I will forever love the fuck out of Thom Yorke for putting something like "look at all the pretty lights" into a music context such as this

If you get a chance to see them live, don't hesitate. One of the greatest live shows I've seen in decades. The best gift you could give yourself.

The drummer is amazing. So jazzy.

This has to be heard on a good set of headphones 🎧 It sounds 10 times better, if that is even possible. You here Thom's voice layers and all Johnny's fabulous guitar riffs, intricately. A bit like looking at a beautiful painting and getting more joy every time you hear it!!!

The smile has a unique sound which is actually quiet different than Radiohead. Imagine they are in their 50's and still manage to beat the new gen kids in making unique music. Love it!

One of the best records of the year so far. Pure art - visual and for my ears. ❤️

this sounds like it could be a more acoustic version of a song off TKOL, with the loopy vocal lines and drums/guitar

i saw the smile live in Stockholm yesterday and it was such an experience!!!! Jonny playing the guitar with a bow and later also playing the harp and the piano AT THE SAME TIME!!! Radiohead and The Smile are honestly the most phenomenal bands right now in my opinion. And Thom Yorke is truly a genius, I’ve never seen so much talent in songwriting before.

They are gods pure and simple! Thom is definitely not from this world or he's on his hundredth reincarnation...just otherworldly.

i think the smile is the scariest, most nightmarish thing they ve done so far. Climbing up the walls, 2 + 2 = 5. Here we have pana vision, the same, hairdryer, thin thing, white flag and the list goes on. I feel the fear and i love it.

I hear shades of 'where bluebirds fly' in those vocals...a song I also love...but Thom has improved on that blueprint...these vocals are absolutely spellbinding. my favourite song on the album...so far

People aren't giving Tom Skinner enough credit! Guy's not only a fantastic jazz drummer, he's been a producer and fixture in the London underground scene for seriously like 20 years. In fact, if you pay attention, a lot of band materials (i.e. posters) put his name first! I think a lot of people are acting like this is Thom and Johnny with some drummer who happens to be good, but Skinner is way more than that.

These songs are incredibly played and composed but they can’t seem to escape a very odd landscape of depression and confusion. I keep waiting for them to go somewhere but they are not ascending. Just going deeper into a really beautifully crafted hole.

This song reminds me of the clock; this could easily be a more acoustic song on the eraser, but I feel this is a more dramatic and powerful song than what was featured there.

It's too bad that I enjoy these guys' music but they always instill me with with such a sense of guilt that I can barely take it. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going schizophrenic based on the hectic nature of the internet and the consistently terrifying metaphysical ideas that try to burn themselves into my head, I keep trying to empty it all out to stay in touch with reality, live my life in a way that's honest, empathetic and ideally inspiring, but so much of what I listen to in an attempt to find answers or new inspiration for art isn't just eerie, it's frighteningly accusatory. Love your music though, obviously. It's beautiful.

Anyone who doesn't see the aural connection between The Smile and Radiohead needs to re-listen to "King of Limbs" and "Moon Shaped Pool."

Sounds like a lost demo from TKOL. Recorded at 3am in the attic of an abandoned mansion near Stonehenge. Or something like that.

Guitar riffs : variation of little by little Drum pattern: variation of good morning mr mag pie. Definitely KOTL vibes but just outside to be fresh and unique. Great tune!

My fave cut from this record. On a side note, I'd like to use this song for a future movie scene. (If I can afford it😭😭😭)

My impressions of this album: "For some reason I'm trying not to like it as much as I do." IDK if its some dumb loyalty to Radiohead as a full unit or what, but as a side project (is it tho?) this is awfully good. Loving Tom Skinners stick work.
