Couple of things. Good review. You send mixed messages on the glass when you say the 8x ain't great and gets fuzzy, but then say the glass is good later. The NF ATACR is also daylight bright like the Razor Gen III/II, maybe more so. I liked that you brought up how thick the stadia and reticle is at 8x, because it's something I've learned myself going out to your range. Personally, I've found 1-8s need to be in a 34mm tube to maintain clarity and function as intended. The 1-8s in 30mm tubes all suffer at the low end or the top end. It's cool to have a light weight 1-8 if it does everything well enough, but none of the 30mms do.

@barrelandhatchet
@barrelandhatchet 6 месяцев назад
First off I want to say that I 100 percent agree about the 34 mm tube for LPVO’s. Having more eye box does make a huge difference with clarity and function. To clear up the confusion, on the 8X. It is a 4 out of 10 in terms of clarity of target picture, due to the fixed parallax with the LPVO. The 1x is fantastic, however, some thing we have seen with all LPVO systems, is, it is a jack of all trades and a master of none. But totally agree with your entire comment.

Why wouldn't you get an MVPO instead of an LVPO if you plan to mount an offset red dot sight? You will get much better magnification for a cheaper price just not having the 1x and the 1x isn't as good since LVPO's are all fixed parallax versus a red dot. So why bother with 1x on an LVPO if you are going to use a RDS? Better off getting a 2-10x if you mount an offset dot it will be cheaper and have better glass for the price.

I like the PLX C. I especially like the price. Brighter illumination would be better IMO. Comparison to other shorty: March-F 1x-8x24mm Shorty is the world’s lightest and shortest scope with 8 magnification ratio. The length is only 212mm(8.4 inch) and the weight is only 460g(16.23oz) but at the same time the performance still remains the same as D8V24FIML. (Note: 1-10 is about the same price.) Improving on its predecessor, the fully redesigned PLx 1-8x24mm FFP Compact Rifle Scope has a 9.28-inch OAL and weighs only 16.95 oz. March-F D8SV24FIML / Primary arms PLxC: 8.4 inch OAL / 9.28 OAL 16.23 oz / 16.95 oz ~$3000 / $1305

Just my opinion, if your not going for “precision” and just want a good dependable reticle that can put shots on target quickly and at different distances than I would get BDC, otherwise I would get MIL. Nothing wrong with MOA but I’m starting realise how much more potential MIL has over MOA at longer distances. I have a PA 2.5-10 GLX on my AR10 and my 18” AR-15. I also used a 1-6 LVPO from PA. I’m a pretty much a PA fanboy and their BDC reticles are pretty good (they can be in MIL or MOA). I’ve had leupold, Vortex (poortex), Swampfox, and PA. And except for my gucci Leupold, I love PA. It’s always good to make sure that you never take away capability, so having a zero stop even though you may plan on using the reticle to hold for your different targets is still a good option to have in your toolbox. Man I've been on a ringer trying to find a light weight LPVO (17ish oz or less) thats 1-10 with a consideration for 1-8. Currently running a Swampfox arrowhead 1-10 which honestly I'm happy with for the affordable price. Just heavier than I'd like, and getting that grass is greener itch haha. Currently leaning toward a march shorty 1-10 though its over 2k, 17.8oz which isn't that great weight wise - though it is a short lpvo, and for its weight it is good for a 1-10 specifically. A good few 1-6 lpvos that are lighter though (and 1-8). Considered the PA 1-8 plx as well, but having tried 3 different acss optics (507c, SLX in 1x and 3x) from PA I just don't like chevrons. I think primary arms new slx 1-10 is around 17-18 oz. But imo 1-10 scopes arent good no matter the maker simply due to physics. They give up too many compromises. Either go with a 1-6/1-8 or jump up to a MPVO

@@sumblakdude9 I get that a lot when get into lpvo discussions about 1-10. For me its a trade off I'm fine with personally, though do recommend others to go 1-6 and moreso 1-8 (I personally feel the 1-6 just leaves me wanting on zoom more often than not) as well on the general. Wish PA would make a dot version of their recital options. Also wish they didn't make the donut around their chevrons as thick. Would get their lpvo and other optics more often.. though then again I did buy over 3 of them already haha. But I've steered cleared of them now personally due to that.

A true 1x is overrated. Once you get magnification factors above 4 the eye box degrades so quickly. 6 or 8 are usable. 10 pretty bad. I’d take a bit of a crappy 1x or even a 1.5-2x low end to get better eyebox at max.

I know his is a little off topic, personally I would like to know where the firearms industry, gets their statistics for budget pricing, because I do not know about y'all, but where I live $100. is allot of money and not easy to come by, I would end up in a divorce, if I were to spend $1k or more for an optic...
@HotelBravo556
@HotelBravo556 Год назад
Please don’t take this the wrong way, but if $100 is a lot of money to you in 2023 you need to figure out a way to make more money. I’m not saying you need to spend $1k on an optic, but damn man that mentality of accepting being poor makes me sad.

Personally I dont do scopes on my AR15s I deem them a battle rifle, and a red dot is more than adequate. This said I have a Wilson combat AR that its accuracy could put it as a DMR, but my personal take is if im running an optic, i am pushing it out past 300 yards i dont want a LVPO and going to a traditional optic. I understand the want for PID, but again, I do not point my weapon at anything i do not intend to destroy. I have binos on my rig for that very thing, if its hostile and i have the time to discern if its a viable target or not, I will not point the weapon to indentify.

Vortex strike eagle ffp 1-8x review when?
@JGoodZX6R
@JGoodZX6R Год назад
I have the SE FFP 1-8x and the PA PLXc 1-8x. PA is obviously nicer quality overall and clearer glass. But I’m still undecided if it’s nearly 3x the price better. I don’t think it is honestly. 8x eyebox seems more finicky on the PA. My biggest complaint is if your head isn’t dead center, parts of the reticle seem to drag/double/blur. I notice it mostly on the vertical ranging bars, although it occurs throughout the reticle. Back it to 7x and it’s not present. Awesome 1x. Gripes on SE: weight. At 24oz, it’s noticeably heavier. Clean reticle at 8x though/no reticle “dragging”. BDC lines up great with what I’m shooting. Hopeful Vortex puts out a lightweight PST Gen 3 with reticles similar to the EBR-9 offerings with something like the user configurable turrets PA did. I have my elevation turret exposed on my PLXc.

I don’t care who loves Primary Arms Optics/LPVO’s and their reticles. Their lines are FAR too THICK ((Thiccc)) and way too busy vs sizing and layout. They really need to clean them up bc they are NOT for the serious end user or professional.

@GhostlierQ82 I could see this for competition, but why wouldn't you just run a magnified eotech with a flip to side magnifier for nods? It just seems impractical outside of competition where go from 200 yards to 25.
@GhostlierQ82
@GhostlierQ82 11 месяцев назад
@@Kaltwasser45 That's a great question. What is boils down in my opinion is a compromise between daytime and nighttime shooting, where you want good positive identification capabilities out to some distance during daylight. That set-up is completely dependant on your particular needs, of course, like everything else.
