I'm baby-steps getting a bit uninterested in Radiohead/TheSmile. I guess that's cause I'm getting older and into adulthood now, but their pessimism and their bitter response to the Israel controversy make me see them as irresponsible. Their music isn't talking about anything really, and if I want to listen to sad music, at least I got my own sad stuff to listen to that's not shallow politics, but personal self loathing (some of my favs). There are already 10288228172722727272919282 songs that present our political status under a pessimist light, without proposing anything or going against anything really. And yeah, Jonny played in Israel this year at some IDF charity gigs and gave a pretty awful response on Twitter to backlash essentially ignoring the war going on and not naming or talking about any of the victims of it. Not a great look at all and has some worrisome implications. I feel like the rest of the band is choosing to be silent out of respect for Jonny/his family. Idk if the lyrics of DGMS have to do with all of that, but that's also not a great look lol.
It could be that case, them staying silent but, it’s one of those things, like…being from Israel does not mean you immediately need to be in this position. At the end of the day, I think the main position we should be having is that too many innocent people are dying. It seems weird to think that any of these deaths solve anything. There’s no point in yelling at him though…he’s a grown man, if he wants to have this position so be it, but naturally, other will have theirs.
To many innocent people are dying. Not just Palestinians. Not just Jews. People. That's my issue with all of this. It's exclusively and entirely aimed at one side, ignoring hundreds of years of the exact same atrocious acts by all sides. I have no love for the Jews. But they aren't the only people here. Read up on your history. This is just one side replying to the actions of the other. And the cycle continues. It'll never stop. I mean if you're religious God straight up says "y'all gonna be shredding others, and getting shredded to the end of time" so yeah...... All I'm sayin is don't pretend like this is one side being evil and one side being innocent.

I will disagree with you that this is a side replying to violence…this is an excuse to commit a genocide. A terrorist group makes a poor decision that’s based in a Zionist project that stems back before WWII that never had these peoples best interest in mind. No one is saying one side is evil and the e other is innocent. The Shortest History of Israel and Palestine by Michael Scott-Baumann is a really good book to look into this stuff….as well, the documentary Five Broken Cameras really showcases that there is definitely a power dynamic occurring, where, people in Palestine and at a much larger disadvantage
@@nirodha60 I don't have a problem with him doing that. My criticism of Rogers Water isn't because of this explicit event, sorry if I didn't make that clear. During this time, there was other artists that didn't play during this BDS, such as Lorde if I recall. Other artists have also been suggested to follow this, but have not explicitly said anything, probably for publicity reasons. There was also a situation between Imagine Dragons & Serj Tankian about Imagine Dragons playing in Azerbaijan. To me, I find this situation complicated. For instance, when it comes to not playing in Israel, should these artists also not play in the US? The place that has been providing the largest financial support? It's hard to tell where the red-line is. You don't want to support an economy, but at the same time, your fans unfortunately miss out because of where they live. I think it'd be better if these artists made a stand by doing something at these concerts, maybe like what The 1975 did in Malaysia with their homosexuality laws. Anyways, that's my two cents.
