Multiply by 3 and factorise. x=4 or x=-3 . Did it in 5 seconds in my head. Easy!

Remove the denominator by multiplying 3 on both sides and transpose 12 to the other side. Then solve for x.

About 5 min before getting to studio content. Students can easily have a preference for using the Quadratic Formula. It always works. If the trinomial is prime, you have wasted time attempting to factor (unless your goal was to spend time with factoring because you were told it is easier). I'm reluctant to say one method is easier or best. I would let students explore the methods and decide. PS: You can't do 'anything' to each side of an equation.

Am I wrong in thinking that X does not equal -3? I think 4 is the only correct answer.
