Hello Eric, I admire you and your interest. Miss Annie MacLeod, Lady Wilson, very friend of Sir Harold Boulton, Gaelic speaker, collector of old tunes and traditions, in a trip through Skye listened the rowers singing a Gaelic song. She asked them and they said was an old song of rowers called ( translated to English) “The Cuckoo in the Grove”. Thanks to this kind of studious and collectors old tunes still are making happy people like you and me. The story of Flora McDonald and Bonnie Prince Charles was created by Lady Wilson and Sir Harold Boulton. At least this information I have found.

Thanks Pedro for further information about this tune! Those who have collected all these traditional tunes over the years have done a precious work on both sides of the Channel!

@@EricMaclewis Yes, we must to be thankful to them. In Spain, Carlos NUÑEZ is doing a great work with old and almost traditional bagpipe’s tunes. At present days I am trying to learn( as you know I have a very limited level and skill) an old Galician tune called DANZA DO ENTRELAZADO, de Allariz ( a village) that was recovered by Carlos Nuñez.
