I was in the Navy when the PSP came out. I would spend my free time playing the SvR games on it. I thought it was the only one at the time but by the end of my first deployment I found that half the ship had a PSP and at least one version of SvR. We even had tournaments. I miss those days.

What perfect timing for this video. I just got my cousins old PSP as a Christmas gift from him and I was like, time to get every wrestling game on this thing. And I was so shocked as to how good these ports were. Thank god for THQ and Yuke’s for making these legendary ports of such classics.

This one hits close to home for me. My parents split up when I was a kid, during the prime of my wrestling fascination. I obviously played WWE games as much as I could, but both of my parents didn't want me transporting video games & consoles to the other parents' house; I was at my dad's on the weekends, mom's on the weekdays. Along with the whole situation; I quickly grew tired of this as wrestling was one of my primary escapes during that dark season of my life. That's where the PSP comes in, and I am so thankful the game developers made all the SvR games for the PSP. Sure, they were obviously the most graphically scaled down versions of the game, but they were still fully playable ports. In other words; you weren't missing out on much playing the PsP versions if you didn't own the console versions, and I know this because I had some of the SvR games on PS2. If you didn't already know, game developers mostly just made short spin-offs of awesome games, rather than ports of the original games themselves, for the PSP (e.g. Assassin's Creed, CoD, etc). Not that they were all bad, they just weren't the same and it was tough not being able to relate to my buddies at school over the games they were playing, because I'd be playing the "cheap knock-offs" (although most of the time those short spin-offs were actually great). However, the SvR games were the golden exception of that. Super thankful these existed and that my parents got me a PSP.

SvR 2006 on the PSP is literally my childhood and one of my favorite games of all time. I didn't get a PSP until like 2010-11 (don't ask) and I first watched WWE in 2004, then again in 2007. I didn't have cable as a kid so I wasn't familiar with most of the people on the RAW roster. I would always play it in the car on the way to church, summer camp, school, wherever basically. My PSP no longer works so I can't play it anymore, but SvR 2006 on the PSP was the majority of my childhood and I cherish it so much.

I remember playing SvR 2006 on my friend’s PSP long ago. I too was blown away by how it felt like the exact same game and I really liked how it had a few extras like the trivia minigame. I didn’t know that people are still working on modding those games even today.

SVR 07 memories man. I remember getting my PSP in late 2007 during high school n then goin to places like Best Buy n getting SVR 07 for cheap under 20 bux. Unlocking all the legends even tho I already 100% the achievements on the 360.

I remember when I had a PSP and I had SVR 08. It was awesome man great times.

Despite being just as old as the console itself, I was fascinated with the PSP versions of the SvR games. I wanted a PSP for years because of it. I finally got one in 2015 and I really enjoyed it. It was my first time playing 06 and I actually took the time to beat season mode. My only gripe is the lack of CAW layers. Like, wtf can I do with 16 layers? I also loved using the updated mods since I could use modern wrestlers in create a story for example. (Also Persona 3 Portable and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep are awesome and playing PSP games on a phone is garbage)

man, I still remember being in the car, loving playing I think it was '09 on my PSP, doing the Mysterio and Batista RTWM, being so invested in it that when I finally looked up, I had no idea where we were, no bother, just keep playing, hit another 619. Or going around my friends house and doing one of those link up matches, I at some point accidentally lock my controls and have no idea what's going on as he's whooping me. Back in the day I didn't think it was really anything, looking back on it, it really is magical how they crammed some already amazing games from the PS2 into a PSP game

I played svr 2011 on psp for several years, sometimes I go back and I loved it, the only thing that made me sad was that the psp version didn't have the commentary/announcement table. Still this game was freaking sick 🔥🔥

It was the PSP's glorious accomplishments when "yo i want a ps2 game on my pocket" and it actually did. These SvR and Rockstar games like Manhunt and The Warriors we're already a miracle :v it's truely the PSP is really ahead of it's time!

I had a very similar experience to you. In 2004 bought a GBA with a copy of Survivor Series and while l didn’t have high expectations like you did, it sucked! A year later my cousin sold me a psp for cheap and l bought SVR 06 on the day it came out. My mind was blown. To this day l can’t believe how much content they pack into this portable game. I later on got 07,08, 10 and 11 but to this day l go back to 06 for the roster and the gym mode. I remember playing SvR06 on my psp in church and the pastor’s son looking at it and being in awe.

I had SvR 2007 and 2008 and WWE All Stars on the PSP. All of them had EVERYTHING from the console versions. The graphics don’t look great but the gameplay was responsive and smooth and was so fun. I 100% All Stars and SvR 2007 and I would play GM mode for HOURS. Still have the games to this day and I love it.

I have a story for SvR. Back when i was a kid, not yet owning a PSP, i only got it when i was 14. My neighbour and I played SVR 2007 on my PS2. We were playing for hours and the power box was already hot, we were being called to a BBQ at our other neighbour's place that the whole road was invited to. We had loaded up a tornado tag hell in a cell as Kane and Taker vs 2 others who I'm not remembering. Being awake til late wasn't common back then. We were gone for like 1 or 2 hours completely forgetting there was a match loaded up and just waiting for us to hit x to continue. The brick was still hot, we still played for an hour more. The very same night on one of the free channels they were showing Ready to rumble, that movie with wcw guys in it and that guy who respectable wrestling fans don't talk about. It was quite a dope night. Spent some time with good people, had a good meal, played matches til opponents were red in all parts of their bodies, a great day to remember

I love how easy these games are to emulate as I don’t own the necessary consoles to play the first few SVRs but these PSP versions are so easy to emulate and don’t leave anything out, so glad these exist

The only WWE games I had on my PSP were SVR 08 and 09 and it was so fun, I spent so many hours playing 08 and 09 on the PSP but because I didn't have a memory card (it stopped working) I couldn't save any of my data which was bad but the games were so fun and it was that we just had an console game in our hands, awesome

My first wwe game when my father bought a psp 3006 model was SvR 06, and it was a UMD😅 Some say that the graphics were horrible but for me it was fantastic😊 It's kinda sad that it doesn't have commentary, but still playing SvR games on the go is really awesome. I still play it but now on my vita, along with 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, and all stars😊
