurate of the three adaptations, I agree. Garfield was too "dude bro" and Tom is just Spider-Boy who's desperate for attention from daddy Iron Man. Good video.
Based on Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's version is also very dudebro. It really turned me off from the character and was one of the reasons I disliked the movie so much
As someone who grew up with the actual comics instead of any of the movies, that’s MY (as well as other people fitting those criteria) call to make. “Spider-Man” is a story about growing up. All three of them acknowledge that by having Peter start out in high school. But you all gang up on Tom because you’re jacking off to nostalgia. Also, the reason Tom’s looks up to Iron Man is because they didn’t want to tell the Uncle Ben story for the third time in a row. An interesting but reasonable choice. But glands? They undercut Peter’s intelligence by not giving him a chance to design his own gear, while the Tom Holland iteration actually gets to prior to Civil War and during Far From Home.
@darth g0ldaR Ben contributes two things: a dead role model (which Tony now is), and “with great power comes great responsibility”, a morality Tom displayed right away in that scene in his room. “If you can do the things I can, but you don’t, and THEN the bad things happen, they happen because of you.” Also, the fundamental differences in the documents for the MCU’s Civil War make Peter and Tony much more agreeable.
They act like he cries in the movies for no reason. Uncle father figure dies, pretty big deal. Girlfriend love of your life breaks up with you to people with a heart, pretty big deal. Best friend dies, pretty big deal. Also the face he makes when stoping the train was also realistic, was he suppose to be stern and not show strain?

@@samuelmunoz1464 no the corny acting and how we’re supposed to feel bad for doc Ock at the end I’m not buying it.. it’s shitty writing and obviously the scream that Tobey does... what a dumpsterfire
@@Joseph_Drew_III Shut the fuck up. You seriously think Holland is a better Spiderman? Please. Spider-Man in his comics is hotheaded, confident, talkative, and at his worse moments becomes angry. As he matured his temper wore away in the later comics. Tom's Spiderman is always unsure of himself and his quips aren't confident ones, they come off as desperate. He doesn't ever show anger Garfield's Spiderman fits the comic one perfectly. His Peter Parker isn't accurate but we aren't talking about that. We are talking about when wearing the mask And another thing is actual prowess. Spiderman in the comics relies mainly on his speed and movement to defeat his enemies. Garfield is the quickest and most agile Spiderman. Another point to him
I remember when everyone thought Toby didn't fit the role. Now that we see how shit the other iterations are we can safely say toby was the best spider guy
It kinda doesn't make sense, like, it should come out from his ass. Marvel comics in the silver age tried to be more realistic than DC's and others, so, they used web shooters as a more realistic option. Also, his only "spidery" powers are the spider sense and super strenght, sticking to walls is because of the radiactivity of the spider. I also like them in storytelling wise 'cause, y'know, "everyone could be Spider-Man" and all, but not the webshooters. They were Peter's thing, any other wouldn't have webs or would have to make them in another way. Is to remind us that Peter is not a blank character for us to identify with, he also has his own traits and qualities besides the spider.
@@pedrorocha3674 that's a misconception. Webs don't come out of spiders' asses. I forgot what the area is called but it's not there ass. Also, why does it NEED to be completely accurate to that of a spider? For example, how come Peter does have 8 arms? Or hair all over? Its comic book fantasy, I don't see a problem with webs coming out of his wrists...
@Sudarshan ara Now there is, but it sucked, didn't feel like spider man at all and him being on the phone only made it even worse, the music is bad, the swinging is shallow and boring not thrilling at all, anyways it sucked.
@@farazhuq5568 Eh... that's an emotional scene... but we dont have scene where hes just swinging around and stops an actual petty crime that doesn't solve a big problem but just builds up his will to be a hero him actually using his stealth skills like spiderman normally does we never see him on a roof just hanging where you think "Woah... that's cool" just the simple things spiderman does that are so bad ass that no normal person can do...
They complain he didnt joke enough. Everybody remember in the amazing spider-man where his joking got people killed? He was joking with The Rhino when he was driving the semi-truck, and he didnt stop him, which distracted Rhino, and he crashed into multiple cars. So, please, spare me the complaints of "not enough joking".
@@comicfannicolas3645 I agree. Tobey had the maturity to only joke when necessary, and when he did, it was pretty funny. You don't need to start making jokes when people are falling off buildings; it really isn't needed.
I prefer quality over quantity with Spider-man’s quips. I prefer Toby’s “That’s a cute outfit, did you husband give it to you?” than Andrew’s “You can call me Spider-man, you can call me webhead, just don’t call me late to dinner” or Tom’s “Hey Big Bird!”
I think what made the difference between those is that Tobey's is a classic joke and directly provoking the target, while Andrew's was "quick, say something random and snarky" and Tom's was... is "big bird" even supposed to be a joke? I mean, I haven't watched non-Tobey stuff yet, but Tom's sounds like what passes as a joke in child shows.
@@maxwellsterling I imagine it's supposed to just be a reference to the Sesame Street character. I thought it was funny, personally, but it was in no way comparable to the clever quips from the Tobey movies.
I love Tobey's and Andrew's quips. While Tobey is my fav, I think Andrew is severely underrated and I love him too. Both their quips are awesome. Tom's were good in Civil War, after that he just got annoying.
@@MircowaveTimeMachine yea no worries... i pointed out on peter parkers portion becoz i think thats harder to be convincing (mask vs unmasked)... i prefer tobey's spiderman as well ... but it just that they(tobey/tom/andrew) all have a side to the spiderman in comics n cartoon(the 90s version that i know) in a way or another, more or less...
@@hyperion3145 Peter is oftem described as being good looking. He has numerous women wanting to get with him even back in high school. Where do yiu get this idea that he's generic looking?
@@campbellsoup93 in the very first comic of Spider-Man (his official debut back in the 60s) he was average looking but I guess they made him more attractive as time went on
I remember a while ago after Homecoming hit cinemas and one person said "it was a really good movie, but I hope in the next one we get more scenes of Peter Parker and his interactions with other characters and his personal struggles" He then got swarmed by replies like this: "It's called SPIDER-MAN Homecoming, not Peter Parker the movie" pissed me right off
That poor person, must be grating to be surrounded by Marvel fans who only want to watch MCU stuff and nothing else, like come on, where's the sense of contrast among the non MCU Marvel movies?
As far as I am concerned, fans of the MCU are not fans of the Comic Book Characters. 'Infinity War' is a massive joke to me. MCU Thanos is just horribly underwhelming. Now 'THE INFINITY GAUNTLET' is a different beast all together. That story arc is one of the best in Comic Book History. Thanos beats up Tony Stark in the movie? Okay, that's cute. Meanwhile Thanos is bitchslapping Galactus in the comic book. Massive power scale difference.
Also, Aunt May's actress was great for the role. She brought such sweetness and comfort on the scenes, that it makes you understand why Spider-Man wants the people he cares most about not know or be related to his crime fighting job.
