LUV this song! I first heard it on the legendary comp "20 of Another Kind" (UK 1979). The Skids were in good company: that LP also featured the Jam, Sham 69, the Cure, Stiff Little Fingers, Generation X (w/ Billy Idol), Stranglers, and the Heartbreakers (w/ Johhny Thunders)...

On the live Skids front, i definitely remember a couple of appearances on the OGWT. Though i think youve done one already! I think, An Incident in Algiers and/or, Hurry On Boys are available too, though i dont remember how good the performance is. Havent seen them for years.

This is the very first time that Stuart Adamson’s guitar - in the solo - sounded undeniably Scottish an element which of course he continued both in the Skids and Big Country. The lyrics make no sense - apart from the bit at the end about people dying where they were born and nobody had ever, or would ever make a song that sounds like this! Unique, brilliant and genius from beginning to end! In an era when music is now so bland and all sounds so similar this song reminds us that it doesn’t have to be that way. (The best live versions of The Skids are almost all on the live at Hammersmith Odeon album recorded by the BBC in 1980 which available on RU-vid.)

By the time the skids came along, i had become inebriated by shiny disco balls, Sylvester, and the pallis de dance , the pally to you and me , but I've got to admit i love the skids, they actually hail from a small toon , not 20 miles from where I've lived all my days, there are a few big names from the same wee toon Dunfermline, resillos, Nazareth, Barbara Dickson, and im sure some others , good tune i liked it 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 happy healthy peace ✌️

I like this song... really good stuff with everything that makes this band excellent... but I ADORE "THE SAINTS ARE COMING," "A WOMAN IN WINTER," "CIRCUS GAMES," a bit more... SKIDS really have the knack for producing brilliant sing along anthemic choruses. THANK YOU for returning to this band! You're the best! ...and best of luck with the tailend of the move! I hope everything goes as smooth as possible! Splendiffic ! Yes to more Skids . maybe "Masquerade " could be next on this Ace bands to do list ! I like the" Have to buy different Pots for the Oven " I am going to try that " Need another Motorbike for weekends ! Do you think my other half will go for that ? Cheers

It’s 04:20am and I’m wide awake watching the disintegration of the hated ruling Conservative party as the counting in our General Election continues overnight - in fact I have become the Gleemeister !! And seeing this great post punk track by these favoured sons of Dunfermline has increased that glee 😁… Please don’t worry about not making out the lyrics .. NO ONE CAN Richard Jobson was piss poor at singing and phrasing , but was a good front man . By the time this came out it was obvious that Stuart Adamson was the musical maestro driving The Skids with his unique geetar sound that continued into his time with Big Country . RIP Stuart a genuine geetar hero ✊ 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Out on yer arse the next morning and your furniture will follow later 😃.. it’s true 😆 !! New guy is literally driving through the front gate of Buckingham palace to see auld Charlie as the outgoing guy is leaving by a side exit the morning after the election . AND I’ll give him his due , Sunak didn’t cry and wave his arms around that the election was stolen , he apologised to his supporters and gave his opponent some really kind words and wished him well running the country that we are all a part of , classy ! Thank you so much. We really appreciate it. And it helped us buy new cookware for our new induction oven. It's a great oven, but what a thing! We had no pots or pans that would work on the surface.

@@hanierfamily I know what you mean, a friend of mine gave me an induction hob (hotplates) when my mine packed up last year so, I had to do exactly the same thing as you as I didn't have anything to use on it. I'm glad that the money came in useful, I wish that I could afford to have donated more but it's a tight month money-wise for me.
