I dont see anyone mention it but I love how Naga is just kinda chilling as she watches Lina do her thing. She just hangs back, hands on her hips watching the whole thing. "Yep Lina's gonna blow everything up again."
This is my favorite Dragon Slave ever done. It wasn't played for laughs, or to get back at someone for insulting Lina. She cast this Dragon Slave out of pure anger and hatred for Joyrock murdering all those innocent people. Too bad it didn't work (Joyrock gets cut at best, if I remember correctly), but the build up and execution was phenomenal.
Suddenly realizes Lina is summoning power from Shabranigdo, just in the nick of time to move his body into the astral plane 😂. Kinda wonder how this version of Joyrock would stack up against some of the monsters in the main anime like Saegram, Xellos, or Hellmaster Fibrizo.
I've always prefered this casting over the literal one. With a little tinkering this version of the ritual could be even awesome-er than the more correct version in the series... "Heed me Thou who is darker than Death Heed me Thou who is more red than Blood In the name of what is buried in the bottomless abyss of Time Eternal I Conjure (call on you) Thee - Master of Ultimate Darkness Have no pity on the fools who stand in my way. Infuse me with power - add your strength to mine To wipe them from the face of this World And deliver unto them the Ultimate Doom, of DRAGON SLAVE" for instance...
This is why I love Cynthia Martinez as Lina inverse. There’s something about that raw passionate gutter-roll rasp in her voice that just sets herself apart from Lisa Ortiz.
*Darkness beyond twilight Crimson beyond blood that flows! Buried in the stream of time Is where your power grows I pledge to conquer, all the foes Who stand Before this mighty gift bestowed to my unworthy hand. LET THE FOOLS WHO STAND BEFORE ME BE DESTROYED BY THE POWER YOU AND I POSSESS!!!"
Silversorcerer The incantation from the series. I liked this one (from the movie) slightly better, because of it's complete shift from the original words. Now if Lisa Ortiz ever recited them, that'd be fun to listen to.
@@DragonianDeity i think lisa ortiz was booked up or there was a thing that since ADV held the rights to the slayers movies and OVA they had to recast Lina, i prefer Ortiz's rendition of Lina as she really brings out the sass and the lovable attitude, while Cynthia martinez sounded like she was shouting and screeching her way through the performances, even in this scene she sounded like she had a major sore throat
I was introduced to Slayers early on in my anime collecting. I was already familiar with Lina's voice actress (Lisa Ortiz)(The Slayers the series) so I immediately hooked onto it. Software Sculptures (original production company) may not have the best animation, but their style of anime was what I grew up with, so it was nostalgic. ADV films made it into the clear, sharp series it is now, sobprops to them. But Slayers the MP is indeed one of my favorite anime movies. I have watched this so many times that, even almost a year not seeing it, I can recite almost word for word this movie. There are like 8 mini movies Slayers put out that are fun for a laugh, you should check out. Some, you can find on YT. Slayers: Gorgeous, Explosion Array, Premium, Great. The series' are great too.
this incantation is so wrong! here the true incantation. Lina Inverse: Darkness beyond twilight Crimson beyond blood that flows Buried in the stream of time Is where your power grows I pledge to conquer, all the foes Who stand Before this mighty gift bestowed to my unworthy hand. LET THE FOOLS WHO STAND BEFORE ME BE DESTROYED BY THE POWER YOU AND I POSSESS!!!" DRAGON SLAVE!!!!
ADV’s translation might have used different wordings, but it is far from incorrect. The premise behind the spell still remains the same. And to be honest, I think ADV’s version sounds more like what you would expect from a spell.
Both say about the same thing. I appreciate that they kept this version for the movies, and the original, as Pascal spelled out, in the series. I'm fine with both, I just *really* liked the premise and reasoning behind this *particular* dragon slave. When she says, "Stay out of the way Naga," in that voice, I knew the first time, it just got serious.
