Come and meet The Skunkerton family, they all look the same but there is one skunk who has always felt unique but she doesn't really know why and that skunk is Smellarella. She loves eating fruit and bugs and she can skunk spray just like her siblings. The day came when Smellarella's Mom had baked some fresh bread...she couldn't smell it even when it was right under her nose and nor could she smell cookies, grass, flowers or the pigpen. Sneaky Pete gives her a sneaky smell test of smelly cheese, sweaty socks, cotton eggs and Sneaky Pete's week old gym shorts. Feeling sad, her Mom took her too Doc Diggins...YES...he had the answer. Smellarella was simply born without an Olfactory bulb.

A beautiful book of acceptance, individuality and self love written in such a fun and engaging way around a wonderful family of skunks, all with great names. Smell is something that we take for granted, but it is a disorder that affects some people and for children this may be hard to understand. So what a fabulous story this is to learn from and with the most entertaining characters. The idea of a sneaky smell test is funny and creative and the smells chosen are all totally relatable and will produce many giggles for the reader. This is a book that is a sweet story as well as being educational, supportive and inclusive as it embraces differences. The illustrations are fantastic, characterful and endearing which supports the learning of empathy.
