The sloshing machine is still without a doubt a top-tier, and it most likely will always be one. And you forgot about the part where it could hit through walls on launch lol.

THANK YOU!! You described perfectly what I try to tell people whenever someone is saying the sloshing machine wasn't overnerfed. The sloshing machine meta from the very very early game didn't last long because there's great counter picks to machine (pretty much any high speed short range weapon but especially dark tetra dualies) - before getting nerfed sloshing machine was becoming more balanced in the meta, it was still popular but you didn't see multiple on one team the way you did at the very start of the game. RIP to top tier machine, still top tier in my heart and I'll still continue playing it in competitive
Yes while Sloshing Machine did get unfortunately hit with some pretty bad nerfs in 3, I STILL main it since it’s genuinely such a fun weapon to play with and it’s sub and special weapon combo just pair so PERFECTLY together! Honestly it didn’t really fall so severely, like yes it is much harder now to get the Booyah Bomb special unfortunately but it is still manageable to deal with 🤷♀️ It’s still very easy to psychologically apply pressure to your opponents in most game modes, and I regularly get 15+ kills in most games thanks to how most players still don’t really seem to know how to counter against this weapon (before anyone asks, I’m in S+4 rn and seeing any fellow machine mains there is semi-uncommon, and thus I can literally see how most people don’t really know how to play against players with machine, since I guess we’re not THAT common enough lol)
What we've learned is that the Machine lives and dies by the metas it's strong in. Attack of the Sting Rays? Machine's there to bring on the beams! Crab raves? Sounds like they need someone handing out fizzy drinks! I don't think this, nor whatever nerf likely comes next patch will spell the end of the Machine at all, even if it's had nothing but nerfs, it’s inherently designed well, and as long as it has fizzy, how could life ever be rough for it?
I've mained machine since launch and I love this thing so much, I've definitely felt the nerfs though and I think they did a lil too much nerfing :/ but this weapon fits my play style perfectly so I will keep playing it!!
Sloshing machine did get hit pretty bad. During the chocolate splatfest I realized Areosprays would get a booyah bomb the first 30 seconds and end with at least 4 of them, I can barely get in 2 during a turf game. Ik Sloshing Machine isn't a turf weapon but it annoyed me a lot. Worst part is that I doubt any sloshing machine after would be as good kit wise as this one. Even tho I'd love the kensa back, it feel like it's kit won't be as good unless it's a whole new sub or special. I mained kensa sloshing machine in splatoon 2, I do miss splashdown. The nerfs won't stop me from using the sloshing machine. Throw on a lot of main ink saver and tbh it's all good, I'd love for an aerospray nerf :')
I’m of the opinion that the recent nerf to it is a good thing. People are equating its nerf to the shooter privilege that we see with the same patch, and while that is a problem, it’s a separate problem. Machine absolutely needed a nerf, and it didn’t take it completely out of top tier, it still has a good amount of use today. It’s not splash, but pre nerf we were seeing a little too much double machine crab, so I think the nerf was necessary.
I agree that it was needed, I just don't think it should have been hit so hard because it was a legitimately good counter to crab, which was the main focus of the update
It didn't lmao. I don't think it deserves 220 special and the ink reduction was fair, but it already plays defensively and it will still get its special very often
I stopped maining machine in S3 because I found other options that fit my playstyle better, despite it being better in S2. Great video as always. Will you normal bucket sooner or later?
please explain how making a weapon have 1 less shot and requiring less than 1 more shot to gain its special makes it fall out of grace and "of the century"
The biggest nerf to it was the fizzy bomb nerf! The second nerf wasn’t terrible for it but that’s when it started to fall out of play. It’s still an extremely powerful kit, if anything it’s just weaker early game before LDE is activated.
Thats not enough tho, because recently in patch 4.0.0 in splatoon 3, its firerate became 5/60 of a second! Making it slower than its splatoon 2 counterpart! Seriously this video was made 3 months ago before the 4.0.0 update of splatoon 3 THEY HATE THIS WEAPON SO MUCH THAT THEY GAVE IT TWO BIG NERFS.
