@@gabbleratchet1890 Yeah I'm just kidding tbh. Other option would have been to postpone the rest of the tour, and give him some time to commit to rehab before going again, rather than firing him.
@@gabbleratchet1890i said to myself just fucking amazing bout 10 seconds in ..then i read some comments.. him kicking heroin is even more amazing...lost an ex on apr 9th..and just found out tonite another o'd again a coupla days ago..shes got more lives than teeth
@@timothywright-dx5hs right on, man. He’s been one of my favorite drummers since the early 90s. I was 18 in the summer of 1996, and I vividly remember watching the MTV news break with Kurt Loder, where he announced the death of Jonathan Melvoin, and how Jimmy was seemingly involved in the tragedy. It shook me to think of the dark underbelly of the industry. A few years later, I’d learn firsthand, of the darkness lurking in that world. So cool that he not not only made it through his battle alive, but that Billy forgave him and hired him back! Beautiful.
Seen the Pumpkins back in the late 90's.......I could not take my eyes off of Jimmy.....The dude has such a great feel and execution......SO happy that he got his life back together.
I think he’s the greatest drummer of the 90s but, he’s dull to watch. He’s a jazz drummer so he sits there and does everything effortlessly. It doesn’t make for great entertainment. Chad Smith on the other hand. I can watch him all day.
This man is an absolute legend. One of the best drummers in the world and he says he's always learning to become better. Lovely guy too. Love watching him play. Can't wait for this in full.
Jimmy Chamberlain That guy is one of my favorite drummers I walked into a small club did not know who the Smashing Pumpkins were. They started playing and it’s a great band but as a bass player watching Jimmy, he and Jimmy, oh my God, the pumpkins were never the same when he left
@@peterkovach8655 tied at best... Corgan is one of that centuries best songwriters.(all categories.. probably in the top 100 which means for all-time he's high on the list too..he writes at least two completely unique brands of songs..so if you are going to go back to let's say 1700s..where does he fall. And I'm serious.. He's Elton John and Bernie Taupin (Bacharach/David...Leiber/Stoller...Kaufman/Hart. Dozier/Holland/Dozier) .combined and most people have them high on any list..And a lot on that list are highly entwined in the music biz since birth..Billy didn't have that luxury
@@MidniteSon "Versatile" is what gay guys call it when you both catch and pitch, and in that sense of the word I agree that Billy Corgan is probably that
Thank you Rick. So glad to see Jimmy - can always hear the jazz groove in his playing, reminds me of Neil Peart RIP. What a thoughtful drummer with a big, cinematic sound. He isn't just a drummer, he's a storyteller.
100% and this track is probably the greatest album opener of the 90s. That opening snare roll announcing "And now, presenting the best album of the 90s!" 🎉
As a lifelong drummer, when these songs first came out I remember thinking that Jimmy basically played the total OPPOSITE of what a regular (mortal) drummer would think to play. His unconventional, imaginative style is always fun to listen to and play!
I can’t take the “underrated” nonsense on YT videos. He is not underrated. He was very well known and respected as a drummer from the minute the Pumpkins broke through. Every drummer or musician I knew or played with back then thought he was amazing and gave him huge respect. He got a lot of press in the musician rags for being a great player, notably because he came from a jazz background. So, for the love of God, please stop with “underrated.” He’s always been highly rated.

Coño!! Este baterista y todo de Smashing Pumpkins me voló la cabeza en la adolescencia. Creo que es una de mis bandas favoritas y acabo de realizarlo 🙌🙌🙌
The 90's were the peak. They stood on the shoulders of giants from the 70's. Grunge hearkened back to the days of something new and magical, without being a repeat of those days.
I haven't seen the interview yet but I hope he talks about his drumming on Drown. Absolute PEAK Pumpkins for me. It has everything they are great at in one song
Seeing the Pumpkins back in 91 touring “Gish” it was Jimmy’s drumming that pulled me in. His jazz roots always show through. Always in the pocket, always imaginative, he was heads above most of the drummers that sprung up around that time.
If you look at his face when he plays a part or song he really likes to play, his face is in Assult mode. Jimmy knows his role...it ls to Assult these tracks the best way he knows how ❤
When man?! When?!!! I’ve been playing for 31 years and Jimmy was the first “modern” Drummer I fell in love with. He’s still my favorite unattainable, uncopyable player of all time. I’m chomping at the but over here for this interview!!!
Agreed. When I first heard *Gish* back in ‘91 it’s what stood out to me the most. That snare! The fills on *’Siva’* were especially dynamic and drew me in immediately. “Tell me tell me what you’re after, Because I just want to get there faster” Rat-tat-tat-tat-TAT-TAT-tat-tat
